Today is something neat. I’ve spent countless hours looking out plane windows at the North Atlantic, but I don’t think I’ve seen Greenland! I have, though, taken the far-north-route from SFO to Narita and saw wonder after wonder in the icy north. I think I even saw Russia from my seat!
Have a wonderful day, and enjoy the pictures, everyone.
Today, pictures from valued commenter Lee.
In October we dropped our youngest off in Fontainbleau France for a year of study. On the way back we took advantage of a 3 day layover in Iceland.
On the way back to Dallas from Iceland we passed over Greenland and the weather was clear. It was such a rate occurrence the flight attendants were also looking out the windows.

Greenland
The white dots in the water are icebergs. In a couple of the images you can see glaciers.
Note – sorry folks, couldn’t get the embed working correctly! Do take a look at the whole album!
Thank you so much Lee, do send us more when you can.

The pictures are amazing.

I’ve seen Greenland at least three times. Seattle to London and Seattle to Schipol. It’s amazing how massive the mountains are particularly on the east coast. The middle of the ice sheet has a shimmery optical illusion appearance similar to seeing fake water miles away on a highway on a hot day. It’s probably thin fog over the ice on a warm (relative) summer day. Amazing photos!

Really *ahem* cool! Glad I remembered to click through once I was in a Google platform.

Wow — those are really awesome pics, in that they fill me with awe. It’s amazing the variety of environments that humans have chosen to live in. I did not know until just now that Greenland is part of Denmark.
