Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Black Jesus loves a paper trail.

“Squeaker” McCarthy

They are lying in pursuit of an agenda.

Hot air and ill-informed banter

If you tweet it in all caps, that makes it true!

Insiders who complain to politico: please report to the white house office of shut the fuck up.

They’re not red states to be hated; they are voter suppression states to be fixed.

The willow is too close to the house.

if you can’t see it, then you are useless in the fight to stop it.

Wow, you are pre-disappointed. How surprising.

Conservatism: there are some people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

Make the republican party small enough to drown in a bathtub.

Shallow, uninformed, and lacking identity

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

Anyone who bans teaching American history has no right to shape America’s future.

I’d like to think you all would remain faithful to me if i ever tried to have some of you killed.

The republican caucus is already covering themselves with something, and it’s not glory.

We are builders in a constant struggle with destroyers. let’s win this.

I’m pretty sure there’s only one Jack Smith.

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

Not all heroes wear capes.

Wow, I can’t imagine what it was like to comment in morse code.

I’m not having any luck figuring out how to livestream this (yes, if I weren’t an idiot, I’d have RSVP’d Senator Warren’s email invitation!), but here’s the CNN link…

Does anyone know if these things are available on the internet after the fact?

She’s doing well so far, IMO. Got through the reparations question without dismissing it or committing to anything.

@Baud: I would say YES because the CNN town hall with Pete Buttigieg can be found by googling “CNN town hall Pete Buttigieg”. That one was up on YouTube.

Plus if she does twitter, I’m sure she will have a link to it later.

@Betty Cracker: How is Jake Tapper doing? He was great with Buttigieg and a few of us were wondering earlier whether he would treat a high profile female differently than he treated Buttigieg.

@WaterGirl: He’s more aggressive with his follow-up than he was with Mayor Pete so far, IMO. I am totally unimpressed with Tapper in general. He’s part of the problem.

If people cared more about substance than style, Warren would beat Biden or Beto. She’s clearly better informed and more articulate than either of them.

@Betty Cracker: I was totally shocked by Tapper at the Pete Buttigieg town hall. I haven’t liked Tapper for years, but there he was doing a great job, so I wondered if perhaps I had previously misjudged him. Apparently not.

Agreed. He is part of the problem. They all are. Tapper, Chuck Todd, etc. I cringe when Colbert and other late night people have them on, and they are treated as hot shot royalty. When Preet had a live show with Chuck Todd I was really unimpressed with his choice. Ugh.

edit: As soon as they go to Tapper or Todd, I immediately turn off the show. I can’t bear to watch and I hope against hope that something somewhere has recorded the shutoff as soon as they come out on stage.

She’s really been driving the convo in terms of policy. No one explains the WHY of policy proposals better than Warren.

    @Garbo:

Yeah, Warren would be my absolute dream president, but I think Harris (and maybe a couple of others) have a better shot of winning.

It’s a shame – so many good choices.

(Oh and I caught myself the other day thinking “I don’t think [candidate] really has enough experience to be running for president” and then I slapped myself back into reality.

At this point I’m thinking platform and ultimate legislative agenda. All these great policy ideas are going to end up being adopted in some form by the nominee. And the nominee will be the candidate who ultimately catches fire. I have my favorites, but right now I’m appreciating the high quality lumber that’s being laid down.

@Garbo: I’ve been grateful for the policy stuff that is getting reported (Warren, Buttigieg, Beto), and quite cheesed that the MSM is spending time NOT presenting the policy stuff from Harris, Klobuchar and Gillibrand. Dammit, equal time, I do want to see if someone has a different, better or worse, idea on how to approach these problems.

Mind you, I can’t be made to care what Wilmer or Gabbard think. I don’t even know who the hell else is running, but I’m sure there are 6 or seven more.

Devin Nunes (R-CA) sued Twitter, two anonymous Twitter accounts, and political consultant Liz Mair for more than $250 million, alleging that the defendants engaged in “negligence, defamation per se, insulting words, and civil conspiracy.” In the suit, Nunes accuses Twitter of having a “political agenda” by allowing two anonymous accounts—“Devin Nunes’ Mom” (@DevinNunesMom) and “Devin Nunes’ Cow” (@DevinCow)—and Mair to attack, defame, and demean him.

I’m fine with Gillibrand, but a lot of people are pissed off at her for her role in the Al Franken affair and her handling of sexual harassment allegations by one of her staffers against a superior.

@gwangung: You’re right, they don’t. Or rather, they (or should I say “we” since, IMO, it’s a human trait) react to the manner in which the policy is conveyed, the “package” the candidate presents, much more than nuts and bolts detail. I like that Liz Warren articulates very progressive policy very clearly, but also with passion, conviction, urgency, and a genuine moral center that really fires people up. It’s way too soon (I frequently remind myself) to be picking a favorite candidate at this point, just …. I’m impressed with her.

    @jk:

Joe Biden is one of the Democratic Party’s great warm-up speakers. I saw him in 2016 and again in 2018. He can grab a crowd — especially in a union hall — and make them proud to be Democrats, make them WANT to be Democrats. I want him coast-to-coast in 2020.

Stirring up the crowd, for someone else.

@debbie: I’d speculate the connection is that he’s a fucking idiot, but that’s just me. It seems that the shooter had an interest in Cali’s niece, and Cali, being a relatively sensible sort, said, uh, no, you won’t be seeing her. Moron being moron, he drove over to Cali’s house, crashed into his parked car to lure him out, then pumped six bullets into his gut.

Many years ago I (briefly) considered sitting for the actuarial exams. I’d say you don’t have to have made a success of them to calculate that this guy’s life expectancy now is a lot shorter than it was two weeks ago.

And he can be a great help to whatever Democrat we put into the White House.
