Maine is one of the most interesting Senate races right now — Biden is way up but Sara Gideon is only up on Susan C. by a little. Gideon is raising a lot of money…but so are all the Democratic Senate candidates in competitive races. Let’s help her out.

And when you feel you can’t go on, I’ll come and hold you

I got an e-mail from Susan Rice for Gideon this morning:
Thought it was interesting. I don’t recall seeing her name on political mailings before (but I get so many that I might have missed it).
Cheers,
Scott.

Wasn’t there a big fund gathered to support the Democratic opponent of Sen. Collins, whoever that might be? Millions of dollars IIRC? Where is that money?
Does Gideon have that money? Who should be in jail for fraud and theft if not?
Omnes Omnibus
@J R in WV: What evidence do you have that the money went astray?

@J R in WV: Gideon@J R in WV:
She does indeed have that money, some of which was mine, and she seems to be putting it to good use. However, Collins has a huge amount of outside funding.

@Omnes Omnibus: I actually donated to that fund, but I don’t recall whether they took the money out in real time or whether it was more of a pledge to give when there was a candidate.
I suspect the former because I have not been asked to pony up, and I have not seen a recent charge
edit: and the answer is just above me at #5.

I’ll do this again in an open thread:
Help grassroots Democratic activists flip Texas blue

@J R in WV:
Gideon has the money from Ady Barkan’s “Be A Hero Fund”.
Over $4 million. Collins is quite bitter about it, publicly.
The Republicans are attempting to defend Collins’s seat with massive transfer of cash. Already this is far and away the most expensive political race in Maine history. Imagine what it’ll be like by October ….

@WaterGirl:
The pledges happened before Collins voted to confirm Kavanaugh, contingent on her voting for confirmation.
She voted for confirmation, and your pledged amount should have been charged when Gideon was confirmed as the Democratic nominee. Mine was.
That’s been a while ago, so it’s easy to have not noticed or to have forgotten by now.
ETA: corrections above.

@raven:
yup

@Skepticat:
I ask because some of that money was ours…
Glad to hear it went to the right place.
@Omnes Omnibus:
Where in my comment do you see that I assert that it went astray?
That’s why I ask a question, then I assert that if it didn’t go to the right place trouble needs to happen. Not the same thing at all.
Really!!

@Another Scott:
Susan Rice has family ties to Maine. She considered a Senate run here.

@joel hanes: So fucking good. Probably my favorite version of that song and lord knows there are some good ones out there.
