Today, pictures from valued commenter realbtl.
I live on 5 acres back a short dirt road with about 10 others. There is a constant movement of turkeys and deer with some surprises. Enjoy.
(I don’t pay attention to dates so all are dated today though shot by me over the last 15 years.)Taken on 2019-05-14 00:00:00

This pileated woodpecker showed up and demolished this log in less than a week.

Up the road
Late Spring they start to congregate for mating.

down the road
My neighbor caught this guy walking down the road. Bears aren’t common right here but they wander through sometimes in Spring.

Out living room window.
There is a spring fed lake about 50 yards down the hill from my house. Spring and Fall the bald and golden eagles come around, Summer I can watch the Osprey fish.
It’s hard to appreciate how big eagles are. A deer went partially through the ice a few winters ago and there were about 8 eagles feasting. Gives a better view for scale.
Thank you so much realbtl, do send us more when you can.
Travel safely everybody, and do share some stories in the comments, even if you’re joining the conversation late. Many folks confide that they go back and read old threads, one reason these are available on the Quick Links menu.

I’m impressed by what that woodpecker accomplished.

I love pileateds. They are so prehistoric looking as well as majestic. Wonderful pictures.

@mrmoshpotato: Best (missed) turkey shot is of my Thanksgiving turkey on the Weber and 2 or 3 wild ones walking by it.

Fun pics, thanks! It looks like a lovely area.
If Dorothy got a close look at a Pileated woodpecker in action she would not be the least surprised. I’ve heard the local one calling in the woods just a couple of days ago. So far it has not been back to try to take apart my window trim, although it made a damn good start last year.

@realbtl: Damn. Thanksgiving turkey/to-be Thanksgiving turkeys.
Nice getting-mooned-by-our-national-bird shot too.
