If you’re up for a Dynasty-style beat-down in the ornamental pond, listen to the audio of this call.
Kellyanne Conway disparagingly told me it was improper to write about her husband and threatened to investigate my personal life in a conversation she thought was off the record. It wasn’t. https://t.co/0FTz9jj5Cf

Prediction: additional wigs will be snatched. Open thread!
Smedley Darlington Prunebanks (formerly Mumphrey, et al.)
Jesus Christ, they’re desperate. It’s fun to watch them turn on and shit all over each other. People working in the White House must feel like they’re walking into the 53rd level of hell every morning.
Jeffro
I thought the world’s Irony Meter broke when the trumpov boys were bemoaning how politicians’ kids abuse their connections to get rich…
…but Kellyanne Conway threatening to make an issue of someone ELSE’S personal life broke it, stomped on it, and threw it into the ocean. What a psycho!
Spanky
I’m thinking that it’s going to be an icy kind of quiet at the dinner table tonight at the Conways. Assuming, of course, that KA doesn’t have “work” to do with her prez.
Jeffro
Also, the Conways’ kids have GOT to be like, at this point, “Mom…Dad…really, it’s okay. You don’t have to stay together for us. Seriously.”
westyny
There are bedbugs in those wigs.
Chetan Murthy
@Jeffro:
I continue to believe this is all kayfabe. If we don’t descend into fascism, George can keep the family in green stuff; if we do, KA can keep hubby outta the concentration camp.
For them, it’s a win either way.
Spanky
OT, but something with ramifications for us Marylanders:
Fortunately the chamber is safely Democratic, but as he’s my state Senator and distant neighbor… well, I wish him well.
mrmoshpotato
@Jeffro: C’mon! She stomped it, then burned it, then threw the ashes in the ocean. :)

George has, for him, a cryptic tweet up about not understanding narcissism until recently, even though he’s seen it. He makes no mention of Trump, which he never fails to do. He’s talking about his wife, and it’s based on this story. I’d put money on that.
Yutsano
@Jeffro: “I WILL NOT BE IGNORED!!!”

“Powerful woman”? What exactly has she done with that power except defend a sexist man? She has done nothing with that power to make the lives of girls and women better.

Ever since inauguration I’ve felt pity and dread for the WH staff. Imagine going from the Obamas to…whatever this is?
Ella in New Mexico
This Tweet came out minutes after the news hit
That was quite the cryptic SOS signal.
Yutsano
@Patricia Kayden: She’s berated other women with her powerful position. She’s made other women intimidated by throwing around her (relative) weight as a White House advisor. Her whole goal is kowtow any criticism behind “feminist” language. She knows full well she’s a crock of shit for it. But she gets the dosh and the spotlight so why should she care?
mrmoshpotato
@trollhattan: We don’t have to imagine. No one has to imagine.
dmsilev
@delk: To be fair, “husband from hell” is something that Donald Trump truly is an expert at.
sdhays
@Patricia Kayden: Yeah, it’s laughable. She really hasn’t done anything. She doesn’t set policy. She defends policy (and other) decisions. Poorly. She has no authority over anything and there’s no indication she even has any more influence over Dump than the cast of Fox and Fiends.
laura
@delk: Well, if there’s anyone who knows a stone cold LOSER and husband from hell, its gots to be the ham head in chief.
That said, I hope the cat fight is as epic as any street fight outside the club after closing time.
Hoping for video and pics of Kellyanne getting dog walked.
Yutsano
@Patricia Kayden: @sdhays: Before she got her current gig, wasn’t she just a pollster?
laura
@delk: Delk, I can’t see your nym without thinking of your boon companion Gav, and I hope your heart is healing.
@Patricia Kayden: Patricia Kayden, I’ve spotted the flaw in your logic – presuming she has any interest in improving the lives of girls and women. Misogyny, it’s not exclusively a man’s game. You are a decent and thoughtful woman. Kellyanne is not.
chopper
what’s wacky here is that the examiner is a pretty trump-friendly rag. these people really are losing it.
sdhays
@Yutsano: I never really knew what rock she crawled out from under to join the Dump 2016 campaign, but even though her title was “Campaign Manager”, it was clear that no one really answered to her. That was the Chairman’s job. Her job has always been to be a woman who will go on the TV and say nasty things in support of Liddle’ Hands. That’s the extent of her job and her “influence”. I doubt she even has shitty thoughts about policy. She just wants to be on TV and be close to power. And make money.
ETA: She should be Dump’s official spokesperson, but that would require having an actual job with real responsibilities. She’s way too lazy to do something like that. That’s why it was so funny to hear Dump float her as a potential Chief of Staff. Like Kellyanne would take a job where she would actually have to do stuff beyond lie with straight face.
Mary G
@Yutsano: She was allegedly the first woman to own a polling firm, and she sold herself to the Republicans as someone who could help them improve their problems with women hating them, and made a shitload of money.
She must be really awful for a right wing rag to go off on her. They’ll probably get more clicks this week than they had for the last nine months.
“My husband gets his power from mmeeee” is a hell of a statement. I can’t even imagine how enraged she is by this.
I’m thinking copies of “The Art of the Deal” breaking White House windows as they are hurled across her office.
David ??Merry Christmas?? Koch
@sdhays: she ran a superpac for Mercer. When Mercer stepped in to finance Dump’s campaign, part of the deal included having Conway running the propaganda/disinformation desk.
Yutsano
@David Merry Christmas Koch: Huh. I wonder if part of her job was to launder the main business assets so the Mercers could keep avoiding paying their business taxes.
Jeffro
@delk: I remember that one! Ah the good old days, back when trying to humiliate a staffer’s husband might have caused a stir…nay…a KERFLUFFLE!
Now from the Repubs, no matter what he says or tweets, it’s like *yawn* ‘we know he’s not fit to be town dog catcher but whatcha gonna do? We’re ALL IN on this guy like you warned us, liiiiike youuuuu warnnnnned uuusss…’ ?
sdhays
@David ??Merry Christmas?? Koch: Ah, so pretty much the same – she got paid oodles of money to lie for a few hours on the TV and then go to the spa/kill puppies/ruin her daughter’s life.
delk
@laura: Aww, thanks for remembering Gav. I got a brand new vacuum a couple weeks ago and when I emptied it for the first time I was surprised at the amount of his hair that was still around. I guess I really needed a new vacuum! ?
Yutsano
@Jeffro: Well the rich aren’t going to get a negative tax rate without some dolt at the top to hide all the fluff while we loot the Treasury right? What better way to pass sneaky regulation changes and arbitrary rules changes to benefit the 0.1% with a clown at the top breaking all the things? The rich (think) their money always has a place to go.
Betty Cracker
@Mary G: The thing that gets me is that it was such an innocuous statement that sent Conway into a ear-splitting snit! From a friendly pub! And then she goes full Wintour on poor Caitlyn!

If only Billy Wilder was still around to adapt “Sunset Boulevard” to Conway’s story arc
robmassing
The monumental insecurity on display here by Kellyanne Conway reminds me of someone.
A reporter wrote that Conway was “caught in the middle” between Trump and her husband, and Conway felt the need to call and insult and harangue her and then threaten her? How does she have time to do anything else if she devotes this much energy to something so trivial?
Duane
@Spanky: That dinner date is unlkely, but if you listen closely you may hear the sound of smashing glass at the Conway’s. Body-cam video from the police call would be nice.

Didn’t Kennedy rule against the first gay marriage in the U.S., when he was on the federal bench, in the 1970’s? He basically buried any chance gay marriage could happen for decades.
