You don’t have a radio in your car?
(Glad all the two-foots and four-foots arrived without incident. Hugs and kisses to Mom and Dad Cole.)

@SiubhanDuinne:
He was too busy with his rap-hop music and such.

a.k.a. Hell’s waiting room.

You mean you don’t have to listen to nonstop blathering about a black hole of mystery whose contents nobody knows jack shit about. Count yourself blessed.

@NotMax:
Before being admitted to Florida?
opiejeanne
@eemom: This! All of what you just said.
And Yay! for safe arrivals.
Aleta
It didn’t drop it was thrown like a frisbee over our heads.
Roger Moore
@eemom:
So much this. The Mueller report didn’t really drop; its completion was announced. That won’t stop everyone and their brothers-in-law from talking about it.
Felanius Kootea
Glad you made it to SC okay.
I think I’m going to stop reading BJ and studiously avoid watching TV this weekend to keep myself from
becoming seriously depressed.
Marathon, not a sprint, I know. But I’m half-wishing my family had decided to migrate to New Zealand
when I was a teen, instead of here. I’ll get over it.
Frankensteinbeck
In a very real sense, it didn’t. He finished it, but neither we nor anybody delivering news has access to it yet.
EDIT – And yes, we’re glad the trip went okay!
TaMara (HFG)
Well then lucky you, you didn’t have to listen to/read/watch everyone predicting that this is the end of democracy because they didn’t perp walk IQ45 out in handcuffs.
zhena gogolia
Boy, Midsomer post-John Nettles is really very, very bad.

@TaMara (HFG): No shit. Wutta buncha gloomy gusses. I’m glad I’m not in a foxhole with them.

Seeing folks talkin bout this feeling like 10pm on Nov 6, 2016…which is why I’m doing exactly what I did then…turned off the news/punditry and watched some tv, read a book, or surfed the net.
Oh and FUQ U GG!
Quinerly
Controversial, I know.
But Alexa for the car.
Tune in Radio.

Road trip, so maybe…

I know I should know better but I can’t help but be disappointed. I didn’t expect a Trump perp walk but maybe something damaging against him. I saw Mazie Hirono on tv and she talked about wanting to see their reasoning behind no indictments concerning possible obstruction of justice. Why fire Comey and threaten to fire so many others if you have nothing to hide?
lamh36
anyway…something to make you smile even with the Mueller news
leeleeFL
@zhena gogolia: I managed to not hate them all, but it took a bit of patience. Nettles was really special on that show. Is the latest season on Netflix yet?
PS. Glad you and the critters arrived safely!

@leeleeFL:
I don’t know — I’m watching on PBS. I don’t have Netflix.

@MomSense: New on Amazon Prime today is Cold War, which I highly recommend.

I just watched the first episode of Amazon Prime series Made in Heaven, seems promising. Zoya Akhtar who made Gully Boy has directed the first episode.

On the one hand, I want to watch Maddow…but I also don’t want to hear anything damn else about the Mueller report.
I do know this…keep our eyes on 2020 and do whatever we can to vote da fuq’er out and stop expecting some sort of salvation from the legal system

JUST STOP IT RIGHT NAOW!

@Tazj: Why fire McCabe? Strzok? Demote Baker? Reassign key lawyers in the SDNY? Reassign Dana Boehnte? Fire Jeff friggin Sessions? This stinks to high heaven. I can’t believe there are no obstruction charges.
Was Sally Yates fired or did she step down after serving as Acting AG?

Say hi to South Carolina for me, John!
I’m kinda fond of the place. Met and married my wife there, and got my doctorate too. That’s a lot to be thankful for.
TaMara (HFG)
@lamh36: Yes. We need to take back the country from all these traitors, not just IQ45. And voted out, then indictment can proceed without issue. Orange won’t just be for his skin tone.

@tobie: Sally Yates was fired but for insubordination because she was not willing to defend the Muslim ban. I had to go back and look that up because I’ve forgotten who was fired,or threatened to be fired or left. It’s crazy.
IANAL, but I have heard lawyers on tv say that the president has a lot of discretion about who he hires and fires but I agree it all seems so suspicious to me.
I’m going with something I’ve seen on the internet tonight which is no matter what the Mueller report says, we all saw obstruction of justice in plain sight. Maybe it’s not possible to prove it, but I believe it. Maybe, more damaging things will come out against the administration in the days ahead but I won’t give up trying to elect someone else for president, and more Democrats in Congress.
raven
@MomSense: We signed up for Acorn to get season 3!

@Jay:
I almost always read the comments on Twitter, because quite often they’re hilarious and there are links to other interesting things.
The exceptions are earnest posts from Democratic politicians and “libtard” celebrities, which do tend to bring out the trolls.

