The reason I know the Biden infrastructure plan is immensely popular is that the GOP has preferred to declare war on the national pastime.

Disappointed @MLB will move the All-Star Game, but proud of their stance on voting rights. GA GOP traded economic opportunity for suppression. On behalf of PoC targeted by #SB202 to lose votes + now wages, I urge events & productions to come & speak out or stay & fight. #gapol

the game wasn’t relocated out of atlanta. the stadium is in unincorporated cobb county because the braves did not want their exurban fans to have to go into atlanta, for reasons i am sure you can figure out. https://t.co/AWw2ke8RYf

— Peloton InfoSec Analyst (Incident Response) (@CalmSporting) April 2, 2021

For people upset about sports applying political pressure on states, it appears they’ve forgotten the only reason Atlanta even *has* a baseball team is because in 1965 the city agreed to integrate seating at Fulton County Stadium as a condition for the Milwaukee Braves to move.

Easy for the GOP to come out against MLB; Texas & Florida have two teams each, but the only other state of the Confederacy w a team is Georgia

there are lots of bad provisions in the Georgia election law but not enough people are focusing on the fact that IT LITERALLY GIVES THE STATE LEGISLATURE THE POWER TO SEIZE CONTROL OF COUNTY ELECTION BOARDS AND OVERTURN ELECTION RESULTS!!!

Essentially he said that there’s no difference between Dems/Republicans, they’re both just making us hate each other for power/profit. Glad he’s giving this 20 year old “hot take” now. I do believe he was a Republican until Obama ran, on the reasonable if not admirable grounds that they’re the party of rich people and he’s a rich people.

The trouble with this is the timing and useful idiocy of it. He’s being retweeted by a lot of MAGA people for saying that, as they read it, Democrats are the Real Racists, and by a few Roses for saying the Republicans and Democrats are exactly alike.

I saw Kareem on Celebrity Jeopardy years ago – first time I realized how smart he was. And that’s also when I realized that people who mistake actors for the characters they play should be shut in a room until they’ve watched 100 eps or so of Celebrity Jeopardy. That actor that plays an egghead genius on TV? Turns out to be a ROCK. The episode I watched had Kareem up against Mclean Stevenson and Teri Ferrel, and he mopped the floor with them.

Then maybe she wouldn’t mistake a game show host for a guy who actually knows how to do stuff.

He’s being picky with his definitions.  From what we know so far, Gaetz is a john who paid for girls to cross state lines, not a pimp or trafficker.  He meets the Mann Act definition, though, which is what matters.

@Leto: Barkley is a Republican who has been disenchanted with Republicans for a long time.  It’s not surprising to find out he was already disenchanted with Democrats and that’s why he became a Republican in the first place.

Google is not my friend. I tried to learn whether the Mann Act had been repealed or not. The reason I wondered is the MSM has been talking about the alleged 17-year-old girl and “underage,” as though that matters. If I understand it, age does not matter. The Mann Act makes it a felony for a man to transport a woman across state lines for sex. Doesn’t matter if he pays her, doesn’t matter how old she is, if she says she had sex with him he’s toast and she’s not in jeopardy, except maybe her reputation. I would be glad for any correction(s) of my misunderstanding.

How do you get on Google and miss Wikipedia? That should be your first stop. Correct your misunderstandings here.

Most recently, in 1986, the Mann Act was significantly altered to make the whole Act gender neutral and to redress the specific ambiguous phrasing that had enabled decades of unjust applications of the Act. With the 1986 amendments, the Mann Act outlaws interstate or foreign transport of “any person” for purposes of “any sexual activity for which any person can be charged with a criminal offense.”
