How’d they Photoshop that guy’s face onto my body?
@Baud: Too bad for us that we can’t see what else they photoshopped onto him.
Edit: I guess that makes no sense, but this is a Baud comment subthread, so I’ll let it stand.
Kamala Harris uncle from India with better debate analysis than half of the dudebros on MSNBC.
Hahaha, I assumed that was you.
@zhena gogolia: Being virtual has its advantages.
Oh, that is so charming.
@lamh36: LMAO! I just showed this to my hubby (who is black) and he got a kick out of it.
Just read that Bollier is up 3 in a Republican(!!!) internal poll. Holy smokes!
Old Dan and Little Ann
My FB hate follow who is the biggest trump humper I know posted yesterday that he now thinks drumph is going to lose. The comments of all his idiot friends were a sight to behold. The alternative fucking universe phenomenon is no joke.
Re GOTV, I wonder if it is a good idea to send money to AZ (B +4.3 per 538) , FL (+ 4.2) and NC (+2.6) . And seem to trending to B. Those states have early in-person voting, and start counting mail votes early. If they go Biden, good chance winner is called election night, won’t need to wait for PA or WI.
@Old Dan and Little Ann: I was out on business yesterday, and some folks decided to talk about the election for a little bit. It’s not even about issues – the biggest thing that came up was Hunter Biden’s massive billion-dollar grift from China to start a hedge fund. Jesus, that was an eye-opener and a bit sad, because that is the stupidest thing to get hung up on.
@PsiFighter37: Woah. Oh hey I am mailing my ballot tonight :-) So excited. The wind is blowing in our sails. I can feel it
@lamh36: I have sent you a couple of emails about San Francisco.
@Pete Downunder: cool. I look for them . th
ETA: Got them. So I’ve been at least 2x already, but only once for a “extended” time. This will likely be the first time I’ve spent longer than 3 days, especially if my fam comes through with me
Whoa, that is really good.
On the GOTV front, tonight I am writing postcards for Eric Holguin, a Democratic candidate for Texas State Rep. Let’s run up the score!
@Old Dan and Little Ann: yup
even my dad has thrown in the towel… I am getting the occasional “both sides” comment and he really liked Biden‘s Gettysburg speech.
next up will be more of, “ You know, I never liked the guy, I just liked his policies…”

Here’s an official statement by SoS Pompeo on upcoming elections in Africa.
“Hold on” you say, “there are 54 nations in Africa. Which one(s) is he talking about?”
Luckily you have the full text of his statement available there, so you can presumably figure it out. What, you can’t?
Channeling Kay and her comments on low-quality hires.
@Gin & Tonic:
For sure Pompeo can I.D. them all on an unmarked map.
Damn. Congrats, man.
Team Joe aren’t missing a beat.
@Gin & Tonic:
All of them,
@Gin & Tonic: Yeah, but could he find it on a map? (what a dick)
Not you, of course.
Realizing he’s not everyone’s cuppa, Olbermann is ba-a-a-ack.
After a beach trip I’m sitting on the couch not doing Lil Bits eyes here at home for the first time in more than a decade.

Must be why trump is not happy with Pompeo at the minute.
@NotMax: Definitely has a self-important streak, but honestly – I liked him way, way better than Maddow. She gets way too bogged down in the weeds for prime-time TV IMO.

I’m shocked and devastated to hear that Monica Roberts, a pioneer and titan in trans activism just died suddenly. She was a fearless force of nature, who took absolutely no shit, who’d rip a new asshole into the haters as naturally as breathing. Not much more I can say right now, I’m too stunned.
Rest in Power, Auntie Moni.
@Jeffro: Is it the loser stink? There are people who want to be able to say they voted for the winner. Trump is shedding them nearly as fast as viral particles.
Oh, I was afraid that would be so difficult — taking care of her has been part of your routine for so long. Those are the moments that get to you.
OK, I just did a google search for “pence covid” and a link to deadline.com showed up. It’s dated one hour ago and has the caption “DEADLINE. DO NOT PUBLISH UNTIL THE NEWS CROSSES. Vice President Mike Pence…” The URL has “vice-president-mike-pence-tests-positive-has-coronavirus-after-donald-trump” but gives a 404. Are they a prank site or did I stumble across something?
Pre-written in case the news breaks? Like an obituary?

