Contrast:

@senatemajldr #MoscowMitch had to have a security detail to eat in a Louisville restaurant tonight. Of course, he could just meet with his constituents, rather than hide. Or he could do the work he swore he would do. Instead, the traitor spends tax money on security to hide.

Republican congressmen are pathetic, abject cowards.Ā  Remember the Obamacare repeal period?Ā  When they would go to great lengths to only hold town halls with Republican voters, and when they failed would duck out in the middle rather than face angry constituents?Ā  And these were angry liberal constituents, not the kind who would threaten them physically.Ā  It’s going to be one Hell of a campaign season.

I was college friends with Lisa Dickey, who posted that first tweet – what a nice surprise to see it here! Ā And to see the way Amb. Yovanovitch is being treated by regular citizens as she moves on from the hearings! Isn’t Pete Sessions not running for re-election. I wonder if he wants to get himself out of the impeachment (and related prosecutions) spotlight.

In addition, Parnas and Fruman directed huge contributions to then-Rep. Pete Sessions’s campaigns. On the same day that Parnas visited him in his Capitol Hill office, Sessions wrote to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo complaining that Yovanovitch was not loyal to Trump and should be fired

Whoa. Ā Someone else is shrill at the FTF NY Times today. Ā Marie Yovanovitch’s example has put some steel in some writers’ spines.

Tom Friedman does not mince words.

Mike Pompeo: Last in His Class at West Point in Integrity

The secretary of state’s behavior has been cowardly and self-serving.

It seems like every story you read about Secretary of State Mike Pompeo always includes the sentence that he graduated ā€œfirst in his classā€ from West Point. That is not a small achievement. But it is even more impressive in Pompeo’s case when you consider that he finished No. 1 even though he must have flunked all his courses on ethics and leadership. I guess he was really good in math.

I say that because Pompeo has just violated one of the cardinal rules of American military ethics and command: You look out for your soldiers, you don’t leave your wounded on the battlefield and you certainly don’t stand mute when you know a junior officer is being railroaded by a more senior commander, if not outright shot in her back.

The classes on ethics and leadership at West Point would have taught all of that. I can only assume Pompeo failed or skipped them all when you observe his cowardly, slimy behavior as the leader of the State Department. I would never, ever, ever want to be in a trench with that man. Attention all U.S. diplomats: Watch your own backs, because Pompeo won’t.
