Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Perhaps you mistook them for somebody who gives a damn.

Since we are repeating ourselves, let me just say fuck that.

There are some who say that there are too many strawmen arguments on this blog.

Washington Post Catch and Kill, not noticeably better than the Enquirer’s.

Books are my comfort food!

They think we are photo bombing their nice little lives.

No Kings: Americans standing in the way of bad history saying “Oh, Fuck No!”

“I was told there would be no fact checking.”

I would try pessimism, but it probably wouldn’t work.

An almost top 10,000 blog!

Fundamental belief of white supremacy: white people are presumed innocent, minorities are presumed guilty.

Only Democrats have agency, apparently.

Democracy is not a spectator sport.

Seems like a complicated subject, have you tried yelling at it?

Good lord, these people are nuts.

The rest of the comments were smacking Boebert like she was a piñata.

Let’s delete this post and never speak of this again.

I desperately hope that, yet again, i am wrong.

Find someone who loves you the way trump and maga love traitors.

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

The Giant Orange Man Baby is having a bad day.

My years-long effort to drive family and friends away has really paid off this year.

I’m starting to think Jesus may have made a mistake saving people with no questions asked.

Radicalized white males who support Trump are pitching a tent in the abyss.

Don’t forget the Motor City

There was a good article about how incredibly well Democratic fundraising efforts are going this year in the Senate. There was one exception – Michigan where it isn’t so much that the Democratic incumbent is doing badly but that the Republican challenger is raising even more. Gary Peters, the Democratic incumbent, is a a great Senator. But because he’s running against a guy raising tons of money and who did really well against an incumbent Senator in 2018 (losing by only six points), the race is only listed as “Leans Democrat”.

Peters is the kind of Senator we need to support. Let’s raise a little money for him.

Been giving to him monthly since last year. I hope you’ll do a real longshot – Abby Broyles, who’s running against the loathsome Jim Imhof in Oklahoma. After all, Native Americans now own half the state! He can’t be all that popular even if he’s up by 19 points. Here’s a FTFNYT article from last year about how he used his position to keep water levels high for the boat dock at his lake house despite the fact that it causes flooding at a town upstream.

@Mary G:  Perhaps too much to hope for, but, man, what a great win that would be.

    @Baud:

We’ll never know if we don’t try. Same thing I said about Doug Jones back when some jackals didn’t think he could beat Roy Moore. And it was Fauci’s Facebook interview with Jones that got Twitler to start attacking Fauci openly instead of just disappearing him.

@Benw: We have our first zucchini, too big to be good to eat as is, but great grated and made into chocolate cake, which I’m thinking about doing.
