Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

We know you aren’t a Democrat but since you seem confused let me help you.

Not loving this new fraud based economy.

Someone should tell Republicans that violence is the last refuge of the incompetent, or possibly the first.

Sadly, there is no cure for stupid.

The rest of the comments were smacking Boebert like she was a piñata.

Reality always lies in wait for … Democrats.

the 10% who apparently lack object permanence

This must be what justice looks like, not vengeful, just peaceful exuberance.

Beware of advice from anyone for whom Democrats are “they” and not “we.”

Usually wrong but never in doubt

It’s pointless to bring up problems that can only be solved with a time machine.

After dobbs, women are no longer free.

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

Wake up. Grow up. Get in the fight.

Boeing: repeatedly making the case for high speed rail.

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

In my day, never was longer.

You don’t get to peddle hatred on saturday and offer condolences on sunday.

Whatever happens next week, the fight doesn’t end.

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

Accountability, motherfuckers.

Republicans: “Abortion is murder but you can take a bus to get one.” Easy peasy.

Radicalized white males who support Trump are pitching a tent in the abyss.

Come on, media. you have one job. start doing it.

And who finished 19th out of 20? The one and only FLOTUS Birther McBirtherface (thank you, Betty Cracker, this name is now ingrained into my brain forever). I can only hope that finding this out makes for a miserable day for the orange turd.

Just rewatched “Years and Years” again. It is a truly frightening series. I think the most frightening scene is Emma Thompson’s character Vivian Rook explaining to a bunch of companies who are bidding to run the concentration camps (and as for “running” we mean maintaining the bricks and mortar not doing anything for the people inside) how “concentration camp” is just a term “you could have a camp full of oranges and it would be a concentration of oranges”. She also explains the historical background of the Boer War where the Brits placed the homeless people displaced by the war into camps where “nature took its course, disease and pestilence took care of the problem”. The matter of fact way that she described her policy is absolutely chilling. If you get a chance to watch the whole series, do. It really should be required watching as to how things can get when good people do nothing.

Before I looked at the details, I was going to write, “Does the Queen of England know about this?”

But I see that Her Majesty is in the top 10.

Also Interesting to see that Hillary Clinton also ranks higher than Melania.

I love wandering at night along Wellington waterfront, in some places you can hear something that sounds like a cross between a really angry donkey and a mournful demon which lets you know that there are penguins near by :)

Having said that, the announcer is wrong about pigeons and politicians being the only wildlife around, Wellington now has a great deal of native wildlife co-existing (thanks to a fully fenced wildlife sanctuary about 30 minutes from the city centure). It’s been absolutely amazing over to years to go from just the occasional tui to a full on dawn chorus with destructive parrots:
