Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Fight for a just cause, love your fellow man, live a good life.

At some point, the ability to learn is a factor of character, not IQ.

Hey hey, RFK, how many kids did you kill today?

fuckem (in honor of the late great efgoldman)

Just because you believe it, that does not make it true.

Russian mouthpiece, go fuck yourself.

T R E 4 5 O N

Well, whatever it is, it’s better than being a Republican.

A norm that restrains only one side really is not a norm – it is a trap.

The truth is, these are not very bright guys, and things got out of hand.

It is possible to do the right thing without the promise of a cookie.

Shut up, hissy kitty!

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

Sadly, media malpractice has become standard practice.

“Everybody’s entitled to be an idiot.”

Beware of advice from anyone for whom Democrats are “they” and not “we.”

America is going up in flames. The NYTimes fawns over MAGA celebrities. No longer a real newspaper.

Technically true, but collectively nonsense

They were going to turn on one another at some point. It was inevitable.

The current Supreme Court is a dangerous, rogue court.

Nothing says ‘pro-life’ like letting children go hungry.

But frankly mr. cole, I’ll be happier when you get back to telling us to go fuck ourselves.

So the freak out about letting the four Republicans talk was sound and fury signifying nothing. It was short, sweet, and to the point. And the cognitive hook for Republican leaning Independents and on the fence Republicans in terms of giving them permission to go ahead and vote for Biden to put country over party is worth the five minutes or so it took on the program.

Went to get some snacks when the “former” Republicans came on…but I understand it. We don’t just need to beat Chump, we NEED a mandate.

To do that we need to have some of those never-trumpers and former Trumpers to vote along w/Dems hopefully NOT just top of ticket, but to get rid of the GOP that enable Chump…so I get it!

But I don’t have to listen to em…LOL

Kasich’s comments were insulting.  It’s not just Donnie.  He’s not an anomaly.  He’s not breaking everything by himself.  The GOP is broken as well, and saying that we all need to listen to each other and find a new way forward is gaslighting us.  Kasich ignored his Democratic opponent in a joint press interview.  He’s not one to lecture us about being respectful and listening and so forth.

Welcome aboard in getting rid of Donnie.  Don’t expect that to prevent us from trying to defeat every Republican everywhere, though…

I think it’s because they can’t control the narrative.  They can’t have cameramen looking for folks in the crowd frowning or folding their arms, are looking perturbed. They can’t have closeup of stupid protests or whistles or posters or whatever. They can’t control the visual narrative and they are NOT happy about it.

A Burbank resident tweeted out photos and videos of the other side of the box, with the little pull down door that blocks access to the actual mail while it is open and they are unlocked. And the same person explained that they lock the Burbank post office after business hours because people were stealing stuff and trying to break into PO boxes.

Powerful stuff from beginning to end. And choosing “For What It’s Worth” as the closing number was an interesting choice, bringing to mind all those comparisons with 1968 that boomers have been talking about all year already.

The hippies won in 1974 when Nixon resigned. And then lost, big time, for a generation, when Reagan came in in 1980. I believe the victory will be much more thorough and lasting this time.

Tomorrow I vote in the Democratic Primary in Florida. I requested my Ballot early July and received in mid July, filled it out and put it in my mailbox the next day. I waited a week and checked in to the Election Commision website in my County. They had received it, verified it, and it was in the que to be counted. So a few more days and I’ll find out about that and make my decision about whether I vote by mail Nov 3.
