I just got back from Death Valley, a photographer’s paradise.
Here are some iPhone shots I got. The good light lasted about 3 minutes before the clouds rolled in, and then made a brief 30 second return 20 minutes later. If you go, be walking into the dunes as soon as there is enough light to navigate.

The good light makes a partial return between a break in clouds.

Very cool pix! The second one looks almost like it’s tiled.

I went to Death Valley a few times as a wee tike, but haven’t been back since. Madame wants to go. I’ve got pics of me sitting on those sand dunes.

Beautiful!

The light in that third shot is mwah {chef’s kiss}. Very painterly, as are several of the others. Thanks for getting up that early there so I didn’t have to!

Sand dunes are a real work of art. A photographer friend of mine traveled to Namibia and photographed the sand dunes there. Just awesome!

@Mary G: Yes, methinks Ms O’Keeffe would have been very proud to call that hers
ETA – Thanks, Tom V!

Went camping in Death Valley once, and got rained on. As I recall, thus was in March, so sometime in late winter/early spring.

Ms O’Keefe is giving her quarter-smile and nod. Well done indeed.

“Oh, yes. I forgot to tell you. The spice exists on only one planet in the entire universe. A desolate, dry planet with vast deserts. Hidden away within the rocks of these deserts are a people known as the Fremen, who have long held a prophecy that a man would come, a messiah, who would lead them to true freedom. The planet is Arrakis, also known as Dune.”
This is actually a high compliment, as you can see the dryness that evokes the deepest dunes of the Sahara. Beautiful pics!

Very nice. Haven’t been to DV since a college field trip, which was…some time ago. Ready to go back.

Great photos. The colors, the compositions, the textures, the fragility of the dunes… Thanks for sharing!

@Unique uid: Iphone Xs. Shots are mostly full-frame except a 2 degree roll to right because I can’t hold the phone straight. Only post-processing was the Apple Photos “Auto Enhance” on some of them.

Thank you for showing us these beautiful shots. I love the desert. I used to live in the desert but now I don’t. I want to go back to the desert even more now after seeing these lovely pictures.
Thanks again.