Fox’s Laura Ingraham appears to have been called back to duty before her new face has fully settled…it’s entertaining in a not-good kind of way.
Trumpublicans, this thing is not over, mis amigos. Many, many more investigations and trials and pleas and convictions await your white trash saviors…

@lamh36: Terrible news from Pittsburgh. Racism, and other isms, seem to coming to a boil. My partner’s sister sent him a link to a post claiming “middle eastern men” are accosting people (white?) at gas stations and harvesting their organs. Ha ha! David Brooks just said (on the PBS news hour) that the fact this report doesn’t have any indictments for Trump or his family members tells him that Trump will likely not have a primary challenger. Nice guesswork, Nostradamus.

@lamh36:
The news of such an aquittal is always appalling. The news from Rep. Waters is also appalling, and says a lot about the toxic atmosphere that has descended on America with the Trump presidency.
The news outlets say Boeing has had an order for 737 MAX 8s cancelled. Garuda, the national carrier for Indonesia, had ordered 50 of the planes and already received one. The remaining aircraft were to be delivered between now and 2030.

Even Obama was primaried in 2012. I’m pretty sure some nutjob from the outer fringes of die Gesichterfressendeleopardenpartei* is going to challenge Trump — attempting what Trump himself did to the party’s establishment candidates in 2016.
*For those who lack the patience to type out such a long compound noun, I suggest initials: die GFLP.
Another Scott
I haven’t seen any speculation on when AG Barr will release his redacted version of the Mueller report. I assume that he’s going to do so before 10 AM EDT on Sunday so that all the Trumpist talking heads can go on MTP and the various other Sunday talk shows and claim “no collusion” and “witch hunt” and similar vindication. And the memes will be set for Fox News and Breitbart and all the rest of the RWNJ press.
And then he’ll fight the Democratic House and Democratic Senators to prevent anything else from reaching them. And sit on all the grand jury evidence.
That’s the way they’ll try to play this.
I hope the House invites Mueller to testify and keeps him coming before the Intelligence and Oversight committees for the next 592 days or until Donnie is removed from office.
We’ll see.
[eta:] Oh, and enjoy your weekend with the folks, JC.
Cheers,
Scott.
tobie
@lamh36: I tried to look up how often cops are indicted for excessive use of force but came up empty handed except for this Vox article. The long and the short of it is that you really should not have police officers investigating fellow police officers. And you need someone far removed from the police department prosecuting the cases in court. These past few years have been a lesson for me on how rampant conflict of interest is.
Amir Khalid
@tobie:
Some countries do have just such a setup for policing their police. Britain, if I recall, has an independent commission.

“A federal judge on Thursday struck down FEC regulations barring unauthorized political action committees from using a candidate’s name to mislead voters and attract donations, a ruling critics warned could lead to the proliferation of “scam PACs.”
Paul S. Ryan, vice president for policy and litigation with Common Cause, said the ruling “will embolden scam PACs to trade on the names of candidates to raise money for their own ends from unknowing citizens.”
“The Federal Election Commission (FEC) can and should still be enforcing the ban—and opening a rulemaking to establish new disclaimer requirements for non-candidate websites that use a candidate’s name in the URL,” Ryan added.”

Anyone seen Sorry to Bother You?
First encountered Boots Riley, director of same, like a lotta lily-white late-middle-aged naifs, via Terry Gross and Fresh Air; she done an interview w/Riley on eve of premiere of eponymous pic. At the time heard interview, was particularly innerested, cuz spent some memorable nights in Oakland and was for a stretch seeing a woman from there, which is where Boots is from. (In contradistinction to Oakland Eris was Marin Co. Sabrina — truly, a study in contrasts.)
(Terry, as a quick aside, is, to me, the platonic ideal of the intelligent ever-curious “yeah-I’ll-go-there-but-I’ma-ask-questions-not-stake-positions-cuz-I-don’t-pretend-to-fucking-know-how-it-is-like-some-David-Brooksian-douchebro-and-would-rather-hear-what-you-gotta-say” wise-soul. Irrespective of all, Terry means well and ingenuously tries to do well. Socrates once sezzed if he’s wise, it’s cuz he knows he dunno nothing; seems like, in the best way, a guiding principle for Terry; she *wantsta* know what yer truth is, and is prepared to challenge, call bullshit if necessary, but: you got the floor. You do you, and we’ll go from there.)
Nothing grand to observe, just been listening to a lotta The Coup via library inter-library loan (golibrary!). Like it, lots. Course, it’s vulgar, direct and unorthodox.
It’s also a simmering brew of insistent, quirky, clever, funky, righteously angry and winking fun. It’s hilarious to me — about me — that I’ve only just discovered Boots now, at this late stage of my dotage, but that’s how shit bubbles up to them’s on the periphery of kultcha.

If this relentless drumbeat is depressing you and making life difficult then selfcare by limiting news consumption is a good idea. The process will March on even if we aren’t there consuming every detail as they are released so our constant attention isn’t required. How we feel is under our control if we just choose to take that control. Yes, these are important events we are living through but we can’t be effective agents of change if we’re too depressed to GOTV, help others in our community, etc. Secure your oxygen mask first so you can help others. We don’t know anything yet and until we do it’s just media hyperventilating for ratings; deny them your clicks and get on with what empowers you instead of their endless uninformed speculation. We have to take care of ourselves and not give our life force away.
