When it becomes clear that Trump pressed William Barr to investigate Biden, this testimony will be proof Barr lied to Congress in furtherance of a criminal conspiracy.

And so she should!

She always seems to be feeling good.
Rashida Tlaib too.
Sounds like the House has the 218 votes needed for impeachment.
@HumboldtBlue: I hope they investigate more. There seems to be so much there.
Lawyers want paying:
Since we were talking about coasts d/s, this is a coast.
My preference for impeachment is a slow roast. Let the juices seep till early fall of next year. That way when the Republicans in the Senate refuse to vote to remove the President from office it will be used to bludgeon them at the polls in November. I mean if we removed Trump from office tomorrow we’d have President Pence and he’s a crazy Dominionist. Those people scare the shit out of me.
You call that a coast? Pfftt! That’s not a coast, that’s a rocky outcropping near a Del Taco.
This is a coast
(I can’t compete on the photo credit, however, pics are from HumCo Visitor’s Bureau)
I don’t think there is any hurry. I think Pelosi sensed Trump might indict himself and she’ll be happy to let it continue.
On the downside, this whistleblower scandal made damn near everybody forget about the *other* whistleblower report of somebody putting pressure on the IRS over Trump’s (required) tax audit.
@HumboldtBlue: Yeah. I was driving myself nuts watching TV today.
@kindness: I’d love to roast trumpov (and the GOP) for the next year too, but unfortunately I don’t think we have that luxury anymore. He is melting down on a daily/hourly basis and nuclear codes aside, our country – and the world – needs stable leadership from the US. It’s just the reality of the situation.
For Pence: he will be so hamstrung by the same inquiries that undid future Bedlam patient trumpov, I doubt he will be able to do much and certainly won’t rally the GOP in 2020. It’s not like he’ll turn us into Gilead overnight.
It’s funny: even my pro-trumpov RWNJ dad calls Pence “Mullah Pence”. That’s not data, of course, but I don’t think he has the chops or organization or any of it to pull the GOP together in the wake of what’s about to happen to trumpov.
“Seems like you ought to be able to answer.”
Goodness, that was exciting. Lead me to a voting booth.
On another note, I have never made puff pastry before. Just learned of this website and I think it’s time I give it a shot.
Pence is no Trump. He probably wouldn’t even be the nominee.
If Trump somehow got the idea that impeaching Barr would get him off the hook, he’d dump Barr in a minute. Now, how to get that idea into his head… It seems unlikely that I’ll be invited on Fox and Friends and allowed to “accidentally” blurt it out.
btw, an interesting sidebar question: who/what put it into trumpov’s head that all the answers to his problems involved squeezing Ukraine? “It was really them hacking in 2016…they might even have Hillary’s server…you should bring them to heel and demand they help you in exchange for a paltry amount of military aid…”
Truly, I wonder.
Rachel said Roger Stone is using something like that argument in his defense in the criminal case.
Practically no one is talking about a (possible) shutdown on October 1st.
@Jeffro: Yeah, he’s a Domininist and has the charisma of cold oatmeal. He was getting run out of Indiana before being thrown the mother of all lifelines.
@HumboldtBlue: That’s not a coast. This is a COAST.
Embiggen your screens for this one.
Never has there been such a concentration of criminals committing so many felonies in one place at one time. A black hole of criminality from which nothing good escapes.
@?BillinGlendaleCA: @HumboldtBlue: This, too, is a coast. The Baccaro light last Sunday on a beautiful calm day.
The inside of that blob of orange goo is not fit to see by man nor beast. It’s way too terrifying. And once seen, it can not be unseen. All we need to know is that the outside of it is very bad, very stupid, very demented, and very much in need of a rest with a wrap around jacket and bars on the doors.
@HumboldtBlue: Closest Del Taco would be about 20 miles away in Newbury Park.
@Keith P.: @NotMax: I’m glad you two are keeping a notebook. Please add it to the forest of notebooks :P
In all honesty, those are both huge issues on their own. Any other admin…
(Sort of) shortcut method.
@Baud: Ok, but…if trumpov resigns or is removed in the next few months, Pence takes the oath and is the prez. I don’t doubt there would be all kinds of GOP internal warfare going on, but seriously…who else would have any credibility to knock incumbent Pence out, satisfy the trumpov defenders and the GOP rump, and win the 2020 nomination? Haley? Picture those GOP primary ads on both their parts. =)
While “trumpublicans in disarray!” Will unfortunately never be a thing, that’s what we would see. Mullah Pence is likely the default GOP nominee if and when trumpov goes down.