Lawn sign report from walking the dog this evening. I was noticing the nice row of Biden and Biden-Harris signs lining both sides of one block. Took note of the one Republican lawn, but then realized that all the signs on that lawn were for state races and local candidates. No Trump sign.
The other Republican lawns still have their Trump-Pence signs and that one guy still has the giant Trump flag on his flagpole. But I take it as a good sign that at least one Republican household is ashamed to have a Trump sign out front.
@lamh36: Uncle Balachandran for the win. His analysis of the debate is on point.
@Ken: A mistake. I think big news groups have big stories pre-written (like they do for obituaries) and drop in specific details as it happens.
@zhena gogolia: Nah, it’s ok. It just struck me that I’m so used to reaching for her. We came home to some very nice cards from friends and that helps. We have to turn our attention to the big boy now.
@raven: sorry so sorry
NOPE…fuq ’em. Joe’s got other plans
@Ceci n est pas mon nym: Something I noticed on my own sign survey is the Democrats’ signs all show the party affiliation, but except for one candidate the Republicans’ signs do not.

I’m surprised the google link is still around after an hour – unless it’s because people like me keep clicking on it and reinforcing the relevancy algorithm.

@Ken: Yep, same thing around here. I just know the names of the Repub candidates due to seeing them on Trump lawns. Also they use a deep blue Democratic-looking background instead of the red they used to use.
@raven: They leave such big holes in our lives and hearts. You gifted her a lot of time with your love, eye drops, and eating chair that a lot of owners couldn’t be bothered with.
@Immanentize: Thanks, we knew it would be a rollercoaster.

@lamh36: To echo what others said downstairs, I’d recommend visiting SF. Fall is usually one of the best times to visit, and both the smoke is down, and SF has one of the lowest Covid infection rates in the nation.
The fires that are still going aren’t immediately near SF, although the smoke can blow depending on the winds. The wildcard factor is whether any new major fires breakout at the tail end of fire season.
@raven: Oh, I am so sorry. I missed the news last week, so please let me offer my condolences now.
I hope the cards do help. When I get them, they just make me cry some more.
@Baud: Photoshop is magic!
@CaseyL: Yea, there is that. We have to get her ashes and paw print tomorrow and have thank you cards to her three vets. I must say that we shared quite a few laughs about her this past week.
@HumboldtBlue: I’ve been to Nando’s twice, it’s OK though a little pricey for what it is. I found the barbeque chicken dry but the skewered chicken was good. Some friends did not like the spice mixture at all – the restaurant is Afro-Caribbean.
I thought your father was a dead-ender, based on your past comments, but kudos to him for even listening to, much less liking, Biden’s Gettysburg speech.
@raven: man…. Lil Bit chasing after Bohdi. Poor Bohdi too.
@raven: Thank you cards for the vets! What a wonderful idea. They sure deserve thanks, for all the good years we have with our critters.
What a great follow he is
@Ceci n est pas mon nym: We’re down in on the Georgia coast, where we’ve come regularly for the last 20 years. While Trump signs are still more plentiful, I’ve seen more signs for Biden than I ever remember seeing for a democrat. A lot of the local republicans have signs for local races, but not Trump.
@geg6: hey geg6. You mentioned you plan to have your kids in the calendar. Send me an email message and I will send you the link to upload.
@geg6: I don’t know who he is, but that was great!
Not that it means anything as WA is not remotely a swing state. But in my own suburban neighborhood I’ve seen maybe 6-8 Biden signs walking around and not one single Trump sign. That is in total contrast to 2016 when there were more Trump signs and this precinct went almost exactly 50/50 for Trump/Clinton.
Of course out in rural WA you still see the GIANT Trump signs on barns and hay stacks and such.
@lamh36: Virtual debate would be fine, as the commission proposed this morning. But Trump’s campaign is demanding in-person, and that’s a big nope nope nope without far more transparency into his medical condition and history than we’ve had so far.
@raven: I m sorry. It’s never easy.
It’s weird how the little gaps and changes in the routine hit you. It took me a hell of a long time to undeploy the housecat’s heating-pad workstation by the computer.
You gave Li’l Bit a great life. That’s what counts. Best wishes to you and Bohdi.
From that thread, cats are assholes.
@CaseyL: We are so lucky to live in a town with a Vet Med Hospital at the University and all the specialists who like to live her. Her ophthalmologist has clients from all over the south, her cardiologist is top notch as is her GP. It was a team effort.
@lamh36: Clowns, all of them.
@EmbraceYourInnerCrone: Bohdi has Embrace Health Insurance!
Why are we even having debates in 2020? Voters have all the information they need. But let’s be honest, who changes their minds after a debate?
Biden shouldn’t put himself, his spouse and anyone else who’ll be forced to be that close to the super spreader. He should tell Trump and his campaign to fuck off.
Some did. Trump’s numbers declined after his utterly unhinged performance in the first debate
But there’s no need to do it in-person during a pandemic. All the cable news channels have talking heads debating against each other every single day from different locations with a moderator in a 3rd location. It’s what they do most of the day. They have the technology. It is very perfected. We don’t need to use zoom.
@Steeplejack: I can’t tell you how often people say “A Little Bit”!
@Sister Golden Bear: thx!
I’ll def be checking prices and stuff. I really need a true vaykay break

