I realized that with the SCOTUS hearings today, it probably makes more sense to do more Senate stuff today. Here’s some races I like:
Barbara Bollier, Kansas Senate
Mike Espy, Mississippi Senate
Alan Gross, Alaska Senate
Raphael Warnock, Georgia Senate (special election)
You can see all our candidates here.
Update. Adding Gary Peters because he’s in a tough race and told a heartbreaking story about access to reproductive rights. He’s a great Senator
Gary Peters, Michigan
JPL
Doug, Consider Gary Peters because his race his way to close. We need that. He shared some heartbreaking personal news about abortion also. link

If I have 20 dollar I want to contribute which race is the best bang for the buck?
PPCLI
@JPL:
I agree about Peters. He is ahead, but it’s not a comfortable lead by any means. The Koch bros and the usual gamut of RWNJ organizations are bombarding TV with negative ads — they have clearly targeted this one.
WaterGirl
@JPL: I put a link to Gary Peters in the election Action thread yesterday after RalfW included the tweet below in that thread. Tweet from Chris Murphy but retweeted by Brian Schatz.
We raised $895 for him on BJ yesterday, but I agree that’s an important race. Just my opinion – DougJ is the fundraising guru! We hit $5,000 for him and the original goal was 2,500. Maybe we can double it again. :-)
DougJ
@WaterGirl:
Added him
JPL
@WaterGirl: Well I did not see that and it just adds to my hatred of Mitch.
WaterGirl
@Martin: Could not agree more. There are so many people that could apply to – which one are you thinking of at the moment?
WaterGirl
@DougJ: Just saw that!
WaterGirl
@JPL: They don’t even care about putting their colleagues lives at risk. These fuckers need to burn.
Martin
@WaterGirl: All of them.
JPL
Cool I added a little, but if you have him up at the end of the week, I’ll add more.
CaseyL
Finances are tight, but I did kick in a few smackers for Gary Peters.
WaterGirl
@JPL: if you see me in any thread, I can put up the BJ thermometer for him any time, just let me know.
That goes for everyone. DougJ was nice enough to put all the thermometers in one place, so it just takes me a second to copy one in to any thread on request.

I home a Democrat asks Amy what she thought of Mitch’s refusal to hold hearings on Obama’s SC nominee.

Jackals : please, please ,please proofread. “To” is not the same as “too” which is not the same as “two”. Those are not difficult concepts. Please don’t phuck them up.
I do not have Amir breathing down my neck every day (of course not, he doesn’t do that) so I screw up a lot. But “too”, “to” ,”two” is not nuclear physics.
Also too I fell into the Oxford comma trap. Stupid me.
WaterGirl
@Sab: Sometimes autocorrect changes it to the WRONG one, so that may be part of what is going on for everyone.
Eric S.
I hit up Peters for $25. MI is a neighboring state and we do business there.
jeffreyw
@Sab:
For me it’s “unique” with any modifier. Very unique, most unique, etc.
I press my lips together really hard for a second and then I’m okay again.
frosty
@Tommy the antifascist: I understand that money goes farther in Alaska than anywhere else.
Sab
@WaterGirl: I believe that. Steeplechase told me how to fix that a long time ago. Special place in my heart for him ever since.
I should have a special place in my heart for you.
I do have. Just haven’t admitted it yet.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@Sab: I don’t understand what you’re referring too.
Jimmm
Is there any chance we can get a single actblue campaign page with all of these races?
Interestingly, my credit card had a hold put on it after 15 or 20 of these small dollar charges to the same place. They assumed it was fraud.
JPL
@Sab: Found it.. Thanks. Actually that makes me cringe.
WaterGirl
@Sab: It will be our secret.
I love autocorrect. Except for when i don’t.
WaterGirl
@JPL: I am most likely to screw up spelling or grammar when I am feeling emotional. You were writing about something that touched you, so I’ll go with that as the reason. Would you like me to add the extra o?
brantl
@Sab: You really should have something better to do, than worry about to, too, and two.
japa21
@WaterGirl:
I see what you did there.
JPL
@WaterGirl: nope.. I have the extra O on my heart. BTW did you see my previous comment earlier that my son wore his RBG shirt to vote. Not a word was said by anyone.
rikyrah
There go two miscreants
I put in some for Espy, Gross, and Peters.
JPL
In GA 100,000 have signed up volunteering free rides to the polls. There are no numbers yet, but turnout is high.
zhena gogolia
@rikyrah:
Yeah. I mean the specter of Bernie rises up before me.
WaterGirl
@JPL: No, I did not see that. Love that he wore it. Surely a supreme court justice should not be seen as political.
zhena gogolia
I think about those Black SC voters every single day. Thank you.
Squid696
Two votes for Democrats in Texas today. My wife and I dropped off our absentee ballots at NRG stadium today. It felt damn good.
Barbara
The thing about some of these polls regarding Peters is that they don’t seem to be pushing so-called undecided voters. It’s unusual for the combined sample being polled to add up to less than 90% of voters this close to the election. My only point is that polling data that adds up to more than 87% of voters (which is what the latest super close NYT poll did) seems to be more favorable to Peters. I kicked in some additional scratch for him nonetheless.
thruppence
Just dropped off two ballots, mine and my mother’s. She’s ninety and has mobility issues, but she has fire in her vote.
James E Powell
Okay, I dropped $100 on Peters. It’s a lot to ask of an Ohio State Buckeye. The fact that he didn’t go to UM made it a little easier. That’s my last $100 this cycle because I don’t get paid again till November 5th.
Wishing him and all the Ds way more than good luck.
narya
I am looking forward to being able to add my nym to the I Voted list this week . . . I’m off on Friday anyway, so might wander by and see what the line looks like (hopefully no line). Also: will swing by the hardware store to get the last thing I need to install (two hooks) before I submit the Kitchen/After pics!
WaterGirl
@thruppence: If you guys post in the I Voted! thread (link in the sidebar) you get a sticker! :-)
WaterGirl
@narya: I had been wondering why I hadn’t heard from you. I hoped it wasn’t that you were disappointed with your tile once it was installed.
Jeffro
@rikyrah: amen and amen!
Not sure if y’all have seen the Biden & Co ad that cuts snippets of trumpov speeches (a la the fake ad the Repubs put up with Dr. Fauci) in order to “apologize” to Fauci? Holy cow this media team is GOOD!

