I’m getting the shot this afternoon. One and done for me.
Stick me with a random sticker.
ETA: 1?! I want to cry.

T-minus 2 hours for me. Where is the “I got the chip” Bill Gates sticker?
And why does a chip need two shots?

Got Pfizer 1 and 2 at a NYS site mid-February and first week of March, respectively. I felt so grateful that I started to volunteer at local vaccine clinics doing flow control and watching over the 15- and 30-minute wait area. It was so hopeful to see so many folks get their second shots!
Ducklings sticker please!
ChuckInAustin
2nd dose of funky cold Moderna. Lily please
They Call Me Blue
My widet and I both got #1 of 2 on Friday (Moderna). We were a bit tired on Saturday but bounced back on Sunday.
We had a really good experience at county-run drive through vaccination site, it really was run about as efficiently as it could have been. Signups are still too difficult but with demand still outstripping supply that’s to be expected.
Having a terrible time with the comment editor on my Android device though…

shot#2 tomorrow… fingers crossed I’ve stayed clean until the moment…

Got Moderna #1!
I think a Baby Champ for me please!
So relieved to be a half-vaxxer; one step closer.

Here in SW Washington state, I got my second Pfizer shot on Saturday at a drive-thru event set up by the county health department at the local community college. All well organized, which makes up for the disorganized scramble for appointments in previous months. A little arm soreness, but otherwise no reaction. Now I’m making the low-grade medical appointments that I’ve put off for the last year. Surprise me with a sticker, if you feel I need one.

AntiquaModerna #2: Pandemic Bugaloo in the right upper arm at 5 PM Wholly Saturday, almost zackly 4 weeks to the minute from Jab The First. Delivered by an MD from Nigeria, a very deft touch with the needle. Sore arm that evening but otherwise fine. Sorer arm next morning & by the time I reached my brother’s for Easter supper I was starting to fade; crashed on his couch for a coupla hrs after the best feed I’ve had in at least two years; shaky driving home. Feeling more animated now…but the arm still hurts (& is in fact perceptibly larger than the other). Be fine by the weekend.May I pleez have a re-preez of President Uncle Joe behind the wheel? (BTW loved the cartoon down below with POTUS as FDR in a Presidental jalopy!)

2nd Pfizer Saturday. Out of gas and miserable Sunday. Al work after extra sleep Monday.
President Biden, please.
WaterGirl
@Poe Larity: We are all out of the I Got the Chip stickers!
Great idea, though.
Ukko
Where do these stickers appear? I would like Lilly myself, having just gotten my second jab.
WaterGirl
@Ukko: I make the stickers appear, using my magic powers.
Reboot
Second Moderna on Saturday, lots of sleeping on Sunday, feeling great today! I can’t decide between Tikka or Rosie and Thurston.
Don K
Got second Moderna Saturday. Yesterday had the expected muscle pain at the injection site and was incredibly tired all day with a few miscellaneous muscle aches. This morning woke up still groggy, but have felt better all day. Actually easier than the first. That one had me napping multiple times Sunday, whereas yesterday I just took my accustomed one nap and otherwise gutted it out.
Feels good to have it done. Now I just have to wait a couple of weeks and I’ll be so ready to go out to eat.
Steve please, or else Tikka (I have a fondness for puddytats).
Mj_Oregon
Got my 2nd shot 3 hours ago. First trip to a plant nursery in 2 years is penciled in for April 19th. The sun is out and my daffodils are at peak bloom. Couldn’t ask for a better Monday!
May I have Steve please for my sticker?
frosty
I don’t got the shot, but we have appointments for Moderna #2 at Rite Aid in 29 Palms on Friday, 4 weeks and a day since #1 in Mississippi.
Potential complications: The website only let you sign up for #1 and it’s supposed to be for California residents. I figure we’ll show up and I’ll have a chance to make my case.
guachi
I want, like, 10 shots just so I can do all the cute pet pics justice!
AnthroBabe
Got two shots of Moderna in Feb-March. I would like the Steve sticker :)
WaterGirl
@guachi: Have you gotten a shot? Or two?
TheOtherHank
I got the J&J one and done last Saturday at the Oakland Coliseum.
doggy with frisbee, please
WaterGirl
@frosty: You get Penelope for good luck!
edit: if you go to a pharmacy that is part of the federal program, they may be less likely to care about what state you are from?
Galento
Got my first Pfizer shot in Cook County IL today, at the Forest Park site. Chicago resident but could not ever find appointments in the Chicago system, since they are running behind most counties and the state. But I was also allowed to try in Cook County, and their system was easy to navigate and clearly showed when new blocks of appointments became available. I got one after five days of trying.
Last week I was moaning and gnashing teeth and would definitely have asked for a WTF sticker. It does feel good to have finally started the process. May I please have a Badger sticker?
pacem appellant
Got Pfizer no. 1 on Tuesday. My arm was sore for days. I’m left-handed, and they gave it to me through the driver’s side window, so I was unable to do work until I remembered icy-hot and ibuprofen exist. Baby Champ is cute! I’ll take that one!
Darkrose
Just got home from second Moderna. Sac Kaiser was as efficient as before and I was in and out with no trouble. My arm is a little sore already, but otherwise I’m fine; I have tomorrow and Wednesday scheduled off if I need them.
May I have a Steve sticker please? Thanks!
Redshift
Woo-hoo, got my appointment for next Monday!
Redshift
After being very unimpressed with the various pharmacy appointment systems, I am pretty pleased with my county system. Signed up, got a confirmation. Got two weekly notices that I was still in the system. Got “you can sign up now” today with a short list of locations, and scheduled one near me without any trouble
PaulB
I became eligible in Washington state last Wednesday. Naturally, there were no appointments on Wednesday or Thursday (I had to check half a dozen sites to make sure that I had adequately covered the opportunities). On Friday, I found an opening on the 8th at a rural clinic an hour away. I debated whether to take it and ultimately decided that I just couldn’t be one of those people, so I didn’t move forward.
A few hours later, a local clinic that I apparently signed up for a while ago, long enough ago that I didn’t remember doing so, told me that my time had come and that I could sign up for an appointment the following day. On Saturday, I got the first dose of the Moderna shot. I guess my virtue was rewarded.
WaterGirl
@Redshift: Just one more week!
adepsis
I forgot to do this when I got my first a couple of weeks ago. It was Moderna so can I still get a Dolly Parton, please?
greenergood
Here in rural west of Scotland got my first Astra-Z on 1 March; Mr GreenerG got his two weeks later. We now wait – probably late April or early May. Don’t need stamps but an update new pic of the lovely Champ would be welcome (and ANY pics of Tamara’s Gabe and Cole’s Steve). Still in lockdown here so craving for cat pics is acute … ;-)

Moderna dose #1 yesterday afternoon. Quick and easy at CVS.
Chills and fever (102F) most of today. (I had Covid-19 last September.)
Samwise sticker for me, please.
What Have The Romans Ever Done for Us?
Whose got two thumbs and one shot of Pfizer in him? ?? This guy, as of noon today!

My husband and I both got our 2nd Pfizer shots this past Friday! I’m so, so grateful. I say a prayer for Joe Biden every day (despite religion really disappointing me in my middle years). So Ol’ Handsome Joe in his ‘vette for me, please. God love him.
UncleEbeneezer
@Darkrose: Yay!!! Thank you for doing the right thing.

@adepsis: There is no statute of limitations on Dolly or stickers! :-)

@greenergood: I found some pictures of Steve in the archives, maybe that will help?
I also sent a note to Tom wondering if he has any Champ and Tikka photos for us.

@greenergood: Check out comment #37 above.

I’m late and usually a lurker and I can’t recall if I’ve done this or not.
My husband got his second shot two weeks ago, so he’s moving into the fully vaccinated category. My first shot was a week ago and last Friday we got my son his first shot. I was sure he would have to wait until June, but we heard there were open appointments in the Eastern Shore and took a quick road trip.
I cried about each one, happy tears. I hadn’t realized how much worry I was carrying until I didn’t have to carry it any more.

I commented on #6, but I’ll say it again:
I got my first shot of Pfizer on Saturday. So far, I had a pretty sore arm on the day; the next day much less sore (like a couple of days after a pulled muscle sore), but I had a couple of short bouts of vertigo. Today was pretty good, with no muscle soreness and only a tiny bit of trouble with balance if I turned around too quickly.
I highly recommend signing up for the v-safe check-in with the CDC.
May I have a Thank you, Dolly sticker?
Searcher
I got my first shot Saturday and I already feel like I “won” the pandemic, I beat the game, I went thirteen goddamn months without getting the damn thing and now I get to be done with it.
Still staying safe, still following all state & county guidelines, but it is such a relief.
rose weiss
I got my #2 Moderna last Friday. I live in a fairly rural county in coastal Oregon with dysfunctional public systems, so I had to drive an hour up 101 for both shots but at least the scenery on the way is beautiful. I felt awful on Sat. although no fever, slightly better yesterday, and back to normal today. I’d like the ducklings please!
greenergood
@WaterGirl: ohmergawd that belleh!! Thank you Watergirl- you’ve brightened my early Tuesday morning!!
WaterGirl
@Nina: I don’t think I have seen your name in any of the “shot” threads, and I don’t recall your story, either.
Congratulations to all of you! April is much better than June!
WaterGirl
@greenergood: Oh, good!

