So this gentleman rescued and released a baby fawn with an injured leg in 2015. The video just melted me. The second video is of the mother deer and her twins still visiting his farm.
A deer doe abandoned one of her twin fawns, the fawn had injured leg and could not keep up with the mother. I do not support keeping wild animals as a pets, but this was special situation. The baby deer was healed and released back to her real mother. Update: The doe and two her fawns is still around, we seen them through the summer and the autumn.
The bears and wolves in the video are incredible. I’d love to know where he lives. His youtube page says his home is planet earth and more specifically the United States. I’m guessing Alaska? His entire page is full of amazing animal stories.
If you click through to YouTube on the first video, he has more videos of raising the fawn. He really did a good job. We have warnings every spring not to think fawns are abandoned because they are alone – Does leave them all day and come back at night. This was not the case and his efforts to reintroduce this fawn to the wild are nothing but heroic.
Those who follow me on the book of faces might have seen the video of the Cat and the Grizzly eating daisies. Same guy.

Speaking of good things, this makes me want to get out in the woods myself. Morels cooked in butter are to die for.

Nice to have a happy ending. Thanks for posting this.

Animals are so good for my blood pressure. I sometimes see deer in my neck of the woods and drive carefully to avoid hitting one. They’re cute.

Deer here are very tame, and they have deer day care! It’s not uncommon to see 5 or 6 fawns trailing 2 does. There are a couple of does I knew as fawns who seem to remember me – when we first moved back the neighborhood 2 or 3 didn’t flinch a bit when I walked up, while the others scattered, as I’d expect. Maybe 5 years ago during fawn season there were twins and a singleton that lounged a lot next door and I sat for hours after work over the course of a few weeks to photograph them. Even the moms got accustomed to me and would stand right net to the driveway when I’d take Django and Layla for a walk around the circle.
Mr. Q never understood why they’d spook from him. I had to explain that prey animals require a really good sense of scent and unfamiliar scents are presumed to be trouble until proven otherwise. They knew mine.
Thanks for the happy ending videos.

Amazing image on its own, and then I think about the harrowing implications for the person taking the shot.
This year marks 50 years since we first walked on the moon and three more years marks 50 since we last did.

“If you don’t already know: The Punisher is not a good guy. He’s a former marine who now treats every crime as an act of war, and responds in kind. It never occurs to him that his wars might not make communities safer, that even if he targets bad guys war on the streets is bad for good guys and bad even for normal, non-noble but non-evil human beings. He is a man of blood and battle, a torturer and a murderer, and the embodiment of all the ideas that good is defined by its hatred of evil, that men are defined violently imposing their will over others, and, of course, that intent is magic. So, naturally, cops in the US think he’s the greatest.”

I am supposed to be doing 2 very useful things tonight but I made the mistake of just taking a quick peek at BJ and managed to avoid politics BUT got completely sidetracked anyway. Er, thanks. I wonder what this guy does to make a living? I’m seething with jealousy right now. Do check out the video of him making the mouse toy from a remote controlled tank toy.

The Punisher logo is owned and presumably registered by Marvel, so using it without express permission and/or payment for use is a crime. Disney doesn’t hesitate to protect their copyright or trademark by sending cease and desist orders to daycare centers who paint Mickey on the wall, they should do no less about this.

“Knowing exactly what to do with McHugh isn’t easy; but the point is more what she is able to do, not what society is supposed to do for her. She said terrible things and helped empower a destructive social and political movement. She was part of a group of people who took advantage of others’ trust and obliviousness to smuggle racists into polite society. Now, she says, she’s changed. She knows that many people won’t believe that she has. “That’s why I’m saying I take full responsibility for everything I said, every mistake I made, anyone who I hurt in this process, period,” she told me last year.
At age 28, she has made herself unemployable in the career field she chose — even on its fringes. She perpetually struggles to support herself financially. It’s easy to see how someone in McHugh’s position might regret the path she took that got her here. Would she regret it if she still had friends, still had a writing job?
McHugh has a message for the people on a similar path, though, one that can be considered regardless of whether you believe she’s actually changed.
“People like me should be given a chance to recognize how bad this is and that the alt-right is not a replacement for any kind of liberal democracy whatsoever, any kind of system; they have no chance, and they’re just harmful,” McHugh said. “There is forgiveness, there is redemption. You have to own up to what you did and then forcefully reject this and explain to people and tell your story and say, ‘Get out while you can.’”

@Omnes Omnibus: Thank you for your note but?? the info about Darius Sasnaukas must have come through while I was typing, not sure what Operation Fortitude relates to? Nor The Punisher…. must have missed a step somewhere as usual. No biggie, it’s late.
All I want to know is how one manages to eat and pay rent while driving around gorgeous country in a golf cart, maintain a seemingly tidy house and grounds, and feed a multitude of critters.

Way late to a now dead thread, but I was reminded of this little girl who was a regional celebrity back in the day. Butler is the first town across the border from Ohio on US 6, so quite near where I grew up.
