Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

An almost top 10,000 blog!

Anyone who bans teaching American history has no right to shape America’s future.

How any woman could possibly vote for this smug smarmy piece of misogynistic crap is beyond understanding.

If you can’t control your emotions, someone else will.

The most dangerous place for a black man in America is in a white man’s imagination.

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

Let’s not be the monsters we hate.

“Just close your eyes and kiss the girl and go where the tilt-a-whirl takes you.” ~OzarkHillbilly

The arc of history bends toward the same old fuckery.

These are not very smart people, and things got out of hand.

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

Something needs to be done about our bogus SCOTUS.

One way or another, he’s a liar.

Hell hath no fury like a farmer bankrupted.

Just because you believe it, that does not make it true.

Republicans: The threats are dire, but my tickets are non-refundable!

You cannot love your country only when you win.

If you thought you’d already seen people saying the stupidest things possible on the internet, prepare yourselves.

Republicans don’t want a speaker to lead them; they want a hostage.

White supremacy is terrorism.

It is possible to do the right thing without the promise of a cookie.

Every one of the “Roberts Six” lied to get on the court.

“I was told there would be no fact checking.”

Why is it so hard for them to condemn hate?

It’s Not Terrorism When White People Do It

Donald Trump and his Department of Homeland Security have decided they don’t want to bother the very fine people who terrorize America:

The Department of Homeland Security has disbanded a group of intelligence analysts who focused on domestic terrorism, The Daily Beast has learned. Numerous current and former DHS officials say they find the development concerning, as the threat of homegrown terrorism—including white supremacist terrorism—is growing.

In the wake of this move, officials said the number of analytic reports produced by DHS about domestic terrorism, including the threat from white supremacists, has dropped significantly. People in and close to the department said this has generated significant concern at headquarters.

“It’s especially problematic given the growth in right-wing extremism and domestic terrorism we are seeing in the U.S. and abroad,” one former intelligence official told The Daily Beast.

The group in question was a branch of analysts in DHS’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A). They focused on the threat from homegrown violent extremists and domestic terrorists. The analysts there shared information with state and local law enforcement to help them protect their communities from these threats.

We don’t worry about body counts when they’re untermensch.

It somehow only makes sense if we really are just being raised in an NRA-approved game preserve, and really what they object to with foreign terrorists is that they’re poaching, doing a job real ‘mercans actually can do and prefer to do themselves.

We should be thankful that it is not yet state policy to do away with the people these fine people deem to be the “undesirables”. Our government was making asylum seekers sleep on gravel under a bridge last week.
Something that our FPers missed between elebenty posts about a mayor.

    Meanwhile, in the UK:

A neo-Nazi who admitted plotting the murder of the Labour MP Rosie Cooper will not face a second retrial for membership of the banned group National Action.

Jack Renshaw, 23, bought a 48cm (19in) gladius knife to kill the West Lancashire MP and a female police officer against whom he had a grudge, the Old Bailey heard. The plan was scuppered by Robbie Mullen, who was at a meeting in a pub when Renshaw announced he was going to kill Cooper.
    …
However, he denied membership of the banned extreme rightwing group National Action, as did Andrew Clarke, 34, and Michael Trubini, 36, from Warrington.
    …
The court heard how the convicted National Action leader, Christopher Lythgoe, 32, of Warrington, and his right-hand man Matthew Hankinson, 24, from Merseyside, were present when Renshaw outlined his plans.

National Action is the first extreme rightwing group to be proscribed by the government since the second world war. It was banned in December 2016 by the then home secretary, Amber Rudd, over its support of Cox’s murder.

Lythgoe reacted to the news of the MP’s death by telling members they would “just shed one skin for another”. The north-west contingent continued to meet in pubs and trained together at a mixed martial arts gym in Warrington, it was alleged.

Mullen, however, became disillusioned and began leaking information about National Action to the campaign group Hope Not Hate. By July 2017, Renshaw was on police bail for making hate speeches, for which he was later convicted.

Having decided to try to die via “suicide by cop” rather than face a seven-year jail term, he bought a large machete to take revenge on Henderson and kill Cooper. Renshaw unveiled his plan at the Friar Penketh pub in Warrington on 1 July 2017. Afterwards, Mullen, 25, from Widnes, Cheshire, reported the threat to Hope Not Hate and Renshaw was arrested.

    https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/apr/02/man-who-plotted-mps-avoids-retrial-for-national-action-membership

And just to show there are good people on both sides: “It can now be reported that Renshaw is a convicted paedophile who was jailed for 16 months last June months after he groomed two underage boys online.”

I am currently engaged in an argument on a British forum, in which various right wingers are moaning that all this talk of white supremacists is just unfair, because Christchurch is on the other side of the world, and the ADL report saying over half of US extremist killings in the last decade were by white supremacists doesn’t count because the ADL hasn’t got over Hitler (seriously, that’s almost a verbatim quote), and the media is reporting this neo-Nazi plot to murder an MP far too much. Because 9/11. Where do they find these fucking people?
