    True confession time…. I HATE WATCHING DEBATES.

    Never had any use for them. I like seek and find information about candidates on my own and read policy docs and statements.

    I don’t need a debate to convince me to choose any candidate.

    So I rarely if ever watch them LIVE, even if l love the candidate. Instead I watch clip afterwards and occasionally watch post-debate analysis, but even that, no so much.

    So I can’t promis that I will be watching the debate tonight, but I will be recording it for later viewing AND following along and posting about other folks impressions…LOL

    I don’t want folks to expect fireworks and instead get a few bangs, but mostly substantive discussions.

    Especially since thx to the COVID super-spreader Chump…the first debate was a travesty.

    Don’t know if it will be disappointing or not. I think Harris is much quicker on her feet, and can do serious bone-deep gravitas withot seeming ‘angry’ (though the old out-of-it 50s sit-com sidekicks who play pundits will accuse her of that no matter what she does). Harris will do better, what the popular and pundit verdict is, who knows?

    I think safe to say that if Harris obliterates a helpless Pence, some circles will deem her angry, mean, and unfair. Harris could try to giggle her way through it, but then would be deemed frivolous, you know, just like those women.

    Because I’m a masochist I follow Maria Antoinette Bartiromo on the twitter machine.  She mentioned that Steve Scully the host for next weeks debate was a 6 week mail room intern for Joe Biden in ’78 so poor Steve Scully is going to get ripped apart as being biased no matter what he does. Anyhow, Susan Page held a Girls Night of some sort honoring CMS Head Seema Verma. Seema Verma is a Pence minion from his Indiana governor years. Personally I think Page will be okay. She doesn’t come across as a Chuck Todd type.

    The biggest challenge with  Pence is that he is an excellent liar.  I’ve been lied to by some outstanding liars, but he is one of the best I’ve seen.  Like the power hungry sociopath he is, he has the ability to come across as earnest while lying.
    I did feel reassured when I listened to Kamala’s interview with Hillz on her new podcast (excellent and a must listen) because she said the challenge with debating Pence is that he lies.  I think she said it in a more diplomatic way, but the message was delivered.  She knows he’s a lying liar who lies.

    I don’t give much weight to this cycle’s primary debates. There were just too many people on the stage. But Kamala Harris has proven herself a skilled and tough debater in one on one situations, starting in 2003 with her takedown of San Francisco DA Terence Hallinan. I expect her to be hardheaded, and that the spin doctors will make of that what they will. But I think viewers will welcome a hardheaded critique of the essentially softheaded trump/pence administration.

    Also, there is this statement, cited in the Heavy article, that mentions that Regeneron uses “a
    wide variety of research tools and technologies” that includes human embryonic stem cells. They are very, very careful with their words so as not to set off the enforced pregnancy crowd.

    So it appears that Trump was not ingesting the blood of innocent babies.

It’s  an antibody cocktail generated using genetically modified mice, blood cells isolated from convalescent COVID-19 patients, and a whole lot of molecular biology (https://science.sciencemag.org/content/369/6506/1010).

    However, that article links to supplemental information about the materials and methods used to make all this stuff. And that does include the use of HEK293T cells as part of the process to generate the molecular biology tools used to immunize the cells and create the antibody cocktail.     One of the things that struck me was when she mentioned  that she and Bill were going to RBG’s memorial and I thought, “Oh, that’s right! She was first lady!” I got so involved in her own story I forgot she is married to a former President. What an incredible life.
