This is possibly my most important cat disco tweet so far. ? pic.twitter.com/r7Yq8Bck8r

Regarding today’s news cycle: I could handle the stupid, or the evil, but the combination is really grinding me down.
KITTEN DISCO!
skyweaver
I had no idea how badly I needed disco kitties until I saw it. Thanks for the mood lifter
SFAW
Might be his worst one, too. At least I hope so — more than one of ’em? Oy.

Here is my new favorite Twitter feed when I need comic relief: Three Year Letterman.

I had Spartans over Virginia in my bracket, so I guess I’ll say it’s Texas Tech tonight; just give me a good game and I’ll be happy (happy Dodger fan right now, but they are due to cool off soon).

I was always agnostic about the Bees Gees until my favorite aunt — who is 80+ and a snob of a culture vulture — told me she loves the Bees Gees. “Bet you never imagined that!”
No I never would. I’ll always wonder what memories she has wrapped up in the disco era. In the meantime, the Bee Gees now make me smile and lift my spirits. Something else I wouldn’t have imagined.
Re: the stupidity and the evil. I can put up with the stupidity, have lots of practice with that in everyday life. It is the evil, particularly those jailed and even more so, “lost” little children that get to me. I have no response except that apparently I have turned into a Good German.

@Steeplejack: ok “menthol cigarette” gets a *chef’s kiss* from me, that is quality writing right there
Steeplejack
@M31:
“Tonya” was a nice detail too.

@Steeplejack: I am not a sports person but I went to look at that twitter and it is marvelously in character throughout. I admire anyone who can keep that sort of thing up over time, always finding a new twist.
White & Gold Purgatorian
Thanks. I really, truly needed that. Tried to get one of my older kitties to watch the disco kittens but he put on his bored cat expression and ambled off in search of nourishment.

Everyone in tne blogosphere must be cooking or eating dinner, this is a quiet thread. Time for me to stir some stuff in tne kitchen.

I have a new grand nephew as of last Thursday, and I am making a crib quilt. I just finished the top and I’m making up a package of binding and backing to hand the project off to a woman with a quilting machine. Hopefully I can get it to her tomorrow.
The baby is in Italy and my sister is heading there the first week of May, and says she’ll take it with her if I can get it finished before she leaves.
In other news, we sold the cabin today (again). This time it will probably stick. Two realtors from down in the flatlands where all the houses are cookie-cutter tract houses. They wanted to low-ball us and our realtor warned them that they might make us unwilling to do business with them. So they offered STILL NOT ENOUGH MONEY, DAMMIT! and we haggled even though their first offer they said was the limit, and the second offer they claimed they didn’t want to play this game, which they then played with us and gave us more money. And we got what we thought was fair, and they will be happy because they will think they got a swell bargain.

according to what I just read, Trump just trashed the MLB agreement that had been negotiated with the Cuban Professional leagues, so he’s simply making friends everywhere.

Kitten disco is good. Paul’s Twitter account is great.
Dog walking time. Back in a bit with a report on willow trees’ proximity to houses.

Disco cats! My kind of thing!
For anyone who feels a need to watch foolish people get the cosmic justice they deserve, 11foot8.com is great. Low bridge meets drivers who ignore the flashing signs warning they’re over height. No injuries involved and the bridge is protected from damage by a steel i-beam, so a fine source of schadenfreude.

I keep hearing how Trump never fires anyone personally. How come he fired the Nazi blond without an intermediary doing the dirty work?
trollhattan
Funny!
Had to stop “exercising” my dog with the laser pointer because he took it too darn seriously (being a pointer in real life) and get too amped up. But it was funny as hell.
Note: “just say no” to having your dog climb the wall as in the above video. They weigh more.

Nive 5 hr roundtrip to the ATL and the girl is home safe and sound.

@rk:
Wondered what it would be like to say “no” to a blonde?
Steeplejack
@raven:
Good news! I bet the pooches went crazy.
Did she bring you goodies?

The pollen count here has quieted down sufficiently that I can take the kitties for their walks again. They are delighted. Zooey checked all the lizard hiding spots – I don’t expect to see lizards for at least two more weeks – and Rick did a Wide Patrol, stopping longer than usual at his favorite stopping spots. Some tiny purple and yellow flowers are blooming, and I mean tiny – maybe a millimeter across. I think they’re mustards of some kind but have never been able to find them in guidebooks or online. Also, some of the bare ground weathered in an interesting way. I should get more wildflower seeds out there.

For anybody in the D.C. area who wants to catch up on the PBS miniseries Mrs. Wilson: WHUT (the Howard University station) is showing parts 1 and 2 at 8:00 p.m. tonight. And Part 3 is on WMPT at 9:00 p.m. tomorrow (and on WHUT next Monday).

Huh? I’m still at work. I know the good people of Ohio are almost everyone in the blogosphere, but a couple of us left-coasters have managed to hand-crank our dial-up service and tune in to the intertubes on company time.
FYWP now remembers my nym, but not my e-mail address when I post. FY, WP.

Well, open thread. So I’m very excited to see the show artwork for the African Folktales podcast I’m working on. I just have to reduce the levels of depression I’m having so I can work more consistently on the scripts. But it really is nice artwork. And I contracted with my ex to do some additional artwork for some of the guest spots I’m doing. I can’t wait to show off everyone’s work!

@ruemara: April: in like a dumpster fire, maybe out like a lamb, with some good things happening for you?

@mrmoshpotato: All willow trees are an appropriate distance from houses.
(Didn’t see any willows.)
Gin & Tonic
@rk: He didn’t.
Ohio Mom
@opiejeanne: Congrats on selling the house. Must feel good to have this taken care of.
@Comrade Colette Collaboratrice: Mea culpa. I should have said, taking care of dinner or a sudden rush order at work. And maybe, “still waking up” for our friend Amir in Malaysia.
raven
@Steeplejack: A hat and a shirt.
WaterGirl
@raven: Glad your bride is back safe and sound. Are you in the dog house for not telling her about The Bohdi? (I’m guessing not.)
RedDirtGirl
Thank you for this!
opiejeanne
@Ohio Mom: Thanks, it does feel good to have it sold. It’s two states away from where we live now and while we love the place it’s just getting to be too much for us to manage, plus the worry of not being there all of the time in case something goes wrong.
I’m surprised it sold so quickly; I figured it would take about a year to sell,.
@ruemara: Please let us know when that is available. It sounds very interesting.

@Ohio Mom:
I was up at 6am. Thanks for the thought.
I spent an uncharacteristically productive day yesterday, cleaning four guitars, polishing their frets, restringing and retuning them. I feel so proud.

@Steeplejack: I loved his tips on posting up.

If you go back a few weeks, he has a hilarious video on “devastating downfield blocking.”
