Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

There are more Russians standing up to Putin than Republicans.

Take hopelessness and turn it into resilience.

It’s easier to kill a dangerous animal than a man who just happens to have different thoughts/values than one’s own.

Tide comes in. Tide goes out. You can’t explain that.

Boeing: repeatedly making the case for high speed rail.

… gradually, and then suddenly.

When I decide to be condescending, you won’t have to dream up a fantasy about it.

I wonder if trump will be tried as an adult.

He seems like a smart guy, but JFC, what a dick!

DeSantis transforming Florida into 1930s Germany with gators and theme parks.

Every one of the “Roberts Six” lied to get on the court.

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

Republicans want to make it harder to vote and easier for them to cheat.

Relentless negativity is not a sign that you are more realistic.

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

The worst democrat is better than the best republican.

We’ll be taking my thoughts and prayers to the ballot box.

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

“Cheese and Kraken paired together for the appetizer trial.”

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

Every reporter and pundit should have to declare if they ever vacationed with a billionaire.

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

So many bastards, so little time.

Happy indictment week to all who celebrate!

Dr John RIP, but what a way to go, New Orleans-style.

Now back to our regularly scheduled fund-raising, it’s still early, and I think it’s quite possible that Trump will get blown out, but if he doesn’t, I think the race comes down to Wisconsin and North Carolina. There’s a special election in NC-9 coming up and it looks to be close. This is the race that is being done a second time because of Republican voter fraud the first go-round. The Dems have a great candidate in Dan McCready. Let’s help him out.

Buena Vista? Heck, we’ve got one in northern Illinois, but it’s unincorporated (i.e. very rural).

Buena Vista is an unincorporated community located along Richland Creek in Stephenson County, Illinois at latitude 42.426 and longitude -89.678. The elevation is 797 feet. Buena Vista is in Orangeville Community School District. The Jane Addams bike trail passes through Buena Vista. Wikipedia

Saw a guy held down at gunpoint in Buena Vista. I think it was a bounty hunter collecting. I called 911, I think it was the Orange County Sheriff’s office forwarded me to Buena Vista PD, who showed up in a few minutes. We stayed in Anaheim or Santa Fe Springs after that.
PS: Disney calls their home video Buena Vista distribution.

    All Republican outrage is fake.

Also, white presidents (except for low-class Democrats) should have a luxurious lifestyle befitting the leader of the free world. If it’s a black president, they don’t deserve it and they’re stealing from us.

For those who want to know what’s funny about the local pronunciation of Buena Vista, Virginia, “Buena” is pronounced to rhyme with “Beulah”. Elizabethton, Tennessee, is “uh-liz-uh-BETH-ton”, with the first “uh” barely there. Fun with place names!

@chris: You are either in Nova Scotia or Louisiana. “Evangeline” and all of that. I know you are in NS so I don’t worry about you with snakes and gators.

When I was a youngster in FL they imported rogue gators from LA to FL. Couldn’t kill them because they were endangered, but too many in Loiuisiana, so they dumped them in N Florida.

I lived and worked in Bristol VA/TN (“A Good Place To Live”) for 5 years before I escaped, so I not only know how Elizabethton is pronounced, I’ve even been there a few times. (I also had reason to be aware of the pronunciation of Buena Vista, VA, but the reason escapes me now. Long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.)