@raven: Did I miss something?
@lamh36: If I’m the Biden campaign I press back hard on Trump’s irresponsibiliity and Conley’s destroyed credibility. Stressing:
a) Why should we believe Conley’s prediction when he won’t even tell us the date of Trump’s last negative test so we can evaluate the likelihood that Joe was exposed at the last debate. Conley has destroyed his credibility. That is his choice, but the price is that he is no longer to be regarded as trustworthy.
b) Trumps behaviour was shockingly irresponsible in going to the debate without having been recently tested, even though that was a requirement, and having his audience refuse to wear masks, even though that was a requirement. There was genuine concern that Joe would have contracted the virus. There is no way that they are going to give Trump another chance to flout protocols and possibly infect Biden.
Trump has already had one chance to demonstrate his appalling irresponsibility. He’s not going to get another one. Virtual or nothing. Next time follow the rules
Seriously: Go on the attack about this. Trump’s actions threatened Biden’s life! Drive that point home. Who the hell is he to be making demands for in-person debates after that disgraceful irresponsibility.
@Gin & Tonic: Yea, she stopped eating and we took her in and they found liver and bile duct cancer. We had to let her go a week ago. Then we think Bohdi fell on the steps at the beach somewhere and he’s struggling mightily.

My absentee ballot was issued on Sept. 24 but still hasn’t come. Everyone else I know here got theirs last week. I talked to the county clerk on Wednesday. He said if it didn’t come by tomorrow to call him back. I was impressed by him but I want my ballot!
Here’s a fun pic, I caught a decent bluefish and the kids were fascinated!
I for one am extremely happy to know that. Big fan of Olbermann.
Beto on Chris Hayes was really good.
@Gin & Tonic: It was pretty quick and that will matter down the line.
@Kent: Don’t look for Dolt45 signs. Look for Culp signs. Those are the mark of the assholes up here. I’ve been seeing a LOT more Culp signs over his.

Oh, raven, I missed that. I knew she was sick but I thought she had some time left. So sorry.

Wow. Just absurd.
Some of my friends were formerly Canadian diplomats in Kenya, Cameroon, Senegal (and other African nations I don’t remember — oh, yeah, Côte d’Ivoire). I’m going to send them this link. I’m sure they’ll be amused. And horrified.

