I went to the park to do some reading today. On the way there, I passed by some folks having a normal and good one, throwing us a MAGA rally across the street from Trump Tower. House left we have a sign that calls for the imprisonment of Hillary Clinton. You can’t see it, but the next MAGA hat over was wearing a shirt that said, “Hillary Lost, Ha Ha Ha.” They seemed to think mentioning the loser of the 2016 election was better than mentioning the winner.
You might notice, on the far right, the flags of Israel and South Korea. They were also chanting “We love Israel!” as I walked past. In other words, it was as coherent as any other right-wing rally I’ve ever seen. Sad!
I’m kind of surprised they used the correct Korean flag. At any rate, I soon moved on to better views.
How are the dregs of the weekend treating you? I did my writing this morning, so now I’m playing Kerbal Space Program. I bought the new expansion and started a new career mode game; I’m trying to make it to (and, the tricky part, from) the Mün.

Why is the guy with the sign asking for Kissinger to be arrested with Obama and Hillary? Is that part of Qanon?
Sab
What a gorgeous day in the park you are having.

Just had a nice late lunch/early dinner with my in-laws. We took two cars, so those of us in the car without house keys are waiting for the car that has them. Sigh.

I’m just winding down from 3 days of sports car racing in Wisconsin with my fiend and out 15 yo grandsons. Kids had a great time but the humidity is killing me. Back to Montana tomorrow where it is pleasant.

The woman with the white hat, American flags, Bible, and hanging on to the (apparent) Donnie 2020 Keep America American flag, was certainly trying to cover all the bases.
:-/
Cheers,
Scott.

What makes you think they used the correct Korean flag? Isn’t it equally likely they meant to praise NoKo?

Jennifer Rubin brought the fire in her column today:

@Mike J: There are some posters leaning against the metal barriers on the right that seem to have Korean symbols on them. If so, they seemingly picked the correct flag for their message (whatever that message might be).
Corrections welcome.
Cheers,
Scott.

@Orange is the New Red:
They are conservatives, maybe they are conserving a sign they made years ago. Maybe the guy’s a moron and has no idea what day or even what year it is. Or maybe he’s a moron who thinks that HRC got an unfair review of her many
lawbreakinglaw abiding shenanigans that have paid off so well for her. You know being first lady, being SoS, winning the popular vote or possibly he’s pissed that she fixed the EC vote so she’d lose……. Whatever it is there is probably zero logic behind the concept.Omnes Omnibus
@Orange is the New Red: And why is the Kissinger stuff in red but not the Obama and HRC stuff? Is it like the bibles where Christ’s actual words are in red so the fundies can ignore them?
@realbtl: Elkhart Lake? What cars were you running? And see how nice I am about not mentioning the fiend thing?

Watching Cards at A’s. Thinking about what to do for dinner.
ETA: One of the A’s announcers is complaining about the jalapeno mustard’s spiciness. Haha

How are your rendezvous/docking skills? An Apollo-style ‘lander goes to the surface, then docks with orbiting return craft’ works a lot better than a single ship which does everything. Assuming, of course, the rendezvous and docking parts….
The robotic parts in the expansion are fun to play with; the new surface science stuff they added are more ‘meh’ IMO.
realbtl
@Omnes Omnibus: IMSA. Whole array of cars from touring to full on prototypes. Third year, brought my grandson along last year and he love it. Road AM is a great track as you can get much closer to the track than most.
And that should by ‘our grandsons” to avoid confusion.

The last time I bothered walking on that stretch of Fifth Avenue, there was a guy holding a ‘Shithole’ sign with an arrow pointing towards Donnie’s Shithole Tower. I approved.

@Mary G: Converts are often the most fervent. Jennifer Rubin, at least for the time being, is proving that to be the case.

Repubs blaming video games. I must have missed Fortnite: Pepe strikes back.

@dmsilev: my skills in that area could be better. I’ve thought about trying an Apollo style thing.
I’m excited for the surface features, actually, because what I actually needed to get back into the game was fetch quests on the planets.

@realbtl: This being my birthday weekend, I should mention that my dad dragged my mom there in July of the year I was born – when she was 8+ months pregnant. Apparently, I kicked like hell every time a car went by.

Back from a weekend in the Hamptons, at a friend’s house. Lovely time, and the Atlantic was not too unbearably cold yesterday so I actually swam in the ocean for the first time in a couple years (rather than my usual habit of dipping my feet and saying, “That’s enough!”), but the trip back to the house was spoiled by the sight of some rich a-hole flying a Trump flag from his docked boat. Blergh.
Now trying to motivate myself for a run in Central Park (the north end, though, opposite end from where M4 was). Blergh also, but for different reasons.

I’m surprised Armani didn’t have someone shoo them away.
(Ah, Central Park, looking as good as ever!)

Happy to field any questions about KSP. I’ve got more time in it than I care to state. My son is one of the modelers on the (IMO) excellent Restock mod.

That’s some security barrier they have. Why even bother?

Speaking of open-ended electronic time-wasters, I spent some of the afternoon screwing around in Factorio. More conveyor belts!

It’d be cool if Hillary would drive by in a convertible honking her horn at them.

@dmsilev: I am. He’s quite good at it as he has an encyclopedic knowledge of pretty much anything sent into space. A few years ago we went up to JPLs open house and he corrected an engineer regarding what kind of rocket launched his satellite. He learned programming and digital logic playing Minecraft. He got into 3D modeling after getting his Solidworks certification. He’ll tell me what he’s working on and I’ll throw some curve at him “it’d be really cool if it could do X” knowing full well that’s hard as shit to do, and then he figures it out. My little contribution to the quality of that set. There’s a few features in there just for me.
I’m quite experienced at Factorio as well. Building a 1 RPM (rocket per minute) base now in 0.17, trying to do it with some recursive blueprints. Because the only thing better than playing video games is teaching them to mostly play themselves.

Is it just me or do others find the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UCF) obscene?
To me it is like watching an animal being tortured.
I will not allow it on my TV.
Seems a perfect fit for Trump spawn Uday and Qusay and I see they were there.

I took a nice walk too, though a cemetery. My colleague wanted to shoot some IR at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, it’s got a nice water feature(actually a couple: one for William Andrews Clark and one for Douglas Fairbanks, Sr and Jr.).

@Jharp: What’s obscene about grown men beating the shit out of each other in the name of competition? /s

Coming to the end of our holiday on the Black Isle in northern Scotland, having enjoyed a series of ridiculously sunny days for a place roughly on the same latitude as Oslo. Drinking local beer in the tent while listening to the waves pound the rocks about 20 metres away. Home on Wednesday, when I can again start fretting about the absolute clustershite my country is being dipped in by the Second Rump Parliament.
Roll on the Election, I so want to vote these white-blooded pricks out.
