Not ‘representative’, but stuff I’ve enjoyed on YouTube & thought y’all might, too…
Maluma (Columbia) –
Annie & Lola Lennox –
Burna Boy (Nigeria) –
Lady Antebellum – ‘What I’m Leaving For’ –
Super M (K-Pop) –
Taylor Swift (shut up, this is perfect for the situation) –
Yutsano
Taylor is never going to be known for her singing abilities. But oh man can she pen a missive.
raven
Burna Boy gots some big hands.
Logan Brown
Lola Lennox — Holy Cats! She’s impressive.
FelonyGovt
I really enjoyed Maluma’s performance. Had never heard of him before.
phdesmond
i can’t believe i missed a whole 8-hour concert. i guess i thought it was the same as the similarly-named two-hour concert saturday evening on msnbc.
Another Scott
@Yutsano: She’s a great talent. I’ve always enjoyed her on SNL, also too.
Cheers,
Scott.

FYI!
April 19-25 Medical Laboratory Professionals Week!
Happy Lab Week to my fellow Laboratorians!!
WaterGirl
@lamh36: Is that when they give you all raises to make you happy? :-)
Whatever happened with the job you applied for, where you knew one of the other applicants? Is everything on hold?
WereBear
@lamh36: Happy Lab Week to you!
lamh36
@WaterGirl: I believe everything is on hold. i reached out after a month just to say I was still interested, but never heard back…
So I’m taking it as an L for right now and moving on.
As for a raise, I’ve been lucky in that each employer I’ve had since becoming an MT has given yearly raises.
What we usually do for Lab Week is a week of food, games and vendor presentations done for our appreciation
Elizabelle
I was fascinated by Maluma’s owl tattoo.
Was a really good show. Liked learning about all the new to me talent, and seeing some old faves.
And Kardashian free. That was really nice.

My dear wife has a habit of leaving browser windows and tabs open all over the place. So I was closing them out, and in one she had FB open, with a post there that looked like an ad for something, with the scary-sounding text “Did you know your cell phone emits radiation?”
Um, how can I phrase this, folks? The phone doesn’t have a wire attached to it, so…. How is it supposed to communicate? Any idea what “RF” means?
I closed it and moved on. No sense getting angry at stupid.
WereBear
Respite? I’m proud of this Bud Abbott kitten video.
Another Scott
@Gin & Tonic: Of course, everything above absolute zero emits radiation. Also too.
And that’s before one starts talking about zero-point energy and zero-point radiation…
You can’t get away from it!!11ONE
Cheers,
Scott.
Another Scott
@WereBear: :-)
Cheers,

@Another Scott: And to think I have two of these charmers. Good thing too… I hear shelters are emptying out!

I’ve posted before about liking the Korean dance videos. Taemin, the only member of Super M I’d heard of before, has great ones, with a strong Michael Jackson vibe (the amazing body control, not the horribleness). I imagine Justin Timberlake watching him and seething with Edgar Allen Poe levels of envy. (Justice for Janet!)

I just read yesterday that Taylor Swift has cancelled all of 2020. Speculation that it is because of her mother’s health (who she wrote this song for) as much as anything else. I really like a lot of her stuff and have loved sharing my niece and her friends mega-fanning. Really wishing her the best. It has to be terrible to be going through any sort of non-avoidable medical treatment now, with awful choices to be made.
JMG
I did not expect to like this event nearly as much as I did. The performers are to be congratulated, even the ones whose music does not appeal to my tastes.

Dr. Fauci (by David Leon) (2:14)
:-)
Cheers,
Scott.

@lamh36: damn straight!
we’re finally backing off of daily briefings when it comes to COVID-19 safety updates here in our specific neck of the woods, so speculation begins on a date to allow elective surgeries once more.
prostratedragon
@Another Scott: Bet Dr. Fauci didn’t know he was a fun-sized bar.

Sperm seems pretty popular. wait, what? there’s a ‘U’ in there? oh okay, nevermind.
Xantar
Somebody really fucked up the kerning on Super M’s name. From the image I thought for a moment that they were called Sperm.
Amir Khalid
I commented on this YouTube video to tell Peter Hitchens he was full of shit. ETA: It felt good.
WaterGirl
@lamh36: Late getting back to the thread, happy to see the update. Raises are good! And a week of appreciation has to be fun, anyway. I can’t imagine either hiring or trying to look for a job right now. So complicated!
danielx
There’s nothing like showing up and reading first off the last comment.
WaterGirl
@Gin & Tonic: I don’t know… closing someone else;’s browser tabs and windows is kinda like going through their stuff and giving away some of their stuff without permission.
Sometimes the mess of my tabs and windows is because I’m super busy, but a lot of times i leave them open to remind me to do something or buy something when I have more time.
But I suppose you’ve been married long enough to know where the minefields are, so perhaps you are not taking your life in your hands after all.

Did anyone notice the big news today? Jackals spotted in downtown Tel Aviv!!

CNN reporting Kim Jung Un is near death and Trump just suspended all immigration into the U.S.
Jeffro
For what it’s worth, there is a Prince tribute concert tomorrow (Tues) night at 8pm Eastern on CBS
That is, if we somehow don’t get nuked on Kim’s way out… 0_0

@Renie:
Oh noes! Who is to be king of the Democratic People’s Republic now?
Gin & Tonic
@WaterGirl:
Indeed I have.
Gin & Tonic
@Renie: This immigration issue is going to cause our family much grief, I suspect. My son and his wife are out of the country for some time to come, still. But they started the green card application process right after they got married last August, with the hope that it would be resolved by the time they’d need to return to the US. It had already seemed like all visa-related processing had hit the brakes, now I expect it will be even slower. If she can’t come back with him, that will really be a problem.
Amir Khalid
@West of the Cascades:
These jackals need to comment here and tell the rest of us about the eerie ghost-town atmosphere in their city.
Lyrebird
@Feathers: Those are fun.
Then again, I also liked the Jack Black dancing video I recently found on Hoarse Wisperer’s twitter feed.
Thanking heaven and the OP for a respite thread.
Susan Einbinder
Did anybody else know that the Board of Directors of the sponsoring organization, Global Citizen, includes ‘captains of industry’ from finance, including a Managing Partner of Leonard Green and Partners (equity management) and another from Bridgewater, as well as the editor of Forbes? I’m glad that they are philanthropic, but … well, they are responsible for creating massive economic inequality, so starting a nonprofit to ameliorate it seems problematic…. doesn’t it?
Amir Khalid
@Susan Einbinder:
This is probably not a time to be worrying about the purity of people who are getting a good thing done.
Elizabelle
@West of the Cascades: I did see that. Loved it!
