Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

When your entire life is steeped in white supremacy, equality feels like discrimination.

Let’s not be the monsters we hate.

Everybody saw this coming.

Let there be snark.

I like you, you’re my kind of trouble.

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

The next time the wall street journal editorial board speaks the truth will be the first.

It may be funny to you motherfucker, but it’s not funny to me.

“Everybody’s entitled to be an idiot.”

It’s easy to sit in safety and prescribe what other people should be doing.

Happy indictment week to all who celebrate!

Good lord, these people are nuts.

I’d hate to be the candidate who lost to this guy.

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

Yeah, with this crowd one never knows.

This really is a full service blog.

rich, arrogant assholes who equate luck with genius

Consistently wrong since 2002

Motto for the House: Flip 5 and lose none.

Imperialist aggressors must be defeated, or the whole world loses.

Technically true, but collectively nonsense

Prediction: the GOP will rethink its strategy of boycotting future committees.

Republicans in disarray!

Balloon Juice has never been a refuge for the linguistically delicate.

Late Night Musical Interlude: Nancy Smash

His enablers in Washington may have chosen to betray their oath of impartial justice and cover up his abuses of power, but the fact remains: The President is impeached forever. Period.

His final verdict is coming in November – from #CA12 and all across America. pic.twitter.com/UxJ2CNU7hP

— Nancy Pelosi (@TeamPelosi) February 15, 2020

*relentlessly mocks Pelosi for not impeaching Trump, and when she does, relentlessly mocks her for Chuck Schumer’s failure to flip Senator”

why doesn’t she want to impeach the attorney general, which I just googled is possible https://t.co/7xVpFAGimk

— Proud Bloomberg Disliker (@MenshevikM) February 13, 2020

In 2018, the House, led by “centrist” Nancy Pelosi, picked up the most seats in a generation, winning 41 GOP-held seats for a net gain of 39 seats. Many of those GOP seats were won by … wait for it … centrists in swing districts in red states. ????? https://t.co/v3iTb3YWz5

    I don’t hear any music.

On the one hand, I can see how going after every lie from Cabinet
official of this administration would be an endless task. However, should lying Cabinet officials somehow be punished for lying?

Repeating from below, as this is a more generalized thread. Short notice TCM note.

Tuesday at 6 a.m. Eastern, The Green Goddess. Dated as hell along with being painfully paced, with a plot that was creaky when Methuselah was in diapers. The reason to watch is George Arliss plying his trade in his inaugural movie. The theatricality he projects as The Raja offsets the stilted and wooden delivery of his fellow actors and he steals every bit of every scene he’s in through sheer force of will and ebullience of style. Plus later on in the film he gets to strut about wearing one the coolest looking set of robes ever. Also it’s a prime example of the floundering which beset Hollywood in transitioning from silents and incorporating sound.

Pelosi shouldn’t go after all of them true. But she absolutely go after Barr. The man is a danger to the republic and a traitor to the Constitution. I’m laying money that he won’t testify to the House on March 31st under any circumstance.

Oh FTF NY Times.  You be you.  Yet another article about how Trump admin people cannot get dates, this one occasioned by some lucky rightwinging girl marrying Stephen Miller.

Mags Haberman did not write this one; Katie Rogers  (“a White House correspondent in the Washington bureau, covering the cultural impact of the Trump administration on the nation’s capital and beyond”) did.  Leftovers, leftovers.

Young, Conservative and Working for Trump? The Dating Pool Is Small
Washington’s highly politicized culture can be brutal on dating life. For Trump aides, one solution is to find love with each other.

Biggest news in this article is that bride and groom Miller are the victims of all this polarization.

“The wedding details, shared in increments by the bride to reporters over the past few months, illustrate what it meant for one notorious Trump aide to get married in a heavily Democratic town [thugs!] where the mere sight of him is known to create angry confrontations.
They hired security. Wedding invitations contained a card detailing the couple’s privacy requests. The registry was created under a fake name. Invited friends who might bring unruly partisans as their guests to the wedding were screened.

In the end, the nuptials were stocked with Trump administration officials, including Mr. Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and the people who love the couple.” [None of whom is named.]

And, even better, that Trumpsters are getting screened out on dating apps.

Just heard about this on my local TV news:

Kansas City radio station agrees to broadcast Russian-owned ‘propaganda’ program

The lease agreement lets RM Broadcasting air its programming from 6 to 9 a.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. seven days a week. KCXL’s website, which says that it’s the radio station that will “tell you the things that the liberal media wont (sic) tell you,” lists Radio Sputnik in its morning programming. […]

RM Broadcasting is run in Florida by a man named Arnold Ferolito. He disputed the government’s assessment of Radio Sputnik.

“Ninety percent of the programming is generated right here in the United States,” Ferolito told The Star in an interview.

Yeah, only 10% is RT propaganda, stupid libs!

Sounds like she was delivering a service animal that she’d trained, not an emotional support one.  I watched a show on TV last year about a blind Muslim woman who had a trained and certified seeing eye miniature horse (because dogs are considered “unclean” in her culture, she couldn’t get a service dog). First time I discovered that miniature horses are intelligent enough to be service animals.