@Viva BrisVegas: Indeed it is.
@raven: fingers crossed for Bohdi
@raven: When our beagle Maggie had her two cervical discs removed the vet put her on both. It seemed to help. We told her at the time she better be around for a while and she lasted another 7 years.

@Viva BrisVegas: Yes. Same fish.
Twitter seems to be excited about a short video of Trump that the White House released today. He’s shown standing on the lawn in front of the White House, saying some blahblahblah. There’s something weird-looking about the video. The edges of his suit are very sharp, and the focus in the background is strange. Some people are saying it’s green-screened. I don’t know enough about video to have an informed opinion, but it definitely looks weird to me.
For example: https://twitter.com/TheRealHoarse/status/1314256654859370500
Can anyone say anything more definitive?
@raven: Used gabapentin on Puck and it was like she was falling down drunk. Reducing the dosage still left her drunk.
oh jesus, man, when it rains it pours. so sorry to hear.
@Gin & Tonic: I was out on the sandbar with a spoon tied to 15lb mono and no leader. I had to wade and then swim holding the rod up to get it in and I know I was really lucky it didn’t bite through the line.
@CarolPW: Thanks, that’s what we are getting here.
Just wanted to check in from eastern PA about ballots. I received my mail in ballot yesterday, after receiving an email on Monday (6 Oct) saying that I would receive it in “10 to 14 days”. That tracks with my experience from the primaries, so hoping that it will be similar for many of the Keystoners here that have been saying they haven’t received their ballot yet.
Now to figure out if I’ll mail this, or go vote in person.
Michigan AG calls out Trump et al for their overt dog-whistling.
@beef: I’m also no expert, but it definitely looks green-screened to me.
@SiubhanDuinne: Try taking out the Africa references and it sounds like someone trolling the current administration.
I am not a dog, but tramadol flattened me.
@raven: Bailey used to get tramadol. Henry was on gabapentin after his ACL surgery. Gabapentin is supposed to be for nerve pain, I think.
@WaterGirl: Yes and UGA researchers didn’t find tramadol effective in dogs!
@debbie: Bailey hated tramadol. I think it either made him feel weird or it upset his tummy. So I only gave it to him on really bad days.
Despite tramadol’s popularity as an oral analgesic in veterinary medicine, experts have debated it’s efficacy for years. And a new study has added fuel to the fire.
Researchers at the University of Georgia found that tramadol was ineffective in relieving pain associated with osteoarthritis in dogs.
This is the Internet. Nobody knows that.
@raven: I asked my vet about that around the time of Henry’s ACL surgery. It’s apparently good for some kinds of pain, but not others.
@WaterGirl: I think we’ll back off.
Indeed. That also occurred to me.
I made one of my very occasional forays to Free Republic to check out their discussion of the recent poll numbers. While there are commenters claiming that the polls are all fake and part of the Soro’s plan to discourage real Americans from voting, there is also a very palpable sense of impending doom among the brethren. Quite a few have acknowledged that trump’s virus response and debate performance were disastrous.
There are many, many, many complaints from swing state denizens that they are seeing nonstop Biden ads and no trump ads whatsoever.
My favorite commenter knew exactly who is responsible for trump’s demise
Stupid people under 50 who were taught by “a beatnik sitting on a stool in front of a college class expounding on hating America”
Beatniks! Why do they hate America?
@WaterGirl: Weird isn’t it?
@raven: I know exactly what you are going thru, my friend. My boy, Buddy, passed in January. I keep looking for him in all his favorite spots.
I cry for all my late canine family members at least twice/month.
It is very hard saying goodby to them and living without them.
@raven: the firsts are the worst. The unrelenting nerve of time as it marches on without the ones we hold so dear. So sorry for the loss of your wee bonny companion
Our Chet the weinie dog is on gabapentin and we cut the dose in half in consult with the vet because he was stoned out of his gourd. He’s got some concerning spine stuff and seems to be aging really fast. But we’ll not let him suffer and so gabapentin till further notice. Good luck with Bohdi and his arm – I hope he gets relief.
Early voting in this county coming up….way I hear it I’m taking a folding chair for the line.
I have to download them into my computer from my phone. I’ll send the email as soon as I do.

