Even Erick ‘Voice of the GOP Gated Community’ Erickson is (for the moment) disillusioned!
erick, son of erick, is the last psuedo-mainstream republican still out here pretending that this is a reasonable party led by reasonable people, and i'd almost feel bad for him if i didn't know literally anything about him. https://t.co/ReSi0IS6ul
— golikehellmachine (@golikehellmachi) July 29, 2020
i'm not saying that he was right; what i'm saying is that millions of americans now believe things that are significantly less tethered to reality than this country's most infamous serial bomber believed.
— golikehellmachine (@golikehellmachi) July 29, 2020
your average qanon supporter has more rational views than your average non-qanon trump voter, because at least the qanon guy believes that there has to be an acceptable esoteric explanation for the exoteric shitshow the non-qanon guy fully endorses.

“The world so angry — is such an angry place!” Don’t know if it was specific information from Putin, or just the visible collapse of his fantasy empire, but Trump’s certainly terrified:
the absolute dumbest people on left twitter said that this story was debunked, so I'll just ignore the obvious visible terror on the President's face and his response that's incoherent even by his standards https://t.co/BAvAYbxUjd

Follow up question, “And when have you scheduled the phone call to discuss the bounties?”

It’s interesting to listen to that interview clip and hear Trump‘s voice go higher and higher, until at times he sounds almost strangulated. He. Is. Terrified, most of the time now. Maybe he has been all along, but now he can’t hide it.

Jesus, that interview was insane. The reporter was a friggin bull dog. No matter how many times Trump tried to distract him he stayed at it and Trump essentially ended up admitting that it doesn’t matter to him.
jl
“That was a phone call about other things.”
Give him points for consistency. Trump hasn’t worked solving any problems because his administration is about other things.
Raoul
Watching that clip, I do think the “Trump’s in cognitive decline” stuff is dumb. He understands what’s going on, what he’s being asked about, and attempts to formulate responses (not answers, that means something different than his parries).
But what is abundantly clear is: He is a lazy, unprepared, insanely selfish man who relies way too much on bluster. And the lazy bluster is super-duper not working now. I also think Putin’s Russian mafia loans are weighing heavily on him. He knows he’s screwed when this ride is over in January.
Jackie
Cockwomble: A person, usually male, prone to making outrageously stupid statements and/or inappropriate behaviour while generally having a very high opinion of their own wisdom and importance.
This describes Trump to a T.

Is that poll for Washington State? Yeah. I’m proud of my fellow Washingtonians. Although I will admit being related to some of those 29%-ers.
prostratedragon
Saw an interview in the Guardian with Brazilian singer Caetano Veloso, who among other things had strangely familiar things to say about the state of his country (“It’s just madness”). Wondering what he’d been singing lately, I found these, recorded in NYC in January. He’s accompanied by Ivan Sacerdote on clarinet and on the second, Mosquito on tres and vocal.

When Biden’s president, I really hope we have some Nuremberg-style trials or some kind of truth and reconciliation process. No, I don’t mean executions; I mean trials, or public hearings or some sort. Protracted, probing, your-BS-is-not-tolerated-here discussions. New laws and regulations that strengthen our institutions against Trump-style governance. I mean, this just cannot go on. Part of that involves people going to jail starting in 2021, but that’s not all. We need to identify the nonsense that Trump and his lackeys have abused (some of it publicly known, others not) and put a stop to it. Yes, I’m arguing that part of Biden’s agenda should be to put some leashes on the presidency, which is perhaps counterintuitive, but my god, we need this to stop.

So is Eric saying that hydroxy is a viable covid cure, just that she’s the wrong spokesperson?
Calouste
@Kent: It would be a shocking poll if it was for D.C., the shitgibbon got 4 (four)% of the vote there last time around. Still, this poll is a 10% swing towards Biden from 4 years ago,

Now that it seems that roughly 60% of males who got Covid 19, and survived, experience erectile dysfunction, testes shrinkage, penis breakage, penis reduction and infertility,
Should be a cure any day now,
Or at least an increase in mask wearing and social distancing.

Had a great night. Extended our “bubble” to 5 plus 2 dogs.
Met some of my SWIBO’s brilliant, changing the world co-workers at Alice’s Restaurant, social distanced in the yard, cooked for them mesquite beef tenderloin, foil potatoes, Jay Salad.
We had grilled Okanogan peaches and locally made, family owned small batch ice cream.
Lovely evening.

I’m old enough to remember when Eric son of Eric was an anti-Trumper. Until, you know, Trump won and, wow, never was there a faster 180 turn!
Now, he’s sensing the elections are not necessarily going to the Republicans advantage and he’s planning his next half pirouette.
Republicans are now either conspiracy theorists and fantasists or grifters.
platonicspoof
Soooo Erickson is going to ask us to send clown shoes to the hydroxy huckster in chief until he makes his “clown show” sales pitch somehow believable? Actually, I’d be slightly interested to know if he’s willing to donate to the Lincoln Project, if he’s really jumping ship, or just disagreeing with the hydroxy marketing campaign.

