Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

“What are Republicans afraid of?” Everything.

Disappointing to see gov. newsom with his finger to the wind.

A norm that restrains only one side really is not a norm – it is a trap.

Welcome to day five of every-bit-as-bad-as-you-thought-it-would-be.

So it was an October Surprise A Day, like an Advent calendar but for crime.

No one could have predicted…

The current Supreme Court is a dangerous, rogue court.

At some point, the ability to learn is a factor of character, not IQ.

When you’re a Republican, they let you do it.

Relentless negativity is not a sign that you are more realistic.

Dear Washington Post, you are the darkness now.

Jack be nimble, jack be quick, hurry up and indict this prick.

Usually wrong but never in doubt

Conservatism: there are people the law protects but does not bind and others who the law binds but does not protect.

Baby steps, because the Republican Party is full of angry babies.

When we show up, we win.

And now I have baud making fun of me. this day can’t get worse.

I swear, each month of 2025 will have its own history degree.

We will not go quietly into the night; we will not vanish without a fight.

Polls are now a reliable indicator of what corporate Republicans want us to think.

Michigan is a great lesson for Dems everywhere: when you have power…use it!

It’s always darkest before the other shoe drops.

Stop using mental illness to avoid talking about armed white supremacy.

Compromise? There is no middle ground between a firefighter and an arsonist.

It sounds like it was a good speech from those of you commenting in the previous thread. So I thought I’d toss it here.

President Trump is headed to Walter Reed Medical Center, according to a White House pool report. NBC News reported on air that Trump is expected to be at Walter Reed for a few days and will work from the offices there.

@Punchy: Admit to where? Walter Reed?? (and it’s an open thread and I KNOW this is all anyone is thinking about today).

    Holy shit.

    Meanwhile…

.@realdonaldTRUMP WILL MOVE TO A SPECIAL SUITE AT WALTER REED NATIONAL MILITARY MEDICAL CENTER FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS AS A PRECAUTIONARY MEASURE. DOCTORS URGED THE MOVE TO WALTER REED SO TRUMP COULD GET IMMEDIATE CARE IF NEEDED -WH OFFICIAL via @steveholland1— Alex Alper (@alexalper) October 2, 2020

So, we’ve gone from ‘a slight cold’ to ‘feeling fatigue’ to ‘just in case, he’s going to Walter Reed’ in what, about 18 hours.

I’m glad you’re putting up Biden’s speeches.  All I can think about, is that I hope he and Jill don’t get this bug (knock wood).  I’m neither religious, nor spiritual, nor believe in anything other than what is *here*.  But I can’t stop thinking and hoping.  I guess, it’s what’s classified as “prayer” for a confirmed atheist.

Ugh.  He’s trying to save our country.  He didn’t have to do this.  I just hope he and Jill come thru unscathed.

Thank you, I’ll try. I just think it’s important we keep focused on our GOAL and it’s this sane, compassionate, intelligent man.

I know it’ll get “trumped” all the time, but at least everyone can come back and listen when they are able.

I posted this at the tail end of Cole’s most excellent post: Was recalling how Obama started doing the job early post-election to deal with the financial crisis.  Seems Biden will need to start early to deal with…EVERYTHING.

The president’s condition worsened Friday, officials said, though they maintained he remained “in good spirits.” The president is struggling with a low-grade fever, a cough and nasal congestion, among other symptoms, said two people familiar with his condition.

Trump is expected to be at Walter Reed for a few days and will work from the offices there.

I predict Trump will do exactly as much work when he’s in Walter Reed as he does in the White House. Of course he’ll do as much work when he’s dead and buried as he does in the White House, so that’s not saying much.

FWIW, they just showed footage of Trump walking out to Marine 1 to go to Walter Reed, and he doesn’t look like someone with severe symptoms. That makes this seem more like they’re taking precautions and/or want him to be in an actual hospital while taking IV medication rather than him being desperately ill.
