This entire thread is epic. I wish I could embed the entire thing for you, but you’ll just have to click over to read the rest of the story (click on any tweet to get you there).
So, hey.
I somehow managed to book a creepy log cabin to do some intensive writing in for a few days…— Tom Taylor (@TomTaylorMade) March 25, 2019
Now, I’m just about to go to bed, but I’m not sleeping through annoying, spontaneous wind chimes, so I head out there…
— Tom Taylor (@TomTaylorMade) March 25, 2019
And I see the wind chimes hanging on a rusty hook. I figure I can reach them, and I walk out onto the porch in my socks.
And the door immediately slams shut behind me. Of course…— Tom Taylor (@TomTaylorMade) March 25, 2019
I don’t think much of it. There’s been possums running all over the roof all night (cute Australian possums, not those weird US ones). It’s the bush, things are allowed to move in bushes…
— Tom Taylor (@TomTaylorMade) March 25, 2019
Now I’m kind of giggling to myself because of how creeped out I’m feeling, so I grab my phone to take a photo of the murder cabin I’m writing in for a few days. Here it is… pic.twitter.com/M6iFVSJofI
— Tom Taylor (@TomTaylorMade) March 25, 2019
A few tweets later and now he knows he’s not alone….. (and of course, someone points out later that there is the shadow of a person in his window…INSIDE THE HOUSE).
And, at 5.30am, in the dark, outside the murder cabin, SOMEONE IS STANDING THERE…
— Tom Taylor (@TomTaylorMade) March 25, 2019
This is ONLY the beginning. Click on the first tweet to read the entire story. Tom is a comic book author, so is funny and suspenseful:
#1 NYT Bestselling writer-INJUSTICE, FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD SPIDER-MAN, X-MEN: RED, DCEASED, BATMAN, WOLVERINE, STAR WARS comics. Creator/EP -THE DEEP on Netflix
And part of his story made it to TIME magazine – but they didn’t stick around for the end.
And I’m imagining all of this was a way for him to procrastinate on his latest project!

There is no way that I would stay in that cabin. Come daylight I’m outta there.
laura
The single swing in motion creeped me out.

@laura: no way I’d wait for daylight to pull a runner.

That was hilarious!

Because of the teddy bear, I think you’re correct, but I’m still curious.

Ah, imagination can terrify! I can never sleep after a scary movie. Every creak is a slasher inching toward my closed door.

Twitter is destructive as a social force and awful as a reading medium.

I am fairly sure the whole thing is a “story,” but very well done!

That was great. Must share.

@Sebastian:
It seemed to support the theory that he was being haunted by the parents of a dead girl.

@Brickley Paiste:
On the contrary, I thought this demonstrated the possibilities of Twitter as a new narrative form.

I just realized that he posted additional tweets two hours ago.

TBH- I took baths rsther than showers for 10 years because of Psycho. Alfred Hitchcock scared me to death!

Twitter Narratives can be good when done well (like here). Done badly, its basically PowerPoint for the internet.
How many dreary, soul-sucking 200-image PowerPoint lectures have I attended over the last 25 years… It’s worse when they give you a binder with all the images collected for you to look at WHILE the presenter reads them aloud as they click by on the big screen.
Gack. Kill me now.

What am I missing? The last tweet I see is about a giant person on the porch?
Sebastian
@zhena gogolia:
That was more than just support.

@leeleeFL: Every house that I lived in I put in sliding glass doors for the shower and tub. Clear are the best. That was the end of shower curtains for me.

@eclare: Hit show this thread, if you dare and it should pull up the rest of them.

@eclare: Click here, it will get you to the entire story…although he may not be done.

@leeleeFL:
I still prefer baths and shower only when I wash my hair. Scarred for life by Hitchcock.
TaMara (HFG)
OMG, he has added more since I posted this thread:

@JPL: I think I still missed some tweets, but I got the main parts. Thanks! And I would have bailed on that cabin in the middle of the night.

This so captures the essence of how I felt recently upon discovering mice live in our building. I’ll never forget waking up one morning at 4, one of the days with the extra large moon, ans seeing a silhouette of a mouse sitting on the window ledge inside my apartment and not 2 feet from me. Sneaking in and out of my kitchen; erecting barricades into the laundry room. Awaking yelling at every random noise. And seeing a mouse-sized hole in the window insect screen just this morning leading into my bedroom.

@TaMara (HFG): Thanks!

@Sebastian:
If you think of it as a work of fiction in Twitter form, it helps.

@West of the Rockies:
I thought the one about the two dogs and a cat showing up at the guy’s apartment door was also done well, and it was clearly nonfictional.

We had a rule – presenter could NOT have a copy of the slides, nor could they read them from looking at the screen. We / they could glance at the slide to grasp the topic, then had to talk about what we knew about the point the slice was making. Vast improvement.
No point to reading the PP to an audience capable of reading! Stupid!!!
Have no idea what the twitter story was really about, think it was creative writing experiment. Got a little ways into it and said, not good enough a story!
