Just had a realization — if the coronavirus spread continues unabated (and now that it’s firmly entrenched in countries with poor medical systems, it probably will), that means that candidates campaigning are likely by early summer or so to be exposed to it. It has thus far had a much bigger effect on the elderly…

Lovely crowd at the Warren event tonight! She didn’t even seem tired, which is weird because the rest of us are. I saw many young families, lots of girls holding their grandmas’ hands. The sound system at the Armory is not great, so the people at the way back had trouble hearing her actual words, but no one seemed to care.
It felt good to leave that building and wander down 5th Avenue toward home — she gives me hope for the long run.
I play WowClassic with MissusForkbeard sometimes. I think we’re planning on starting Wow again when then new expac lands, but we haven’t played normal WoW since 2014 or so.
@MisterForkbeard: I do rather miss the idea of Wow – as in playing it with Leto and Jen (not a jackal). I keep debating whether I will play Shadowlands. I mean probably I’ll play it for a bit when it’s new because I’m a sucker but when it gets to the grindy McGrindy part where its like a really crappy job that *I* pay to go to… I’ll probably remember I have more interesting hobbies. :D

The NV caucus is a f*cking fraud as are all damned caucuses.
There are maybe aprox 15,000 caucus votes in a state with over 3 million people. With these numbers it is easy to see how the Bernie bots can take a caucus state. It is a freaking farce. Also, it is easy for the Russian bots to use so is media to influence small numbers here and there.
For a whole month Bernie knew he was being helped by Putin agents and he said nothing. A whole lot of social media involvement can happen in a month.
We need to support the reporters who are being honest about caucus attendance and states with primaries. Also this is only the third state to vote out of 50 states. The Bernie bots are out in force trying to get truthful reporters fired – like Joy Reid and others in the print media. The Bernie bots could be Russian agents. Something is up I’m seeing some very suspicious tweets and comments following election overage. After all the election interfere this century I recognize the patterns of internet bullies anchor members.
You and I are on the same page but I was told I had to “respect democracy” by respecting the people who fall for Russian active measures and vote for Sanders over the far better other candidates.
48.
Chris Johnson
Again: I think someone jumped the gun, outed his Russian support before it was supposed to be revealed. Don’t know what will happen.
Bernie likes the result of that Russian support: not proven that he’s actively working with them. They are no longer the socialists of his youth. They’re oligarchs and capitalists now. Ought to be dead to him. There is NOT the ideological agreement that there is between the Russians and Trump, or indeed the Russians and Bloomberg (exactly EXACTLY the same philosophy there, that guy is Putin but for the USA)
There’s shitloads of grassroots real support for Dems currently voting for Bernie, out there, but they are being cultivated to believe that only Bernie is a legitimate vote and that anyone else will sell them the fuck out. This is the trap being sprung.
There’s a catch: those people are Dems. They expect actual Dem policies. We’re already leaning in that direction and the problem with Bernie is that he’s not the planner, he just yells slogans. But the President is not King and doesn’t make the plans anyway. It seems like if the trap goes off, and we get Bernie, it could backfire because the support for Bernie and Warren is real and not fake. Bernie’s kinda (or very) fake. His platform is not fake. Warren can put it into action. If Warren can’t be President, she ends up still in the Senate… where Dems take action on actual policy. Arguably a stronger position for doing what she wants, provided we don’t get like Bloomberg or something, which would veto every Dem proposal as if it was Trump there, which would put up or veto Supreme Court choices as if it was Trump there.
I’m watching what Warren does here, very carefully, because she’s smart and she is in the loop in a way that we are not. If Warren endorses Bernie and whoever he picks (no matter how alarming) as Veep, it will mean she has a plan, and I will be all in behind that plan. She hasn’t done this yet and may not. I don’t think she’ll do that unless she’s gamed out how to control a fake Dem President.
That’s an important difference. The Russians straight up control the Republicans, through pressure and money and threats. They’re controlling Trump, but the horrible shit he does plays with their base.
On the Dem side, what would register with Trumpsters as horrible shit (or indeed what Bloomberg would consider horrible shit) is WHAT WE WANT. Putin may think that something like wealth tax and supporting the poor is horrible and hurts our country. I beg to fucking differ. This is the catch: assuming Putin is omnipotent and has this all gamed out, means endorsing his worldview and believing THAT is trustworthy. And it’s super not. All over the world people are facing austerity and financialization and the deification of people like Putin, Bloomberg, Trump etc and losing their minds, about ready to put up guillotines.
I’m sure Putin thinks the lefties are idiots, and this is his fatal flaw: he is feeding a movement that doesn’t need his fake help, in the belief that it is not self-sufficient. Back in the day, we called those people he’s propping up ‘Democrats’.
And if he has a puppet wearing Democratic colors in the white house, that puppet (no better disciplined than his previous one) MUST put up a good front and act as the Dem leader, or completely lose his true base. And Putin will be trying to orchestrate that too, but without Bernie’s cooperation: the best he can get is Bernie impotently trying to drop sanctions, and that would be a tactical error.
I want to know what Warren’s plan, what Pelosi’s plan, will be. All this is revealing the divide in the Democratic party that Putin is exploiting, but here in the Democratic party we call that ‘just another tuesday’. We’re USED to having massive divides and circular firing squads in a way the Republicans just aren’t. All this reveals is that some asshole in Moscow was able to agitate a big ol’ chunk of OUR CONSTITUENCY and feed them various bullshit, but in the process documenting them and establishing without doubt that they are there.
If Moscow gets a puppet President elected on the strength of that, we then have a mandate to represent that constituency, NOT the puppet, NOT Moscow itself. We owe nothing to that asshole in Moscow. He is only bringing to light what some of us have been screaming for years.

The numbers for “early” caucus voting are all over the place but still far less than voters in a real primary. Early voting may not have been counted in the live caucus totals. I found an estimated number for “early” voting of 75,000. 50% of the live vote on Saturday came in at about 7,000. 15,000 is the estimated number from Saturday’s voting. So. It is unclear what happened to the early voting? It seems the only votes being reported are from voters who showed up at caucuses.
my negative opinion of caucuses comes from WA state dem caucuses over many years. Most of the time people didn’t bother to show up. One year there were six of us meeting in tribal headquarters. Candidates learned to manipulate caucus attendance around 2008 – and the paid influencers seemed to move from state to state. Texas and Nevada had problems with ringers attending caucuses. I knew all the active political junkies and when new kids showed up using group dynamic tricks of the psychological trade – it was clear the caucus game had changed.
Why the Democratic party allows caucuses is a mystery. Iowa was a mess and I think Nevada is another mess. I am seeing very low numbers for the population of the state (Wikipedia 2019) and state newspapers of the partial live vote count. I’m not seeing the state newspaper giving combined totals of early voting and the Sat vote.
