Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Meanwhile over at truth Social, the former president is busy confessing to crimes.

Republican obstruction dressed up as bipartisanship. Again.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

Hot air and ill-informed banter

A snarling mass of vitriolic jackals

Technically true, but collectively nonsense

Authoritarian republicans are opposed to freedom for the rest of us.

My years-long effort to drive family and friends away has really paid off this year.

Trump’s jealous that Fox News is seeing other people. Totally normal.

Be grateful you’re not the MAGAt minion(s) tasked with spending their Sunday evening toggling between the minute-by-minute ratings for the Game of Thrones / Glory of Trump competition… because there *will* be tantrums.

It’s true that Donald Trump is an expert on rage-Tweeting, so at least one subject in the interview will be right up his alley.

I watched the Buttigieg Town Hall. Once I realized how much it was bothering Trump that Fox was cheating on him, it was a no-brainer. I hope a lot of Fox regulars tuned in to give it high view ratings.

I have long wondered why people buy crew socks. If you are wearing pants, regular socks work just fine. If you are wearing sneakers and shorts, regular socks work just fine. Other types of casual shoes, you can wear with shorts, you can just skip socks all together.

But today, I finally get it!

I have a pair of Sketchers slip on shoes. I wanted to wear them out, but it didn’t feel right without socks. Regular socks would look weird, with those shoes, while in shorts. But crew socks would work! They would look just fine with the shoes.

I finally get why people want to wear crew socks.

I don’t know how often enlightenment like this can strike a person.

    Crew socks are mid-calf length.

At this point in life I find any regular socks so constricting that they simultaneously end up making my feet throb and hurt – a lot – and wind up causing the ankles and feet to become swollen. Crew socks would be even worse than quarter socks.

Can get away relatively discomfort free with those no -show types of socks if needs must, provided I stretch out the elastic first.

Only time I wear socks anymore is when in NY annually, and even then grudgingly. Other than that, it’s no socks and sandals or barefoot year round.

Only own one pair of long pants at this point and have yet to ever wear them during 35+ years Hawaii. Shorts are acceptable attire in even the chi-chiest of restaurants on this isle.

Someone always can put my own small troubles in perspective. While I was taking the dogs out for the last potty break before bed my neighbor came by my yard to tell me why some cars of her visitors were parked blocking our rarely used alley. Her family has gathered because her youngest son had died after falling from his bike and striking his head. She’s a couple years younger than me and I think her son was in his late thirties with a couple of young children. Just heartbreaking.

Hershey continues to rest comfortably and even deigned to eat a bit. He lets me know when he wants to go out and come back in. So, one more day together with snuggles.

Brit Hume – whose apparent sole job at Fox News is to dishonestly pander to Trump supporters – decided he’d had enough of Trump’s crap. He tweeted this message to Donald Trump: “Say this for Buttigieg. He’s willing to be questioned by Chris Wallace, something you’ve barely done since you’ve been president. Oh, and covering candidates of both parties is part of the job of a news channel.” Trump is angering his allies, at precisely the wrong time.

Any more I have to watch my hands to get them doing anything correctly and even then there’s always a chance that they will do whatever the hell they want. Using a knife takes a lot of concentration. Typing is about 50% correcting mistakes and I used to be a pretty good typist. Hands fingers, feet, they don’t really go where I tell them or do what I think I’ve told them.

Amir Khalid My dad was the king of the cringe worthy pun. I try to keep up his tradition, but the apprentice never reached the heights of the master.

Omnes Omnibus – Kind of upset with kindness too. I was planning on binge watching in a week or so. The James Corden show rudely spoiled the war in the North with a joke about being a spoiler. Things are really slowing down around here when I wake up to the same open thread I went to sleep on.
My own Lazarus is bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning, jumped up to go potty outside, enthusiastically gobbled his canned food hiding his medicines that he was refusing yesterday, and is again snoozing contentedly at my side. Just in case the new food was causing all his miserable symptoms he’s getting chicken and rice today.
