Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

The line between political reporting and fan fiction continues to blur.

The unpunished coup was a training exercise.

Nothing worth doing is easy.

When you’re a Republican, they let you do it.

The republican caucus is covering themselves with something, and it is not glory.

The arc of the moral universe does not bend itself. it is up to us to bend it.

Roe is not about choice. It is about freedom.

So fucking stupid, and still doing a tremendous amount of damage.

The gop is a fucking disgrace.

Washington Post Catch and Kill, not noticeably better than the Enquirer’s.

Something needs to be done about our bogus SCOTUS.

Tick tock motherfuckers!

Giving up is unforgivable.

“In the future, this lab will be a museum. do not touch it.”

“Loving your country does not mean lying about its history.”

Let’s not be the monsters we hate.

White supremacy is terrorism.

I really should read my own blog.

Finding joy where we can, and muddling through where we can’t.

Let the trolls come, and then ignore them. that’s the worst thing you can do to a troll.

At some point, the ability to learn is a factor of character, not IQ.

Giving in to doom is how we fail to fight for ourselves & one another.

Be a wild strawberry.

Michigan is a great lesson for Dems everywhere: when you have power…use it!

Road Trip

I’m heading down to Sullivan’s Island tomorrow with Tammy, Lily, and Samantha. Basically since my parents stayed two weeks longer than normal (because of dad’s heart surgery), my brother, who normally goes down and helps them pack and takes a bunch of stuff back with him could not go as planned. So I have the cargo carrier on the family truckster, the oil changed, and am hitting the road bright and early in the AM.

I’ll have Tammy so there will be lots of pictures.

OT – Not sure when the other front pagers will get around to it, but the Trump campus “Free Speech” EO is some mighty fine trolling.

Taste test result: Mmmm. Someone gave me a passel of avocados the other day. Let them get really ripe and today whipped up some guacamole using a couple of cadged (with permission) Kaffir limes from the next door neighbor’s tree.

I hope you have a great time, John. And YAY for photos of everyone.

OT: The cabin we sold two days ago is back on the market after the buyer’s kids talked him out of buying it. We thought something was up when we didn’t hear from the escrow company yesterday and we got the call this afternoon. So, it’s back on the market and we’re hearing that other agents are asking about it, if it’s still available. Our house in Anaheim took 3 or 4 sales before it stayed sold in 2010; we listed it in April and were in the final escrow by June, which is not too bad if you remember what the market was like. We are not depressed, we thought it a poor choice for a year round home for a man who is 70 and doesn’t use computers. Winters are pretty hard there sometimes. 5 feet of snow is not unusual. He’s Italian-American and spends a lot of time in Italy and wanted a Pied-a-Terre (I’m sure the folks who speak French will correct that term for me if it’s wrong).

I’d like to go back but mr opiejeanne wants to go other places. We missed the big museums because our time was so limited and I’d really like to see them.

@NotMax: Ha! My dad was briefly in London after WWII and he went to a play. He understood everything except what he thought was a local joke told in Cockney so thick it needed subtitles. I don’t think he knew about Cockney rhyming, either, so that might have been part of it.

One of the bits intrinsic to the show Misfits was one of the characters speaking with a lower, lower, lower class accent so thick that Cockneys would be befuddled. There were occasions when other characters’ dialogue within the show included complaints they couldn’t understand her.

John, be careful out there among them English!

(For those who don’t get it, closing of classic movie “Witness”. It became a part of our standard vocabulary ever since seeing the movie.)