@beef: In-focus foreground and out-of-focus background is typical for shooting at a numerically low f-stop (which actually means a larger aperture.) That’s called a narrow depth-of field. In bright light that isn’t always typical, but I don’t see anything wrong with that shot. Look at this photo, where the background, only inches away, is out of focus. Shot in mid-day sun, too.
@laura: It reminds me of when I got sober. I had never been in an airport where I didn’t go directly to the bar. Then there was the first birthday, holidays and all that jazz. As Buffett says “It just takes a while, just takes a while. . . “
(The vertical line forces you to look at the two sides separately.)
@raven: I took gabapentin for myself and was nearly catatonic after the first dose (as I recall, for shingles). I stopped. Maybe the dose is too high? Taking both together would be even more likely to cause extreme drowsiness.

The greatest Pittsburgh Pirate of this century. Of course, they got rid of him but he has always said he will always call Pittsburgh home. He does still have a home here and his wife is a local. When he left the Pirates, he wrote the most beautiful love letter to the city and his fans. I cried when I read it. I haven’t watched a baseball game since and probably never will.

I’ve seen several yards in our development with signs for our Lt Gov Dan Forest (R), who is running 20 points behind incumbent Gov Roy Cooper. Didn’t dawn on me that lots of Republicans can’t bear to have a Trump-Pence sign.
Forest has a slogan “Run, Forest, Run” which is a ripoff of the Tom Hanks movie where he played a slow but decent man, i.e. not a Republican.
Yes! Khizr Khan on Maddow. Didn’t realize HIPAA was his legal area of expertise – warned the presidents doctors that their obligation to report a public health issue could jeopardize their ability to practice.
@geg6: He seems like a good guy with a great sense of humor. And timing.
I liked the days when athletes could play for the team they loved and not get traded or whatever. They played with more heart, I think.
Sounds like this guy has a lot of heart.
Aww, love Olive and Mabel and Andrew!
And Kamala’s uncle, too!
@raven: Part of the deal with the gabapentin was that it was supposed to kind of keep them “out of it” because when Henry needed after ACL surgery was to just lie there and heal and not be getting up and trying to move around.
I wonder if that could be part of their thinking with the Bohdi, that he needs to be totally off whatever body part is injured?
@raven: I’m not a dog (allegedly) but I take both gabapentin and tramadol. Gabapentin is for nerve pain and I take tramadol for insomnia. It’s zero surprise poor Bodhi is knocked out. I would call the vet and request either a reduction or an alternative to both. Check if doggos can take baclofen.
@Martin: As in… if they don’t report as they are legally obligated, they could lose their medical license?
@Viva BrisVegas: You are correct. Bluefish are known as Tailors in your part of the world.

