Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Schmidt just says fuck it, opens a tea shop.

New McCarthy, same old McCarthyism.

We still have time to mess this up!

We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.

In my day, never was longer.

Never entrust democracy to any process that requires republicans to act in good faith.

Come on, man.

Jesus, Mary, & Joseph how is that election even close?

Some judge needs to shut this circus down soon.

Accountability, motherfuckers.

The revolution will be supervised.

Not all heroes wear capes.

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

Let’s not be the monsters we hate.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

Damn right I heard that as a threat.

Accused of treason; bitches about the ratings. I am in awe.

Do not shrug your shoulders and accept the normalization of untruths.

“Can i answer the question? No you can not!”

No offense, but this thread hasn’t been about you for quite a while.

Within six months Twitter will be fully self-driving.

Optimism opens the door to great things.

Nancy smash is sick of your bullshit.

This is amazing…a font created entirely out of gerrymandered districts:

Go here for a proper, high resolution image of the font, and the chance, if you’re so minded, to download it for free.

Here, by the way, is my first composition in this latest gem in the long history of typography:

It’s all a hoot — but it hurts too much to laugh.

(Note: this was up for ~15 seconds last night, but I pulled to avoid triggering my werebigfoot side.)

The Ratcliffe stuff is really something. Haven’t seen a Trump pick for a big job fall apart so quickly since at least last month. https://t.co/iITvH1BC5e

@CincyPD confirms one arrest made tonight. Dallas Frazier is charged with assault after punching a protester. I spoke with the man assaulted. He’s getting checked out at the hospital.

Police have *not* confirmed Dallas is a Trump supporter. Several witnesses told me he is. @WLWT pic.twitter.com/Z2todkEdIu

@rikyrah: You would think this would be obvous. As tens of thousands in the antebellum South showed, including Thomas Jefferson, having sex with a black person is compatible with believing blacks should be property that can be bought, sold and raped with impunity. As Strom Thurmond showed, having sex with a black person is compatible with running for President as a protest against stuff like Truman desegregating the army.

Hey, wait a minute, some of those letters are two districts put together.
But on closer inspection, some of those two district letters are made up of two very weirdly shaped districts.
But few made up of two districts, hard to tell if each district is outrage or not.

Actually the Arizona 6th isn’t all that terribly gerrymandered, because Arizona (since a voter initiative in 2001) has an independent non-partisan commission to draw the districts. (and how the R-controlled lege howled and gnashed their teeth about it in 2011) which is why Arizona actually has competitive congressional districts…
