Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

A norm that restrains only one side really is not a norm – it is a trap.

We do not need to pander to people who do not like what we stand for.

The Supreme Court cannot be allowed to become the ultimate, unaccountable arbiter of everything.

Human rights are not a matter of opinion!

Too often we hand the biggest microphones to the cynics and the critics who delight in declaring failure.

If America since Jan 2025 hasn’t broken your heart, you haven’t loved her enough.

You know it’s bad when the Project 2025 people have to create training videos on “How To Be Normal”.

Speaking of republicans, is there a way for a political party to declare intellectual bankruptcy?

Fucking consultants! (of the political variety)

Second rate reporter says what?

I see no possible difficulties whatsoever with this fool-proof plan.

Washington Post Catch and Kill, not noticeably better than the Enquirer’s.

This is dead girl, live boy, a goat, two wetsuits and a dildo territory.  oh, and pink furry handcuffs.

If you can’t control your emotions, someone else will.

Roe is not about choice. It is about freedom.

That’s my take and I am available for criticism at this time.

We can show the world that autocracy can be defeated.

Rupert, come get your orange boy, you petrified old dinosaur turd.

Balloon Juice, where there is always someone who will say you’re doing it wrong.

Damn right I heard that as a threat.

Republicans: slavery is when you own me. freedom is when I own you.

Text STOP to opt out of updates on war plans.

Impressively dumb. Congratulations.

The gop is a fucking disgrace.

Have you thought about how you would go about putting those thoughts into action?  If the answer is yes, you should call a suicide hotline immediately.

    @Ken:

The following week, Judge Lawrence Hill dropped the hate crime charge against Urbanski, calling the state’s position “utter speculation” and stating that they failed to provide enough evidence that Urbanski targeted Collins solely on the virtue of his race. Solomon Comissiong, president of the university’s Black Faculty and Staff Association, said he was “unsettled” by the ruling, and believed there was a correlation between Urbanski’s racist online community and his actions.

Sean Urbanski, 22 at the time of the incident, was a senior at the University of Maryland and grew up in Severna Park, Maryland. Urbanski began school as an engineering major, but dropped out after his first year. After attending Anne Arundel Community College, Urbanski re-enrolled at Maryland as a kinesiology major in 2016. Urbanski’s affiliation with an alt-right Facebook group known as “Alt-Reich: Nation”, as well as Urbanski’s possession of racist images on his phone, became a major point of contention for his trial. Responding to the page Urbanski belonged to, UMD’s police chief said “When I look at the information that’s contained on that website, suffice it to say that it’s despicable, it shows extreme bias against women, Latinos, persons of Jewish faith and especially African Americans.”

Guy has racist memes on his phone and was apart of an alt-right Facebook group and yet according to the judge there was no evidence the murder had no racial motivation; that it was “utter speculation”. Did Hill need a written confession by Urbanski that he was a racist and that’s why he murdered Collins?

Wow! I mean, it is in line with his anti-government politics, but yeah speaking out of support of the evil Antifa is especially a sin on the right these days.
