A little late-night nostalgia bait for those of us who used to hang around TBogg’s site, back before Cole got smarter. Alternate title: ‘Another GHWB-vintage rightwing icon tries to update their Q score, overshoots, embarrasses former supporters’…

Sorry Ms Malkin (Coulter, Ingraham, Palin), you’ve aged out of attracting the coveted 18-34 demographic, now. So you’re condemned to the Fox News networks where your *old* fans like Rick Lowry and Hugh Hewitt still remember the pre-social-media ‘starbursts’ you inspired…
She was always like this. She just decided to stop giving you cover to pretend otherwise. https://t.co/x9MJJqCpvF

Has Malkin noticed she’s not white?

Talking Head Wounds: What happened to the Republican party?
*shows them 8 years of screaming about a ‘tan suit-wearing, spicy mustard-loving, well-spoken, highly-qualified non-white elitist*
THS: The problem is conservatism isn’t conservative enough! It can only be failed!
mrmoshpotato
@Just Chuck: They’ll never come after me.
The leopards won’t eat my face (yells the woman who repeatedly votes for the Leopards Eating People’s Faces Party.)
Chetan Murthy
@Just Chuck: I wouldn’t know, b/c I don’t read those blogs (at least one commenter at LG&M does read ’em, and reports to us from time-to-time on what they’re sayin’ over there) but I hear that there’s a term among white nationalist men, for women like Michelle Malkin, and it ain’t nice. No idea what it could be, and no intention of finding out.
But yeah, you’d think she’d realize she ain’t white.
Mandalay
@Just Chuck:
Oh, Malkin knows that very, very well, and she milks it for all it’s worth:
– Her twitter profile craftily states “Little brown woman.”
– We non-white white nationalists gotta stick together
– You said you weren’t a partisan organization, do I look like a ‘white nationalist?’
Being a brown racist is what makes her rich. And the Washington Examiner (of all places!) just nailed her grifting schtick precisely:
Chetan Murthy
@Mandalay: IIUC she’s of Filipino descent; I wonder if she’s also racist towards other Filipinos?
ruemara
@Just Chuck: As much beloved Rod Morrow of The Black Guy Who Tips podcast has pointed out, many non-black POC come from places where they got to be the White People of their particular country.
And they traveled here, adopted white supremacy but will be heartily surprised when it bites them.
@Chetan Murthy: I can attest that intra-community racism exists in the Pinoy community as well.
gwangung
@ruemara: Starts with Ilocano vs. Visayan, and it mushrooms from there.
And Malkin’s views aren’t particularly uncommon among Filipino Americans…
West of the Rockies
Well, Diamond and Silk and Tila Tequila are other POC who align themselves with idiocy. Twitchy Malkin ain’t alone. Throw in female misogynists Ann Coulter, KAC, and SHS to represent the white white-supremacist perspective. It shows that men aren’t alone in being vile and hateful and stupid.

@Just Chuck: Grifting > race, gender, and everything else.

Part of me is glad to see right wingers fighting amongst themselves. Nick Fuentes’ bunch drive Charlie Kirk, Uday Trump, and Kim Guilfoyle off the stage at UCLA. The other part woods that Republicans will go full Fuentes and embrace open Nazism.
ruemara
@gwangung: Yeah, my former potential sister in law was definitely an eye-opener for me regarding how prevalent racism was against black people and the disdain for certain subcultures in the Philippines. Weird.

Has Stephen Miller know that he’s Jewish?

@smike: Does, doh!

I will see myself out.

Or German, for that matter.
MFer was Austrian.

@senyordave: Is that the article by his uncle that also mentions family members fled pograms in Belarus?

The Philippines, being a collection of a lot of islands, also has a lot of dialects. Tagalog, the national language, is essentially the dialect spoken in the Manila area. Filipinos from areas outside Manila, tend to speak Tagalog and at least one other dialect, and those who speak a Filipino dialect other than Tagalog are looked down upon by those who only speak Tagalog. Furthermore, as in some other Asian countries, the Philippines has a significant ethnic Chinese merchant class that is well-to-do and looks down on all other Filipinos. Somehow, I’m guessing Malkin’s Philippine roots can’t be traced back to Mindanao or Bohol.
different-church-lady
@Cacti: Do those really need to be two different things?
JaySinWA
@different-church-lady: Wasn’t that what Adolf asked?
smike
@senyordave: You are correct. That was worth a read.
Patricia Kayden
@Just Chuck: That could be asked if Candace Owens, Ben Carson, Diamond and Silk, etc. Malkin is as much of a White Supremacist as David Duke.
Cacti
@different-church-lady: In the modern era, very much so.

I SUMMON THE BLOG WIZARDS:
Is there some way to have the screen go to where the “fold” is when you click on “read post and comments” instead of going back up to the top of piece?
By the time I reach the fold, I’ve read all of the preceding stuff and I am irrationally upset about having to scroll back down through two or three screens to get where I was when I clicked the button.
I BESEECH YOU!!!
Chetan Murthy
@Kamala.Harris.2020: Instead of clicking on “post + comments”, maybe click on the “36 comments” right next to the title, in the front-page view? That seems to work for me.
Though, it only works accurately for front posts that don’t have a ton of tweets (maybe images, too). For posts that have a ton of tweets, it drops you someplace in the middle of the post. I presume because the browser’s algorithm for calculating how far to scroll, is messed-up by the tweets. This problem happens when I “refresh” a post too (to see new comments).

@Cacti:
Mind you, he didn’t consider that a difference. In fact, he unified Austria and Germany in 1938.

Yet another rationale for moving that line of metadata to the bottom of the post (as on the old site), so one wouldn’t have to scroll back up to the top of the particular post in order to click on it there.
There was a whole foofaraw* about the metadata during the Tommy time when he moved it to the top area of a post and the overwhelming consensus among commenters then was that due to the way B-J was mostly used the metadata worked better at the bottom.
*For those who weren’t here, that is what prompted us being derided for “internetting wrong” but the sentiment for having the metadata at the bottom was so rampant that he eventually gave in.

Yes, I have a friend who is fillipino descent who is totally conservative but also thinks she is rational about her choices. But we have a good conversation most of the time. :) I just make sure she gets plenty of wine :D

Yeah, we’re not a sales blog, we use ‘categories’ as footnotes, not as a ‘go here to buy… ‘ shortcut.
But as far as I’m concerned, the whole transition has been SUCH a massive project, I figured we could bring up swapping the categories down once more generally irksome issues had been resolved.
(Right after WaterGirl & I battle through another category / snark sort-out, but before I tackle updating the Lexicon.)

@NotMax: IIRC William L. Shirer once wrote that the biggest stroke of luck Der Führer ever had was 12 years before his birth, when his father changed his last name to Hitler – because no one could imagine thousands of people in a mass meeting chanting Heil Schicklgruber!
