Yes, adorable, but have you seen my baby niece dressed as an elf? Have insulin handy.

I love the Dodo. They have amazing stories.

Aww, so cute. That paw swatting reminds me of this morning when I was feeding my neighbor’s cats (I’m cat sitting again). I went to unlock the back door to get the outside cat’s bowls and walked by the table where the inside cats’ bowls are. One of the inside cats was standing on the table and as I walked by swatted me, like, “Hey! Where’s my food?” Usually the inside cats get fed first and I was not doing it in the correct order. He was not happy. Heh.

Looking around for Apple TV entertainment. We’ve binge watched a lot of shows like “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and tonight we tried a couple of episodes from S1 of “Bosch” and episode 1 of “Vanity Fair” on Amazon Prime.

That is very sweet! What a lucky bear!

Dying..just dying from the cuteness…?

@Mike in NC: All the seasons of Bosch are excellent!

@Adam L Silverman: Thanks for the recommendation.

Went to see the new Mary Poppins movie with Spawn the Younger and her Brownie troop. It was fine. Lin-Manuel Miranda is a treasure.
However. It made me realize a trope: too many movies with kids annoy the crap out of me because there is a child character who is incorrigible, and I as the viewer am supposed to find it charming. It is not. It is, upon further reflection, always a boy. This is a bunch of bullshit.
The original Mary Poppins kids were not ill-behaved little shits. I wish Disney would realize that kids like that are annoying when you actually know them and are fuckin’ miserable when you aren’t obligated to love them.

@R-Jud: Changeling!

Super cute kitty!

Speaking of cute, my friend’s 4-year-old has decided that I am his dinosaur buddy and brings his Lego dinosaurs over to me so I can admire them. The T-Rex he showed me today had a ribcage in its mouth because it was eating another dinosaur. ?
I cemented our dinosaur bond when I told him that birds are really dinosaurs, which only made him love dinosaurs even more.

@R-Jud: She looks like a little doll! So very cute!
I am now ded, kilt by all the cute!

Do you mean Georgie? FWIW, I think his troublemaking was supposed to show that his older siblings can’t actually do the job of raising him because they’re kids, too. But, yes, that character type is almost always a boy and that’s annoying.
I thought Emily Blunt was really great — she was able to do her own take on an iconic character, which is a very difficult thing to do.

@Mnemosyne: Our three-year-old great-niece was over for the family holiday party, and we gave her a copy of Danny and the Dinosaur. Turns out we completely lucked out – unbeknownst to us, she has become a great dinosaur fangirl in the last few months, and was completely enthralled by the book.

Patriot. Season 1 takes some warming up to, season 2 really hits its stride.

@Suzanne
The Bad Seed pretty much closed the book on incorrigible little girls.

Not exactly new news, but for any who hadn’t heard, Amazon is working on a Lord of the Rings series (possibly for 2020) and has budgeted one billion dollars for production.

@Suzanne:
Also, too, I think you’re misremembering the original movie. The reason Mary Poppins was there in the first place was that the kids were horrible little shits who kept driving their nannies away with their terrible behavior. I suspect that the shitty behavior of the kids in the new movie is modern enough to set off your “mom” trigger, while the kids in the original film misbehave in 1950s ways that don’t give you flashbacks to your own spawn misbehaving.

Must admit disappointment with the second season of Mrs. Maisel, as they essentially decided to film the Big Book of Jewish Stereotypes.
Off the beaten path but likeable enough is the six episode Drover’s Gold, a period series revolving around a cattle drive. In Wales.
Suzanne
@Mnemosyne: I know that the background of the story is that Jane and Michael were obnoxious to their nannies. But when we viewers see them for most of the movie, they are pretty good kids. This little Georgie shit was so awful that I actively wished bad things would happen to him. Characters like that seem to be something that others find adorable, but I do not.

The 911 phone service is down for the whole state of Washington now. It started in one county, Clark, at 8:30 this evening when Century Link had trouble but now all the carriers have lost the 911 phone service. We got an alert a few minutes ago to call the police or fire dept directly in an emergency, but this will affect people without smart phones, and mostly the elderly. We hope no one dies because they didn’t get the word or can’t figure out how to work around the problem.
Texting 911 for dialing 311 works.
Does this seem like a hack to anyone with some expertise?
opiejeanne
@opiejeanne: Oregon is reporting the same problem in the Portland area.
opiejeanne
Missouri, Wyoming, Arizona, Utah and Oregon, but a friend in the Portland area says it’s not affecting her.

Why are we supposed to find it cute that a cat is about to rip the throat out of a harmless teddy bear?
Gemina13
Sweet kitten. ::dies and is dead of cute;;
Miss Bianca
OMG, screaming cuteness!!

@Suzanne:
If it helps the Santa Chronicles has a feisty girl who is really adorable.
