I didn’t even know New Year songs were a genre. I can think of only Auld Lang Syne, but I suppose that’s too obvious to list here.

I’m old enough and given to depressing music enough to listen to Jason Isbell’s Vampires a lot on days that mark lost time.
If I want to spit in the face of Death’s hourglass, I go for this.

@Jay: I think it is a solid analysis. My biggest concern is what he describes as item 3: the increase and escalation in provocative language on the Russian side. Including repeated claims that the Ukrainians are planning a chemical weapons attack. To me this is the most worrisome indicator. That Putin has his people out establishing a narrative he can use to justify escalating matters.
