I’m not having any luck figuring out how to livestream this (yes, if I weren’t an idiot, I’d have RSVP’d Senator Warren’s email invitation!), but here’s the CNN link…

Does anyone know if these things are available on the internet after the fact?
Betty Cracker
She’s doing well so far, IMO. Got through the reparations question without dismissing it or committing to anything.
WaterGirl
@Baud: I would say YES because the CNN town hall with Pete Buttigieg can be found by googling “CNN town hall Pete Buttigieg”. That one was up on YouTube.
Plus if she does twitter, I’m sure she will have a link to it later.
WaterGirl
@Betty Cracker: How is Jake Tapper doing? He was great with Buttigieg and a few of us were wondering earlier whether he would treat a high profile female differently than he treated Buttigieg.
Betty Cracker
@WaterGirl: He’s more aggressive with his follow-up than he was with Mayor Pete so far, IMO. I am totally unimpressed with Tapper in general. He’s part of the problem.
jk
If people cared more about substance than style, Warren would beat Biden or Beto. She’s clearly better informed and more articulate than either of them.

Here’s a live youtube streaming (link)

@Betty Cracker: I was totally shocked by Tapper at the Pete Buttigieg town hall. I haven’t liked Tapper for years, but there he was doing a great job, so I wondered if perhaps I had previously misjudged him. Apparently not.
Agreed. He is part of the problem. They all are. Tapper, Chuck Todd, etc. I cringe when Colbert and other late night people have them on, and they are treated as hot shot royalty. When Preet had a live show with Chuck Todd I was really unimpressed with his choice. Ugh.
edit: As soon as they go to Tapper or Todd, I immediately turn off the show. I can’t bear to watch and I hope against hope that something somewhere has recorded the shutoff as soon as they come out on stage.

She’s really been driving the convo in terms of policy. No one explains the WHY of policy proposals better than Warren.
Brickley Paiste
@Garbo:
Yeah, Warren would be my absolute dream president, but I think Harris (and maybe a couple of others) have a better shot of winning.
It’s a shame – so many good choices.
(Oh and I caught myself the other day thinking “I don’t think [candidate] really has enough experience to be running for president” and then I slapped myself back into reality.
gwangung
@Garbo: This would be a good thing if the typical voter had even a smidgen of interest in policy.
FlyingToaster
@gwangung: If we can get our own primary voters interested in policy, that would fucking help with the messaging.
Steve in the ATL
@FlyingToaster: I would pay attention to policy, but I’m too busy getting my March Madness bracket just right
Garbo
At this point I’m thinking platform and ultimate legislative agenda. All these great policy ideas are going to end up being adopted in some form by the nominee. And the nominee will be the candidate who ultimately catches fire. I have my favorites, but right now I’m appreciating the high quality lumber that’s being laid down.
Ohio Mom
The audience is wild for her, which is fun to see.
I am waiting for a foreign affairs question, hope I am not missing it.

So it turns out the moron who capped Frankie Boy Cali is a QAnon moron. This is great – showed up for his court appearance with a big “Q” inked on his palm, which he held up for the cameras.
The answer to “how stupid can you be” is apparently “more than you could ever imagine.”
But her emails!!!
@Gin & Tonic:
I suppose we should be thankful he killed an actual criminal and not some poor waiter in a pizza joint.
FlyingToaster
@Steve in the ATL: And you wonder why we drink….
FlyingToaster
@Garbo: I’ve been grateful for the policy stuff that is getting reported (Warren, Buttigieg, Beto), and quite cheesed that the MSM is spending time NOT presenting the policy stuff from Harris, Klobuchar and Gillibrand. Dammit, equal time, I do want to see if someone has a different, better or worse, idea on how to approach these problems.
Mind you, I can’t be made to care what Wilmer or Gabbard think. I don’t even know who the hell else is running, but I’m sure there are 6 or seven more.
And Uncle Joe, please, no. Just, no.
gwangung
@FlyingToaster: Which is why I get frustrated when I hear, “Well she/he just doesn’t excite me….”
plato
Is the scummy pos playing the dems or the totus thug?
gwangung
@FlyingToaster:
Heh. I see speculation of a Biden/Abrams ticket.
debbie
@Gin & Tonic:
Any speculation on the connection?

