WATCH: Democratic witness Daniel Goldman perfectly explain the entire Trump-Ukraine scandal in 1 minute.
He then warns that Trump is as we speak still trying to get Ukraine to influence the 2020 election.
This clip needs to be on every nightly news show tonight. pic.twitter.com/62SJzLSoNI

The whole thing — even for someone like me who gets paid to watch this stuff — was, well, unwatchable.
A bunch of adults yelling at one another over matters that almost no one watching understood or cares about. https://t.co/i2Fn83a8cx

There’s a lot of dumb, “That’s how we got Trump” takes, but cable news viewing him as an exciting, TV hot break from normal, boring politics actually fits the assertion.

If only there were some sort of institution that exists to explain current events and politics to help people understand and care about what's happening. https://t.co/uhgNSxY3Yy

The important thing is Democrats unveil their articles of impeachment in a manner that engages Chris Cillizza. Maybe with some close up magic.

Someone asked me this afternoon what the point of the GOP’s strategy was today, and I said it was to generate this kind of coverage rather than coverage that provides information about the underlying conduct at issue. https://t.co/kHiXelkq8J

2/ The defense, such as it is, is to oscillate between "you don't have a smoking gun!" and "it was awesome to shoot him!" … Basically a separate article of impeachment for gaslighting the whole fucking country should be added to the list.

There were people who predicted that dumbing down the news from the 24/7 demands would cause more idiocy to spread among the population.
But they were libs, so no one listened.
Jay Noble
I think maybe now I’ll be able to not confuse Jeffrey Toobin with Jonathon Turley!

@WereBear:
I don’t think that’s the case here. It’s not the 24/7 aspect that’s dumbing it down, it’s instead a very deliberate strategy by the owners.
For those of us old enough to remember how Ted Turner ran CNN, it’s pretty easy to imagine Ted slapping Cilizza right in the face on live TV, then turning to the camera and apologizing to America for ever having hired the ass in the first place.
Media conglomeration by (of course) the upper 0.0001% is what drives a lot of this.
Chief Oshkosh
@Jay Noble: Ha! You, too, eh?
WereBear
@Chief Oshkosh: AND the Fox News propaganda, which is likely the virus generator, or King Vampire. Talking heads are the “move along, nothing to see here” kinds.
joel hanes
cillizza is pernicous, like a thistle in the yard
WereBear
@joel hanes: Chuck Toad at least had a moment of clarity on the air, though I doubt he’ll do that again.

Maybe Anne will put this on the front page.

I was spending a few minutes, trying to think up something appropriately snarky, or (half-)witty, regarding Cillizza, the FTFTFNYT, and so forth, and just quit, because this bullshit is starting to drain me.

Cillizza admits he just can’t be bothered to do his job. His boss should help him find a new one.

What’s hard to understand?
Donald J. Trump, President of the United States, has been credibly accused of using his office for personal, partisan purposes. The GOP doesn’t like it, because it might hurt their re-election chances, and are presenting defenses that are an insult to the intelligence and integrity of their constituents.
Oh, wait, this is Cillizza. I forgot he was the idiot who said “I’ve helped magnify accusations about Hillary Clinton’s e-mails, and openly worried that the issue would destroy her campaign, and couldn’t be arsed to point out that the entire issue was bogus, and based on false accusations of criminality coming from the GOP, including their candidate for President, who seemed eager to abuse his law enforcement powers. And the question is, WHY couldn’t the Clinton campaign put the issue to bed conclusively? Why did they fail at this trivially easy task, where all she had to do was convince the entire right wing media to stop attacking her based on false premises.”
