Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Biden: Oh no. We’ve upset Big Pharma again.

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

The fundamental promise of conservatism all over the world is a return to an idealized past that never existed.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

Trump’s legal defense is going to be a dumpster fire inside a clown car on a derailing train.

Ah, the different things are different argument.

Consistently wrong since 2002

Dead end MAGA boomers crying about Talyor Swift being a Dem is my kind of music. Turn it up.

Pelosi: “He either is stupid, or he thinks the rest of us are.” Why not both?

A democracy can’t function when people can’t distinguish facts from lies.

The words do not have to be perfect.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

“woke” is the new caravan.

You cannot shame the shameless.

And we’re all out of bubblegum.

Many life forms that would benefit from greater intelligence, sadly, do not have it.

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

They were going to turn on one another at some point. It was inevitable.

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

He seems like a smart guy, but JFC, what a dick!

Spilling the end game before they can coat it in frankl luntz-approved dogwhistles.

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

We’ll be taking my thoughts and prayers to the ballot box.

Sorry about Thursday/Friday, I was sick and went to bed early and forgot to post Thursday and then Friday’s I setup the post to publish a day later than desired. At least there was a bonus Saturday post!

For this last day of the year, let’s go out with something nice and blog-appropriate.  Tomorrow we return to Africa from our beloved Compte.

Have a wonderful day, and safe evening. See you next year!

Today, pictures from valued commenter Jazzman.

This morning the reflection of a rainbow came through the window of my daughter’s apartment in Lakewood, Colorado and made a bracelet on her dog Gabi’s paw. (The dog’s full name is Gabriella Regenbogen, “Regenbogen” being German for “rainbow”. Coincidence? I think not!)
Had to take a break from my usual lurking; this was too good not to share. There’s more in Lakewood than bigoted bakers–never lose hope!

Lakewood, Colorado

This morning the reflection of a rainbow came through the window of my daughter’s apartment in Lakewood and made a bracelet on her dog Gabi’s paw. Her dog’s full name is Gabriella Regenbogen, “Regenbogen” being German for “rainbow.” (Coincidence? I think not!)
I’m usually a lurker but this was too good not to share. There’s more in Lakewood than bigoted bakers. Never lose hope!

Thank you so much Jazzman, do send us more when you can.

Travel safely everybody, and do share some stories in the comments, even if you’re joining the conversation late. Many folks confide that they go back and read old threads, one reason these are available on the Quick Links menu.

When I read “nice and blog-appropriate”, I thought “It’s dogs!”

    It’s dogs!

Or dog, anyway. You are a beautiful pup, Gabi, and rockin’ that bracelet with pride!