Amy C. Barrett says that the courts are
She can live with being part of injustice – to people needing health care, to voters, to employees, to consumers, to individuals leading their own private lives. It’s not her job to right the wrongs of society.
She will work for “liberty and justice for all.”
Or not.
Kathleen
I’m watching Biden’s live feed from Union Terminal in Cincinnati. I can see it from my house! He started his speech by acknowledging Joe Morgan’s death.
?BillinGlendaleCA
@WaterGirl: Sticker, what sticker, I voted and I didn’t get a sticker!
WaterGirl
@?BillinGlendaleCA: rut roh! That has now been remedied! :-)

Uncle Cosmo
@?BillinGlendaleCA: The sticker I want has a mugshot of Orangecandyass with the crossout circle&bar over it & reads
but no one’s making them (yet).
BTW anyone got a link to that Biden ad about Fauci?

@BC in Illinois:
It’s her job to stop us from righting those wrongs!
japa21
@?BillinGlendaleCA: Just finished my online retraining for being an election judge and it covered all the covid safety guidelines. 2 things of note.
WaterGirl
@James E Powell: Thanks for that. He is one of the good guys.
WaterGirl
@Tommy the antifascist: I think I would go for the emotional connection. I don’t know what that would be for you, but for me I think it would be Raphael Warnock in Georgia because of his connection to MLK and to Rep. John Lewis.
hueyplong
@japa21: In NC we won’t get stickers, but supposedly we’ll get to keep the pens with which we voted.
WaterGirl
@JPL: I see that DougJ did make the goal 10,000. Gary Peters was at 5,000 earlier today, and now he’s at 8,300.
You speaking up today and RalfW speaking up yesterday led to over 4,000 in donations for Gary Peters. Well done you guys, and well done everyone who donated to him.
And DougJ!
I hope we can make it to 10k.
grandpa john
Latest poll NC senate,
survey USA has Cunningham up by 10 ,so he seems to be overecoming his screw up
?BillinGlendaleCA
@japa21: Since California is primarily vote by mail now, we got a sticker with our ballots.
Baud
@grandpa john:
You can delete the “up.”
?BillinGlendaleCA
@Baud: Right, there’s no up in space.
Mai Naem mobile
I was driving behind a suburban kind of vehicle a couple of weeks ago that had a ‘TRIUMPH’ bumper sticker with the ‘i’and ‘h’ added. I am assuming they’re not trying to hide it anymore and it really refers to “Triumph of the Will.” If they don’t know the connotation to a Donny like candidate then they’re stupid.
JPL
@WaterGirl: Good. It’s such an important story to tell, because some think that wouldn’t happen here. He was lucky that she was able to transfer to another hospital. Others aren’t so lucky.
JPL
@JPL: Even in the olden days, it was not an issue about choosing between your wife and a child, except for Catholics who had to sign forms. Yup don’t save me, save the child forms.
Immanentize
@Mai Naem mobile: Favorite bumper sticker from 1992 — someone had cut the two candidate stickers apart and had on their car:
GEORGE
CLINTON

Chipped in $25 for Gary Peters. We really, really, really need to take the Senate (and nuke the filibuster, but you already knew that…)
James E Powell
@Barbara:
They might be pushing. The response is listed as “don’t know/refused” rather than undecided
And they report that they are 97% either almost certain (63%) or very likely (24%) to vote or already voted (10%). I submit that people who have decided that they will vote know for whom they are going to vote. They might not want to tell a stranger on the phone.
Dan B
@rikyrah: Yes, black women in SC! Too many young white guys loved Bernie and despised Biden. I’m glad we didn’t get two angry guys. Imagine that debate.
James E Powell
@rikyrah:
South Carolinian Bakari Sellers was asked in an interview, who decides who the Democratic nominee will be? He answered, “My mom and all her friends.”
Elizabelle
In for Gary Peters and Al Gross.
I love doing these small donations when you put the asks up. Excellent candidates, and I hope they win.
If anyone knows how we can do some phone calling for Gary Peters, I would appreciate that. Will also look into it on my own.

@frosty: thank you

I wonder if the militia jackasses’ foiled plot against Governor Whitmer will decide some more voters for the Democrats.
It surprised me to learn that some of the plotters were photographed during the intimidation protests at the state capitol earlier this year. Somehow, I thought they would stay under the radar. But, no.
Who knows. That might be where their paths crossed the informant or the FBI.
mali muso
I’m in for another $25 for Gary Peters. Just read that recent polling only has him up by 1 point. We need to keep that seat. And he should be rewarded for being so achingly honest about abortion.
Another Scott
@mali muso: I’ve donated as well. We need to keep our incumbents and throw the monsters out.

HTH.
Cheers,

Glad I’m dvr’ing this because I came back late, but was able to rewind to the beginning of Sheldon’s questions. Yay!
