Went to PVSEC for our every six week treatment, and all good news for Lily. Doctor said she was even good enough to get sedated to have her teeth cleaned and have a benign cyst removed. Also, a new bow:
She’s a very good girl.

Oh, beautiful Lily and her bow???

Lily is so sweet.
Quick Bixby update. We had a rough morning and I was terribly worried he was regressing. I shouldn’t have. We had a bunch of company coming and going this afternoon and by the end of it, he wobbled across the living room and back again before falling. He just needed an audience.
He has a clear goal (clear by the fact I’ve had to put baby gates up since day 3) – he wants to go outside. He knows I won’t let him crawl, scoot his way out – he has to walk. 160 lbs of paralyzed dog is not something I can just tote up the landing back into the house.
He is amazing and the most determined dog I’ve ever had (but I knew that five minutes after I picked him up when he was 8 wks).

And I think that is my favorite Lily bow, yet. But I am a sucker for purple and polka dots.

John, is there any possibility of asking you to write a post detailing your whole journey with Lily? She is such a sweet darling, and she’s been such a beam of light in your life, I know that I personally can’t remember this blog without her.
Every photo or video you post of her makes me happy in a really fundamental way, and I think a love fest post about her life with you would be amazing.

We can’t get in to get a second needle aspiration biopsy for Annie for two weeks, but she’s doing okay for the moment. She’s still getting wet food for every meal (breakfast, dinner, and snack) and enjoying the heck out of it. I think it’s going down much easier than the dry food and staying down.
We’re still hoping it will be lymphoma and not a tumor, but we have to grind through the next two weeks to find out. ?

@TaMara (HFG): So very glad to hear Bixby is making progress, albeit slowly! Have you had any additional tests done, like bloodwork and whatnot, to see how his other internals are doing?
ETA: And how are *you* doing? Have you been able to get any sleep?

John,
So glad for you and Lily, and Steve, and all your dogs and birds to come.
Congratulations on how well your spring is going for your whole family!
TaMara, you and Bixby too. Spring is a good time of year for most everyone!
@Mnemosyne:
Glad your Annie is doing better, also too!!
Everyone, take care! Enjoy spring together!

Angel Lily; love the new bow.
@TaMara (HFG): Bixby is all heart. Glad to hear he showed off.
@Mnemosyne: Waiting is so hard. Glad Annie’s enjoying her special food.

Glad to hear it and happy for both of you.

We don’t have a small dog, but tonight after conversations with friends it seems they lose a lot of their teeth.

Glad to hear all the good furbaby news. Lily and that bow are just adorable. Bixby’s courage and determination are inspiring. It’s always encouraging when a pet who’s been poorly, like Annie, is enjoying her food.

@TaMara (HFG):
Thank you for the Bixby update Still??? for him.
The Moar You Know
My dog is not doing well. Diarrhea since Wednesday. Saw the vet, switched to some prescription food, not helping. Going again Monday. Beside myself with worry. This has gone on too long.
He really is my best bud and I love him so.
Just needed to say something.

@The Moar You Know: I’m sorry. It’s just awful watching them suffer and not being able to explain to them that you would make it go away if you could. How old is he?
John Revolta
@The Moar You Know: For diarrhea we always give our dogs rice, lots of rice with some chicken in it so they’ll eat it.
Usually does the trick. (You might need to keep it up for a couple days.)

@The Moar You Know: It’s so sad were our furry partners are sick.

Lily – ah, whose a beautiful girl then?
Bixby – come on baby!
The Moar You Know – sending good vibes your way.
Barbara
@The Moar You Know: @John Revolta: My vet suggested rice and some cooked ground beef or boxed macaroni and cheese.
satby
@The Moar You Know: Third the rice and chicken. It can really sooth their system. Sending good wishes!
One of my dogs gets horrible bloody diarrhea from fancy prescription dog food but is fine after going back to regular dog chow. So sometimes that can make a mild episode worse.
satby
@Mnemosyne: hoping for the best.
@TaMara (HFG): Good news! He’s a very good boy, Bixby is!
My old guy Hershey is doing much better now that he’s got painkillers for the arthritis in his back. Still know his days will be winding down as the spring progresses, but we’re enjoying a lot of spoiling and treats and love.

So happy to read this! We need more good news. Yay for Lily and for John!
Kristine
Yay for Lily and Go! Bixby!
@The Moar You Know: chicken breast or ground beef with rice are the two go-to recipes for unsettled canine GI tracts.
I used to make chicken and rice for Gaby when I was working through her dietary issues. She would pick out the rice and leave it scattered all over the floor, then eat the chicken.
I’ve also been told to add canned pumpkin. 1-4 tablespoons to a meal. Start with the smaller amounts. Hope your pup gets better soon.
Zippity
@The Moar You Know: @Kristine: Pumpkin worked really well for my last dog. It works for both stopping diarrhea and helping with constipation.

@TaMara (HFG):
I am pulling for Bixby (and his loved ones).

Hooray for Lily! She looks so pretty!

@The Moar You Know:
I am sorry to hear your doggie is ailing. As others have said, my vet always prescribes a diet of rice and (in my case boiled) chicken for diarrhea. Giardiasis is a problem in the Seattle area and my pup has picked it up a few times. He needed that diet through the treatment. Hope your pup is in the pink soon!
WaterGirl
@The Moar You Know: It was chicken and rice and pumpkin that turned my kitty around from diarrhea and blood in her stool to perfectly normal in about a week.
@TaMara (HFG): Bixby! What a good boy. I’ll take a willful dog any day of the week when it comes to dealing with medical issues.
@Lily: no wonder she looked so tired yesterday. Trip to the vet and teeth cleaning. Whispers and smooches for Lily in her pretty pink polka dot bow.
Skyweaver
Lily looks wonderful. What a sweet face she has, and definitely the prettiest bow yet. Good girl!

Luca, Heaver of Hairballs, sends meow and purr to Lily and Bixby and TMYK’s doggie and hopes for a good day today for everyone.

Wonderful news about Lily. Let’s hope it goes for a few years.