Looking forward to see how well Warren does explaining her tech monopoly break up proposal.
I think she’s been great so far in clearly and forcefully explaining. But I am biased for Warren.

hahahahhahahahhahahhahahahhahahahahhahah
Anne Laurie
@Garbo:
Yup — that’s what I was talking about this morning!
jl
@David ??Merry Christmas?? Koch: Thanks for info. I thought Devin Nunes’ Cow was one of the plaintiffs. I was confused.
Vidya Pradhan
Kirsten Gillibrand on MSNBC was great too
plato
@debbie: A two-fer good riddance.
plato
mad citizen
@Vidya Pradhan: Yes, no love for Gillibrand here? I have cable tonight in a hotel and watched 25 minutes of KG, and have to say I was impressed. I watched Warren start off and it sounded very much like part of her stump speech so I turned to American Pickers.
jk
@gwangung:
Biden is a goddamn buffoon who needs to stay the Hell out of this race. If he’s dumb enough to get in, I hope he gets crushed.
jk
@Vidya Pradhan: @mad citizen:
I’m fine with Gillibrand, but a lot of people are pissed off at her for her role in the Al Franken affair and her handling of sexual harassment allegations by one of her staffers against a superior.
I’d take Warren or Gillibrand over Biden, Beto, or Sanders.
dimmsdale
@gwangung: You’re right, they don’t. Or rather, they (or should I say “we” since, IMO, it’s a human trait) react to the manner in which the policy is conveyed, the “package” the candidate presents, much more than nuts and bolts detail. I like that Liz Warren articulates very progressive policy very clearly, but also with passion, conviction, urgency, and a genuine moral center that really fires people up. It’s way too soon (I frequently remind myself) to be picking a favorite candidate at this point, just …. I’m impressed with her.

@FlyingToaster:
@jk:
Joe Biden is one of the Democratic Party’s great warm-up speakers. I saw him in 2016 and again in 2018. He can grab a crowd — especially in a union hall — and make them proud to be Democrats, make them WANT to be Democrats. I want him coast-to-coast in 2020.
Stirring up the crowd, for someone else.
Gin & Tonic
@debbie: I’d speculate the connection is that he’s a fucking idiot, but that’s just me. It seems that the shooter had an interest in Cali’s niece, and Cali, being a relatively sensible sort, said, uh, no, you won’t be seeing her. Moron being moron, he drove over to Cali’s house, crashed into his parked car to lure him out, then pumped six bullets into his gut.
Many years ago I (briefly) considered sitting for the actuarial exams. I’d say you don’t have to have made a success of them to calculate that this guy’s life expectancy now is a lot shorter than it was two weeks ago.
debbie
@Gin & Tonic:
Indeed. ?
Dave
@gwangung: I’d support this if it was Abrams/Biden. Obviously I’d support it if Biden/Abrams was the general election ticket but I’d really support the Abram’s/Biden ticket.
Ohio Mom
@Dave: Whatever will get the most votes, I don’t care who gets top billing.
Then make Harris AG, Warren Treasury Secretary, Buttigieg HUD…still working on the rest.
SiubhanDuinne
@David ??Merry Christmas?? Koch:
Thanks for the link, but JFC that is one BUTT UGLY site, CNN. Flashing graphics, noisy primary colors, a whole bunch of incompatible fonts. I’m far from being a design person but I know headache-inducing hideous when I see it.

For those who missed it, here the replay on youtube (video)

@BC in Illinois:
I’ve heard enough of Biden to last multiple lifetimes and I’m sick to death of him.
BC in Illinois
@jk:
And I will be happy to go hear him again. Like I say, he reminds me of what JFK said about Adlai Stevenson: He made you proud to be a Democrat.
Biden can describe WHY someone would want to be a Democrat.
And he can be a great help to whatever Democrat we put into the White House.
