    She may not like you, Cole. But I know she loves you for taking care of her. When her previous owners abandoned her, you were there. She knew at that point that you were the one for her when she leaped into your seat.

    @?BillinGlendaleCA: Once a beaver showed up at this swimming pond on an island where I used to work, and began taking down the birch trees.  No one had any idea how s/he got there (unless brought by someone?)  ave the remaining trees s/he was trapped, put in a boat and dropped off on another island …

    That’s an eclecric mix of pet personalities: the prim and ladylike Lily, the exuberant Thurston, the inperious Steve, and Rose who keeps to herself. I do think John Cole has the makings of a sitcom.

    @?BillinGlendaleCA:  A few miles up the trail from Twin Lakes (near Bridgeport, past Mono Lake) is Barney Lake – I camped there one night, 30ish years ago at the beginning of a backpack trip. There was a beaver there plying its trade near the outlet of the lake. So that’s the closest I can come to confirmation of beavers in Owens Valley…

    @Aleta: I saw a beaver in a neighbor’s yard a few blocks over (on the creek) a few years ago.  I was astounded by how big it was.  Must have been around 60-70 pounds or so.  Big honking thing.  Just munching away on something at twilight.  Seeing them on TV it’s hard to get perspective on how big things are in real life.

    And how much bigger they were in olden times.

    Kinda like that looming willow tree…