@Gin & Tonic: The tell that’s it’s a green screen is the trees moving in the upper right. It repeats about every 3 seconds. They weren’t even competent enough to film the background for the appropriate amount of time.
There’s also “jaggies” around Trump’s silhouettes that are characteristic of green shots, which you don’t get with a shallow depth field.
FWIW, it looks like the same exact outfit as yesterday, which was a little darker because he was in the shade.
I think Trump’s huge hands may indicate that it was shot with a wide-angle lengths that emphasizes forced perspective.
@beef: That’s green screened(or Photoshoped), the way you’d normally get something close in sharp focus and the background out of focus is to use a wide aperture on the lens. But the grass close to him should be more in focus if you do that, it’s all out of focus.
@Another Scott: If he did have a stroke previously, I wonder if he might look like that from the stroke.
I read a shitload of the comments, and the expert consensus (I know—Twitter) seems to be that it is green-screened. The background lawn doesn’t have the right kind of fuzzy depth of field. One person said the bushes moving in the background seem to be on a loop (movement in a little clump at the far right of the screen and a tiny bit right next to Trump’s left ear), but I couldn’t see well enough to confirm that.
I have no idea what it “means.” It’s just part of the crazy Kremlinology we’re doing these days.
Easier lift if you start from the premise that he was trying to get Biden infected. His behavior then isn’t shocking. Callous and utterly ruthless, yes. But what he did scans if he wanted to sicken Biden.
Trump gets away with what he does under the cover of the benefit of the doubt. Always. It’s how he got to where he is.
He’s as malevolent and calculating as he is stupid.
@geg6: You can upload them from your phone if you want. You just need to know where the photos are located on your phone.
Because they’re all 80+ now and spend the day watching Fox.
@lamh36: OK, that was awesome too!
@Jeffro: Your *dad* liked the Gettysburg speech? Holy crap, I gotta listen to it.
@Yutsano: We took him to a vet at the beach. Our vet was a bit concerned when I talked to him so I’ll hit him up in the am.@WaterGirl: It’s his front knee and there was no break. I’m carrying him around right now but that can’t last.
Gov. Whitmer’s sign language interpreter ain’t messing around.
@Mary G: Christ, I wish that were true here. I see Trump/Pence signs all over the dang place around here. Not a ton of them, it’s true (except for outside the right-wing newsletter’s office), but still, more than I’d like. Oh, well. Nice to hear that Biden *and* Hickenlooper are up by double digits – now we just need Diane Mitsch Bush to come through in CD-3!
@geg6: The greatest Pittsburgh Pirate of this century…
He used to kill my beloved Cubs whenever they played the Pirates. But I’m glad we’re on the same side this election season.
@raven: So what do they think is going on? If not a break, then a tear?
My eyes aren’t good enough to detect waving bushes on this iPad mini, but for the background to be that out of focus, the grounds would have to be larger than I think the WH actually is.
@SiubhanDuinne: Wow. I had not seen the photo, but that looks really off to me. Like someone added a cutout of Trump to the scene on the lawn.
This is good
Thanks! That’s about the right level for me.
I just got a robo call from Biden campaign in Missouri telling me they are handing out Biden/Harris signs (in my neck of the woods)! They will be in Warsaw on Friday. I haven’t seen any Biden signs around here, no surprise, but there isn’t a Biden campaign office here – but there is a Trump office, which I flip off every time I pass. I think if Trump didn’t have an office here we wouldn’t have very many Trump signs. My renter next door put a Trump sign in the yard. Not happy about it, but I’m not going to forbid it. He is on disability now (poor guy had some heart problems, and then found out he had skin cancer) and I guess he doesn’t think that Repubs would rip that money right out of his hands. I get so tired of folks here (in my area) who bitch about others getting “handouts” while they work hard and never got any help from the govt; it’s all I can do to not remind them that the government paid for their babies’ births, their education, etc. Now, I’ve been lucky that I never had to have food stamps or other kinds of relief, but many people I’ll never know paid taxes so I could have a K-12 education, and some scholarship and Pell Grant money for college, and I’m grateful for that. So I don’t begrudge paying taxes for education (I don’t have children) and I don’t begrudge folks getting help when they need it, or children getting food and medical care. I think we just don’t do enough to help others.
@Patricia Kayden: WTF?
@lamh36: That was wonderful, thanks.
@raven: I can’t stand up with tramadol! I’ll never take it again.
@Miss Bianca: yeah I know, right? I’m not getting my hopes up but for the past week or two, FroDad has sounded like someone who realizes it’s over, he’s been duped, both.
BUT…he’s still holding out for an R-majority Senate, so F him, politically speaking.