Wow. The traitorous Soviet shitpile mobster manbaby is even below his own racist, fascistic, pussy-grabbing standards.
So glad tens of millions of non-voting fucking failures as citizens of the United States didn’t have to live through 4 years of “Eewwww!!! Hillary!” as President.
Fucking non-voting selfish shithead children.

@mrmoshpotato:
It’s not like every American has the right to vote.
In the 2018 Midterms, 120 million didn’t vote. Roughly 60 million wern’t allowed to vote by various means,
As many as 30 million of the roughly 60 million who didn’t vote, didn’t vote because they were never given time off from work to vote.
Covid and killing the Post Office are going to kill the 2020 turn out, amongst other things.
mrmoshpotato
@Jay: Look at your numbers, dude.
smike
@mrmoshpotato:
This!
Jay
@mrmoshpotato:
over 60 million Americans are denied the franchise.
some 30 million can’t afford to stand in line for 8 hours to vote.
maybe, y’all should fix that, so that you don’t need Jill Stein voters, non-voters, etc, to win the slavers Electoral College.
opiejeanne
@Jay:
Sounds like fun, I hope you were careful.
What is SWIBO?
Chetan Murthy
@opiejeanne: She Who Insists on Being Obeyed, surely.
Jay
@Chetan Murthy:
yurp, she is right all the time. I am less right.
mrmoshpotato
@Jay: Christ.
The math in your numbers does not refute my “tens of millions of non-voting fucking failures as citizens of the United States” remark.
cliosfanboy
@mrmoshpotato: indeed. It makes the Stein/non voters worse
oldster
I wish we had a little more context for that 62 vs 28 number.
Like, what was the question?
Is this an approval poll, or a voting intentions poll? Was the population drawn from all registered voters, likely voters, whole population? And so on.
I love poll porn as much as the next, but more details would really help, and going to the tweet itself does not provide them.
Barney
The interview is like watching a ten year old try to give excuses why he didn’t do his homework. For three and a half years.
“No, I didn’t talk to him about my job of commanding the US military and keeping the personnel as safe as they can be in the front line. But I have heard of nuclear proliferation! That’s what counts. I want some of that. So does Putin. That’s what we should be talking about. And China. No, I do too read. Why, I read about some Indian soldiers getting killed in a fight with the Chinese. See? I’m a stable genius, and I know what’s going on in the world. And there’s China again. I told you. If we armed the Taliban before to fight the Soviet Union, it’s fine that Putin arms them now to fight us. I think the country I lead is now no better than Soviet Union was. That’s why I say ‘Keep America Great’.”
Brachiator
Many people say. So they tell me. It didn’t reach my desk.
Trump sounds so passive. So incurious. So afraid of Russia, and of upsetting Putin. It’s actually pathetic. He is a clueless, rattled old man totally out of his depth.
SFAW
@Jesse:
Change “reconciliation” to “retribution.” Even before the Murderer-in-Chief’s (in)actions — and those of his enablers — resulted in 100,000-plus deaths, those traitors had already done enough to destroy this country, such that “let’s study this judiciously” etc is a non-starter. If his maladministration, and Moscow Mitch, and much/most of the elected Republicans, get off with a sternly-worded letter and a finger wagged in their figurative faces, they will “learn” the same lesson that the Traitor-in-Chief learned from his impeachment acquittal.
Not saying they all need to be drawn-and-quartered, but lengthy prison stays (including life in prison for McConnell), seizing of their property/assets, and so forth , should be included/available.
One problem I foresee (were this to come to fruition) is that — to paraphrase Roy Scheider — we’re going to need a bigger prison.

@Jay: “New from me: USPS is trying to sneakily slash post office hours across the country and even close some offices entirely, likely in violation of federal law. https://t.co/nyLDySxQ9l— Aaron W. Gordon (@A_W_Gordon)”
Nah…they been doing this for YEARS, ever since the Crash of ’08…I organized a pushback by local rural customers a few years ago when our little PO appeared on the shit list. You get a few elderly TeaBaggers upset, and they come down like a hammer lol. The Lexington regional manager showed up to answer questions, and got reamed. Needless to say, our little PO is still open, albeit with reduced hours. The current push to close the PO down is just one more point on the continuum.

@Jim, Foolish Literalist: What I hate about this timeline is that for all I know, Gohmert doesn’t have COVID 19 and has offered to publicly take HydroC to prove Trump right
Peale
@oldster: Yep. I know its not a voting poll, unless its for California.
WaterGirl
The thing that disturbs me about that 28% is that 10% of people have expressed no opinion. I can only think that they are ashamed to say Trump but they can’t bring themselves to say Biden.
So I’d call that closer to 38% than 28%, which is way to high considering we have lived through the last 3 years. If Trump hasn’t done anything yet that allows you to say that you would vote for the other guy, I don’t think there’s anything he could do that put you over the line on that.
Trump was right about one thing. Sad.

in other news, Tangerine Tyrant has launched the first trial balloon in his Tweet-campaign/open call to delay the election, for what I’m only assuming is long enough for Biden to move into a retirement home somewhere in Delaware…
