We’ve hit 900K in total fundraising since 2016 so here’s a Benny pic as promised.
Let’s raise some money for the two Georgia Senate races.
Jon Ossoff, Georgia Senate (regular election)
Raphael Warnock, Georgia Senate (special election)
You can see all the candidates we are supporting here.

@badgirl: Well, yeah, it’s tough to perform if you’re all, y’know, dead and shit.

Wear those boots everywhere, Benny.

Omy goodness. Is that your baby boy DougJ. he’s gotten so big! Man kid grows fast don’t they. I came across old pics of my Nieces Zoe and Layla and my Nephews Joshua and Noah and it’s amazing how quick they go from babies to Kindergarteners, Pre-K’ers and toddler.
And in mid October, I’ll have ANOTHER niece Olivia!
Hey Bennie, ya cutie!
raven
@badgirl: Sucked, he’s dead.
scav
Now, if that’s not an incentive!
badgirl
yes sucked and his music still sucks

Someone mentioned this in the Princess Bride thread from earlier today, but I thought it was worth re-iterating her: WisDems had a huge fundraising haul from Sunday’s script reading! [Source]
$4.25 million was raised before and during the event. Hopefully, the money will work to flip Wisconsin in November. (In related news, Wisconsin Absentee ballots could first be mailed out today.)
Related comment – Fred Savage was (I think) the only living cast member not to attend. They didn’t really mention it during the broadcast, but his younger brother (Ben, of Boy Meets World fame) had a 40th birthday celebration already planned for Sunday.
Unrelated comment – thanks for the awesome kiddo pic! XD

Goodness… Joe is on CNN and giving a lesson in how to respond in a town hall.

That child does not have enough toys.

@JPL: I can’t believe this is the first I’ve heard of Joe’s town hall tonight.

My boss has let me direct his election spending this cycle (and 2018). It’s fun being a big spender, even if it is vicarious. We’ve maxed out to Biden/Harris and all the competitive Senate races, gave $1000 each to all the House races that the Cook Report deemed “toss up” and $500 each to all the “lean D” and “lean R” House races. It’s added up to about $80K so far. Any thoughts on other donations that might make a difference? I think I can get him to cough up another $10K or so.

@Baud:“I’ve been doing this a long time, I never ever ever thought I would see such a thoroughly totally irresponsible administration.”

Eta: ok, i was missing something, I didnt know the words to….that Charlie Daniels song.

raven
@DougJ: What a great lookin dude!

Benny! Good to see him, and the fireman get-up is very apropos. Love his little boots.
Mary G
Benny! Squee! Send him west – we need all the firefighters we can get.
LeftCoastYankee
Very cute!
Tell Benny we got plenty of work for him out here in Oregon. Although I don’t think they get to drive in the cool red trucks for these fires….

@Mary G: Overwhelming the wildfires with cuteness!

@Stuart Frasier: GOTV orgs like Vote Riders, Let America Vote, or the ACLU to provide legal power to fight ratfucking?

@Mary G: The Bobcat fire has burned all the way though the San Gabriels. They’re evacuating Devil’s Punchbowl* and the surrounding communities.

@MagdaInBlack:
“Fire on the Mountain” was written by George McCorkle in the hopes that his friend Charlie Daniels would record it on the album of the same name. When Daniels decided not to use it, McCorkle recorded it with his band, The Marshall Tucker Band, with Daniels guesting on fiddle. It became the band’s first Top 40 hit single and is one of the most popular Southern rock tunes

I love the little people. I despair about the planet we seem hell bent on leaving them.
raven
@MagdaInBlack: And the flip side was
Well I’m goin’ down to the river
I’ve got a canepole in my hand
I’ve got my redworms in a Maxwell house coffee can
I’m gonna sit under ashade tree on a riverbank where it’s cool
I’m gonna close my eyes and dream and let the cork Bob away my blues
Dorothy A. Winsor
That kid is adorable.
MagdaInBlack
@raven: I admit to liking Marshall Tucker =-)
Eta: think we had it on 8-track
raven
@MagdaInBlack: They were really good. Charlie was an asshole but Sweetwater Texas was sweet!

@Stuart Frasier: There are a whole bunch of good options in the What We Can Do list in the sidebar. Plus you can find DougJ’s All 2020 Fundraising in the blue box top right (on a computer or tablet in landscape) and in the hamburger menu on mobile.

Benny is absolutely adorable! HIs rescue work needs a little work though, he pulled the rag doll out of the fire and then left her there on the floor unattended.
WaterGirl
Because of beautiful Benny, not not one of us has commented on the $900,000!
When you say “since 2016” does the mean starting in 2016, or after the 2016 election? I am guessing it’s the former.
Stuart Frasier
@Mary G: I’ll do some looking into them. GOTV or election fairness groups seem ideal.

@Mary G: Da FUQ??!!

Cuter and bigger child–not a baby anymore!
I hate it when ActBlue forgets who I am.

I was going to contribute to Doug Jones so I decided to see whether BJ had a “thermometer.” Turns out we were short of our $10,000 goal so I made up the difference. I’m sure the campaign is going to be puzzled about the weird amount.
dnfree
Here’s a little story. I’m giving to three representatives in my area. One of them is Raja Krishnamoorthi. He has a Facebook page that is often filled with hateful comments, some of which have (irrelevantly) referenced him being born in India. I commented to one of the chief trolls that I was going to donate a dollar for every time he mentioned India in one of his comments. He actually was sort of a good sport about it (though he still posts hateful comments). When he got up to 25 “India” references, I donated $25 to Raja and notified the campaign that it was because of that individual.

@Zelma: Every time I see your nym it reminds me of my Aunt Zelma, who was the only other person I’ve ever known with that name (if it is your name).
WaterGirl
@Zelma: Nice!!!!
10k for Doug Jones.

@dnfree:
I’ve donated to Raja Krishnamoorthi too. He calls every once in a while and we chat. He seems like a good person to me, and probably is a good, hardworking congressman for his district.
Back when I still worked as a software developer, we wound up running a large project, very complex, tracking environmental data, permit applications, inspections and violations, the whole enviro shebang. Not long after we realized the amount of work we were in for, we started raising funds for “temporary” staff, contract developers from anywhere.
Most of the branches of the agency had plenty of money for operational expenses, running their groups, so we were able to get funding for the contractor developers. Lots of them were from South Asia, India, Pakistan, China, Peru, all over the world, actually.
I was really proud to have been able to bring really brilliant people to America, they found wives, had families, became citizens, did good work for us, some moved on to other gigs in the Beltway Bandit area, or Columbus, or Pittsburgh, one couple moved to the west coast. One woman is Chinese but now a Canadian citizen…
Anyway, I’m glad most Americans feel good about people who want to come here for a better life. These people work hard, get good educations, provide services for other Americans, make life better for everyone.
People like Kamala Harris, Raja Krisnamoorthi, and so many of those folks who worked with me in software for all those years. People who have problems with these new citizens need to just go away to somewhere they won’t have to deal with people who want to move there. Like Somalia, for example!