@beef: I’m late to the thread & also no expert but trump was not filmed on the white house lawn. His video is superimposed on a background of the White House – and not very well.
Check out some of the media shows where folks are blended into a background which is not where they are – it can be done so much better.
Trump has hopeless staff – in every area, not just at the top.
@SiubhanDuinne: Even if it isn’t faked, look how pale his hands are in the photo that Slate uses. If he didn’t use all that make up he’d look like he’s on death’s door with that skin color.
@raven: I’ve used tramadol on a cat and a dog (post surgery) and did not like it for them at all. Made each of them agitated, anxious, or act like they’re seeing things. Gabapentin is really different. I’m not a vet but here’s my understanding. I’ve read that gabapentin shouldn’t be used together with an opioid (like tramadol). My dog is taking lyrica which is a precursor to gabapentin, same action but much less is needed. The vet recommended / prescribed either one; says gabapentin has been more studied in dogs as to dosing. Their action as I understand it is that they interrupt nerve signals to the brain, so works on nerve pain, on epilepsy and on anxiety. (Originally developed and still used to prevent seizures for epilepsy. My partner has tried both for stenosis; he felt lyrica was preferable so we’re doing that.) When the dose was too high, my dog was a bit out of it, but I reduced the dose and he’s like his normal self but w/o pain (and w/o perhaps anxiety-caused panting). I think his pain/nerve pain in his head must be pretty severe, but this is working well for him. By well I mean he has good energy, appetite, loves meeting his human and dog friends, takes fairly long walks.
@raven: Condolences to you, your bride, and Bhodi. You gave Lil Bit the best, most devoted love and care in the world. So sorry raven.
@raven: I’m so sorry.
I don’t have my email linked to my phone. I’ll shoot you and email tomorrow and then just upload from the phone then. Thanks! Your memory is impressive. Loads better than mine. ?
Why, Professor Maynard Krebs is one of the pillars of our university.
I noticed that (the pale hands) on a different video from yesterday. Or Tuesday, I forget. But the squinty right eye and puffiness/droopiness on the right side of his face are the most obvious signs, to me, that something serious is wrong. Side effect of the meds? Stroke? I dunno, but it’s a terrible look.
It’s like he’s dissembling before our eyes.
@Ceci n est pas mon nym: maybe it’s a county thing? I’m in Dauphin Co – which has about half the population that Delaware Co has, so presumably less ballots to process and send (?).
@geg6: Yeah, I’m glad that even though the Bucos let him go, we kept him in PA. Great player and great human!
@Barbara: I got put on Gabapentin a few weeks ago, I’m fine with it now, but that first day, I suddenly and with no warning got high as a kite for several hours. Among other symptoms, I was literally not able to read and understand what I was reading. Freaked me the hell out.
@beef: (I didn’t listen to it.) People are making a big deal about the lighting and shadows, but it’s extremely common for photographers and videographers to use white or reflective panels (outside the field of view) to change the lighting on a subject.
@Another Scott: The only way you’d get that effect is a really fast lens, then you actually get a portion of the subject out of focus(people have depth).
ETA: I’ve run into this problem photographing flowers, one part is in focus and even less than an inch away it’s a bit out of focus. Since I’m shooting with a cropped sensor, I’m not shooting with that fast a lens.
@?BillinGlendaleCA: I don’t know the details, but it doesn’t make sense to me for it to be fake. If he can stand up like that and do his accordion exercises with such vigor, why couldn’t he just walk outside?
Wait. WUT? Y’all have Nando’s in the US now? That’s a good thing!
@lamh36: I am a huge fan of sf and moved here in 1995…that said it’s my hellscape home right now…none of my fun is open…live music, restaurants, museums, even public parks and beaches if folks are acting the fool…even walking neighborhoods isn’t fun, especially with smoke we have had…54% of store fronts are boarded up…way more homeless and worse off…15% vacancy in my building…never more than 1% pre-covid…don’t see much fun here right now
@ExpatDanBKK: Only in Chicago and the DC area right now. They are in Canada, too.
There’s another chain that has peri-peri chicken, called Port of Peri-peri. They seem to me to be about the same as Nando’s.
In SF, the DeYoung Museum and the Legion of Honor are open. I’m planning to go to the Frieda Kahlo exhibit at the DeYoung next month. They are limiting admission so I’m going on Member Wednesday.
@CarolPW: My doc gave me gabapentin for neuro pain once (from a lumbar disc issue). It just made me stupid, without touching the pain. The tramadol worked better, but wasn’t great either. What worked best was the thing I expected not to work at all: acupuncture.
