It’s kind of nuts that Trump can literally recommend people take poison without his numbers taking much of a hit. But that’s the world we live in.
Biden’s still ahead but I won’t be surprised if it’s very close. Thought it might be a good day to do a bit of twofer — money for state Democratic parties that are trying to swing the state lej that are also states that could easily tip the national election. By the way, we are closing in on a total of 750K raised since September 2016.

Time to put Trump on the Wolverine, or vice-versa.

@Mike J:
This is a set-up of course for a very relevant line from later in the song.

still wondering just how artificial this fucking horse race narrative is… CNN polling says the race is tightening and I’m sitting here trying to fathom why… what’s changed? Biden named Harris as his running mate, did the nomination of a Black Woman swing people into the Trump camp? Really? The continued litany of death is still with us, but is his attempted suppression of the numbers infected and dying having an effect? Are people just accepting that all of this death is simply becoming more acceptable? Are the kids “going back to school” seen as some kind of victory?
really having a hard trying to determine what has landed more people into determining that voting for Trump is somehow a “good thing”. Are the numbers being cooked to feed the narrative? All signs pointed to this guy being dead in the water, how the fuck is he being resurrected?

@piratedan: It is probably just noise. None of the other polls are showing any tightening.

OT:
I made a fairly anodyne comment on America’s soft power on Twitter the other day in response to Jen Rubin calling Kamala Harris a Truman Democrat. It was about how the last 4 years of the United States being absent from the international scene has given the repressive regimes a free rein against their minorities.
I have been trolled for it by the purity left, MAGA right and the Hindutva right.

@piratedan: I noted in the morning thread that polls always seem to tighten against us in August. Some people thought it was because the Dem convention is usually in July and there’s a drop off. I don’t know, because I think it also happens during the midterms.
Anywho, no one who hasn’t made up their minds will be paying attention before Labor Day.
Enhanced Voting Techniques
@piratedan: I gather the real story is Trump losing over all but within the polling margin of error in the swing states.

@schrodingers_cat: Outlier polls are outlier. There will always be one of these so the MSM can go ZOMGHORSERAAACE!!! And then it’s shown to be a bad poll or not supported by other polling. But they’ll keep coming back to it because they NEED things to be tight. But I go back to what I have been saying over and over: polls don’t vote. We do. And since the current play is voter suppression writ large with the Post Office we have a lot to counter. But this early out we can still fight it.

There go two miscreants
I just gave to the NC Dems a little while ago, but I’m in for WI on this one.

So, twelve comments, and four about the Steely Dan song from the post title. That does sound like us.