I’ve never mountain biked, or cyclo-crossed, or whatever it was they were doing — but I’m pretty sure I never had reflexes that good. Ever.
But thanks for that link. Maybe in my next life I’ll try that stuff. Although it would probably result in me getting into the next-life-after-that a lot sooner.
@HumboldtBlue: My mom occasionally notes that she made puff pastry from scratch just once, to prove to herself that she could. Point made, she never did it again.
@HumboldtBlue: Someone I know needed a hip replacement after doing something like that. She was 25 years old. Not for me, thank you very much.
ETA: This was meant to be a reply to Spanky’s video!
@Baud: trumpov and Stone and Giuliani gabbing and scheming on the basis of their own criminal impulses x the Fox Bubble of Information = acting on the opposite of actual ‘data’. We’ve seen this multiple times just in the past couple of days.
“I’m going to release the ‘transcript’ and it will vindicate MEEE!”. Um, no
“I’m going to hold up my cell phone on a national newscast and tell the world how I was acting as the de facto State Department, even though I’m just the president*s personal lawyer!” Bad call.
“We’re going to rally the GOP and bring about a landslide victory even though this is essentially the real-time version of what the Dems said we did with Russia in 2016!” Wait, what? And there are a gazillion receipts?
These people, I swear…
Actually, I have been surprised the world hasn’t had a big crisis blow up. Trump isn’t really a leader, and right now would be a bad time. I was afraid when he was elected, but not much has happened along the lines I feared. I have decided the world knows it’s not safe to upset things right now, and at least some of them are lying low.
If we have a world economic plunge or a Natural disaster Trump won’t know what to do and we will be in trouble. Thank goodness Bin Laden is dead.
I have not forgotten Puerto Rico. The day after inauguration we need to fix that mess. We owe our countrymen.
There are still reasons we should get rid of this idiot as soon as possible, even though we all want to take out as many of the other corrupt slime balls as possible.
In the case of succession by vacancy, the next in line becomes president immediately. The oath is a formality observed but the next in line is president the instant the office of president becomes vacant, oath or no.
If impeachment isn’t going to lead to Trump leaving office, I want the slow burn. If I thought we could get rid of him, I’d opt for quick action. But if I were playing the odds, I’d expect not to get a conviction or resignation, and so I’d go with the slow burn.
@Geoduck: Remember also that when Mikey Dense was a Representative, he was widely considered the Stupidest Member Of The House Of Representatives. And when you’re sharing a chamber with Louie “Gomer” Gohmert and Steve “Pig Muck” King, that’s not saying anything good.
Mother and SMOTHOR , what a combination…
I dunno about that. I see hints of both Mittens and Sasse doing a slow and stealthy shuffle away from Cheetolini. They both have that savior complex. And both are smarter and have more charisma than Mother’s Boy.
I’ve eaten at that Del Taco. BiL is Newbury Park native and I have kin in Simi. Father just sold his house in fact, purchased for $140,000 in 1985 and sold for $675,000 last month.
Forearm workout here we come!
I love lighthouses. The Coast Guard still has a Fresnel lens stored at the county fairgrounds.
We have our own stash of lighthouses as well.
William Barr channeling a Ralph Kramden humina, humina, humina moment remains fucking priceless.
@Jeffro: That’s my thinking too. They have no primary, for Pete’s sake. There is no heir apparent because Dump demonstrated how weak they all are, and he would never tolerate the idea of someone succeeding him, even in his death because he’s such sick narcissist.
Pounce is very weak himself, but there’s no one powerful enough to challenge him in so little time, even if Dump is gone tomorrow.
@HumboldtBlue: Very fine stash! Baccaro is on the Lighthouse Route which is exactly what it sounds like.
I grew up in Thousand Oaks.
That’s OK, here’s another one to enjoy.
I covered Marmonte League high school athletics and Moorpark College athletics as a stringer for the Star ’99-’02.
Watched a lot of outstanding athletes including the start of Marion Jones’ career.
@NotMax: Um, just FTR, I wouldn’t be too quick to presume that Trump gone & Pence gone automatically means President Pelosi. I found this on Wiki:
I think this is BS, we all think this is BS – but do any of us seriously think that the GOP would meekly assent to the Speaker becoming POTUS if they could possibly prevent it & keep the Executive power in their own corrupt hands? All they’d need is 5 members of SCOTUS to side with those “constitutional scholars” (whoever they are) & Mike Pompeo becomes President. Maketh me to fwo up…
@NotMax: 70th anniversary of the Peoples Republic of Jina on October 1. Us Gov shutdown on the same day?
Waves at Stock Market.
