Message from party-sparking commentor PsiFighter37:
I would be interested in meeting up with local Juicers while on some upcoming business trips! There are a couple of dates below, if there can be a quorum found for either:
-Thursday, June 6 – Milwaukee, WI
-Thursday, June 27 – LA (preferably in the West LA / Santa Monica area, but am flexible)
P.S. If you’re jealous, remember — all you need for a meet-up is the interest, plus two or more jackals. Propose one in your town here, or send me an email!

June 27 in LA would probably work for me. Just FYI however I think it’s the second night of the Dem debates.
PsiFighter37
@FelonyGovt: I’m sure we can find a bar that will humor us and put it on. If it’s the night Wilmer is on, though, maybe we can keep it off…

FWIW, I am in Milwaukee.

I’m game, though the westside on a week night is kinda sucky.

@FelonyGovt:
As long as there’s internet reception, we have Balloon Juice.

Looking forward to seeing the group photos.

Vancouver, BC, late July / early August.
Victoria, BC after 10 August.

@?BillinGlendaleCA: I’m flexible as mentioned – I have to check my schedule, but I’ll likely be free and clear by mid-afternoon. IIRC, the last time we did one out in LA that I attended (which was May 2013, IIRC – wow does time fly), we met up at Golden Road Brewing. Something like that would be totally fine by me. I just can’t stay out too late, as I have an early-morning drive to the Mojave Desert that I need to do.
PsiFighter37
@zombie rotten mcdonald: Sold! I am staying in the downtown area, if that is generally an okay spot to meet up. I’ll probably be free and clear after 7PM at latest (likely a little earlier).
?BillinGlendaleCA
@PsiFighter37: I liked Golden Road since I could walk there, but I have a more reliable car now, but traffic can suck getting to the westside from here. The Mojave should be good for stargazing about that time, favorable moon(though new moon isn’t until early July).

@PsiFighter37:
Golden Road was a bit noisy but the location is a lot better for me. And I’m the same as Bill, the west side in the late afternoon on a work day would be tough and I don’t normally get off till 5 although occasional early departures are possible. Probably take me bare minimum of 2 1/2 hrs from the east SG valley, 45 to Glendale. I end up in WLA at least once every month or so and in June have to be there on the 17th and 24th. Twice in one week is not really my idea of fun.

@PsiFighter37:
I work downtown, over by the new arena. There’s lots of great places all over, but particularly in the Third Ward.

@SiubhanDuinne: Everybody at BalloonJuice has problems. Yours may work out.
ruemara
I could be in LA for this.

@ruemara:
Great!

@HinTN: I would love to meet up in either (grew up in Victoria) but unfortunately I’m in suburban Toronto.
Anyone in Erie the weekend of June 7?
dmsilev
Can’t do the afternoon on the 27th, but could probably manage evening for a while (not too late; have regular Friday AM meeting to get to…).
Fair Economist
I’d be interested in a June 27th LA meeting. West LA is far for me (Orange County) though, especially during rush.
Yutsano
I already e-mailed AL about this, but I will be in Seattle from Saturday until Tuesday. I originally had family plans but those felt through.

Whenever 2 or more of us are gathered in his name sounds a bit cult like.
Inspectrix
My lurker spouse (who introduced me to this site) and I will be in Portland, OR the week of Aug 11 in case that date works for some locals.
Yutsano
@zombie rotten mcdonald: OO is in Madison, which I discovered last year is much closer to Milwaukee than I thought.
Mnemosyne
Yutsy and I are working on a possible meetup in Portland (Oregon) on June 14th. The one thing that has me nervous is that I’m coming in via Amtrak, which is prone to lengthy delays. I would hate to convene the jackals and then be stuck on the tracks somewhere south of Portland.
something fabulous
LA would likely work for me too! I am also an East-sider, if it trending that way, not going fully west would be easier for me too…
Mnemosyne
For the LA meetup, the Grand Central Market downtown seemed to work out fairly well when lamh36 was in town. I’m in the Valley, so the westside on a weeknight would be pretty painful.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@Mnemosyne: Parking can be a bit pricey in Downtown, I guess Metro’s an option(it wasn’t for me last time since I was coming from a shoot).
Mnemosyne
@?BillinGlendaleCA:
I was thinking Metro, though I would have a longish ride on the Red Line. Pasadena folks would have a reasonably easy time on the Gold Line.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@Mnemosyne: It’s about 1/2 hour from Universal City to downtown, about the same from Pasadena to downtown(they do street running* though Highland Park).
*This means that they have to stop at traffic signals.

@?BillinGlendaleCA:
How ’bout the Arts District?
thalarctosMaritimus
@Yutsano: So of course, I just would be in Wenatchee when you’re in town…*pout*.
If y’all do meet up, I’ll have to miss it, but keep me posted the next time you’re in town.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@James E Powell: The Arts District would require driving unless it was really close to the Little Tokyo station. I’d prefer Grand Central, even though I thought it about as noisy as Golden Road.
something fabulous
@?BillinGlendaleCA: I’d vote for Grand Central too; wider range of food choices than Golden Road among other things. And recently when I met up with some other friends there (I know! I’m seeing other meetups!?), we found it actually quieter to my surprise in the outside area.
Ruckus
@Mnemosyne:
Grand Central would work for me, gold line/red line, I’m there, probably less time than driving to Glendale. And if so inclined I could just take the Metro link to downtown, I walk by the station every day to and from work. Gold line ends about 1 1/2 mile the other direction.
Fair Economist
@?BillinGlendaleCA: Metro Park ‘n Ride is a not too pricey and not too stressful way to get to downtown. Way preferable to the Westside for me.
Felanius Kootea
Looks like I’m too late to make a plug for the west side but the Firestone Walker brewery in Venice isn’t bad. Plus I can walk there ;). Love the Grand Central Market though it’s hard to make it there on a weeknight but the possibility of McConnell’s Ice Cream might make it happen.

@PsiFighter37: Looks like we don’t get much action for Milwaukee. No matter; turns out I am probably meeting another friend of mine that night, so we would be happy to meet you and whoever else might show up, even if we can’t really call it a BJ meet-up for definitional reasons…..
