OTOH, Usually I get to a thread when it is nearly or completely dead, so this is a plus. Now if we can only figure out something to talk about other than where in the thread on nothing but that topic we are placed, we could say something.
FWIW, I have not seen Twitter fans saying anything much besides dissing the skeptics. And the skeptics are mostly Republicans though a few of those I read are blaming Bernie and I can’t figure out whether that is fair or not because I don’t have time to watch lots of video of the hearings.

I’m shooting for 49. I’m going to bed now.
I’ll check in the morning to see if I made it.
I mentioned in a previous dead thread that Sept-Oct-Nov-Dec (7-8-9-10) are all misplaced because the Caesars wanted warm months for July & August so they just the others back 2. The Roman equivalent of MOTU.
@Another Scott: from what I’ve read, she’s simply not afraid to label stupid as stupid and if a politician has done something stupid (which happens fairly often) then she points that out. Hence, there’s plenty of ammunition or whetstones to grind specific axes. It used to be a trait that was admired, plain-spokeness, I guess it’s been fulsomely replaced by catty and disingenuous.

Ooo, an open thread! Today’s “Background Briefing”, Ian Masters’ show on KPFK was really good, (aside from the fundraising, which isn’t in the online versions.) There are interviews with three peeps, this one being the last.
Adam Jentleson, the Executive Director of the Battle Born Collective and the former deputy chief of staff to Senator Harry Reid who joins us to discuss his new book, just out, Kill Switch: The Rise of the Modern Senate and the Crippling of American Democracy. We discuss how Biden has only two years to get things done and unless the Democrats get rid of the filibuster, the Republicans will sabotage any progress and regain the House and Senate in 2022.
Good, if maddening stuff. BTW, the Adam Jentleson interview is just under 24 minutes in length.

Like all these traits, it’s interpreted depending on who has it. Only white men get to be plain spoken, tell it like it is, and refuse to soften the truth. Women and minorities are rude, disrespectful, or insulting, unless they’re uppity and don’t know their place.

We are mere Muggles and will remain such, until one of us gets comment 9 3/4.
Got a left-over vaccine today, and I am positively giddy. But also feeling guilty, an acquaintance of mine was in the same lottery, and her name didn’t get pulled.
The U.S. military says that it has carried out strikes against Iranian-backed militias in Syria in retaliation for a rocket attack on Erbil Airport in northern Iraq last week. That attack, which the War Zonereported on at the time, killed a contractor working for the U.S.-led coalition fighting ISIS in Iraq and Syria and injured a U.S. military serviceperson, among other casualties. This would appear to be the first American strike on Iranian-supported groups in the region under President Joe Biden.
While I’m tired of our little ME adventure, and I feel it’s really unnecessary for us to be there at this point, I’m glad Biden isn’t putting up with any shit.

@Ajabu: Yes, July and August are named for Julius Caesar and Augustus Caesar. Hadn’t heard that they had wanted warm weather months. I personally would have gone for May or June, but obviously, YMMV. I remember how interesting I found it as someone in HS that the Sept => Dec months had numerical meanings, and that they were all off by 2 because of the ego of the Caesars. When you are a kid you just accept things like the months and I didn’t wonder where they came from. The first hint that there were fun facts everywhere in history :-)
The Prisoner. Number 6. The village. “I am not a number. I am a free man.” That was one strange TV show with Patric McGoohan. I loved it. Found the Village in Sun Valley in 1969 at the Inn. There were balloons that captured the recalcitrant and enforced order.