Just back from Pfizer shot #2! Feeling relieved and grateful for science. Can I have a Joe sticker? It’s a BFD! :)
WaterGirl
@mali muso: We missed our opportunity – instead of Got the Shots, the Biden sticker should have said Biden Shots – a BFD!
mali muso
@WaterGirl:
Oh well, I am sure that there will be many more opportunities to use the BFD label during this administration.

#1 done! I’ll take a Dolly! Phew, I can’t believe there might be something like an end in sight.
Origuy
Reposted from the last “I Got the Shot” since I got missed.
Got Pfizer #1 at Levi’s Stadium today. Very smooth operation, good signage, lots of helpful volunteers. The vaccination and observation area was in the stadium’s main lounge, too bad the bar wasn’t open. Stopped at Krispy Kreme for my free donut, the first donut I’ve had since July and I went on Keto. I figured that was a good reason to cheat.
Can I have a sticker of Badger, please? To go with my real one with the Levi’s logo.
WaterGirl
@Origuy: Thanks for speaking up! I had missed the last 3 people who posted on the previous thread. I remedied that just now.
How was the donut? I remember having soda for the first time in a year or two and I was shocked by how terrible it tasted!

Tried to sign up for a vaccine on the state site as soon as New York opened them up to everyone 30 and up. Site told me I wasn’t eligible. Did I try to sign up too early? Website not updated quickly enough? IDK. Looked closely at the list of health reasons that would make you eligible. Turns out I could have signed up for a vaccine much earlier! Thanks, obesity? **awkward smile & hesitant thumbs up**
Signed up that day for a vaccine appointment this weekend at a site about 2 hours drive away. A day or 2 later, I find out the counties have separate websites to sign up for a vaccine. Easily got an appointment closer and sooner!
Received my Pfizer dose #1 on April 6th at a local community college. Very impressed with the whole process. Good signage from the parking lot to the room where vaccines were given. Short wait to sign in and short wait for a vaccine station to open up, but it was relatively efficient.
Barely felt the shot. Felt tired that day, and had a soreness in my shoulder that has mostly gone away now. I even remembered to cancel my other appointment through the state website, so that someone else could have it.
Henry sticker, please!

@WaterGirl
The “I Got the Shot (all)” in the margin includes this thread, but the “I Got the Shot (latest thread)” links to thread #6 instead of #7.
WaterGirl
@no comment: That would explain why no one has posted anything in I Got the Shot! for the past couple of days. :-)
Thanks so much for letting me know!
Chris T.
I got mine tonight, early! So excited I had to post about it. :-) Went to a Rite Aid to get something, it was about 15 minutes to closing, and they had one left-over Pfizer shot. I’m just barely not in the current group and would have had to wait until April 15th, but because they had this leftover going begging, I got my first one.
(I don’t “do” stickers so there’s no point sending one, but if I did one, it would be baby champ)
Leslie
Got Pfizer #2 on Wednesday. Fewer symptoms than after the first shot, primarily fatigue and fuzzy-headedness. Feel pretty good this morning. I will have a Steve sticker, please and thank you.
WaterGirl
@Chris T.: Baby Champ insisted! But if you like, I can overrule champ and delete it. :-)
WindyCityCat
Wife and I got Pfizer #2 this week in Chicago. I had a headache for two days and some arm soreness but back to normal today, she had trouble falling asleep last night after getting the shot. I will also take a Steve sticker!
Elizabelle
Got my second Pfizer Monday. No side effects at all, save for mild discomfort at the injection site. For only 36-48 or so hours.
I am going to request both Rosie and Thurston, and Lily stickers.
Do not want to leave a Cole canine out. Love them all.
Jay
Got the shot, Moderna, @7:45 am today.
“Jumped” the queue because SWMBO is Metis, (Indigenous) and the Province is taking care of whole Indigenous households, other than kids and teens.
Thank you Dolly. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Chris T.
@WaterGirl: Is too cute, must not disturb Baby Champ!
RaflW
I got the second Pfizer yesterday. Felt basically fine the rest of the day, with mildly increasing arm pain. (FTR that and maybe a little fuzzy-headedness was basically all the side effects I had from #1.)
Pretty annoying headache over night, and slept 10.5 hours which is not typical for me. I have some chills and very mild nausea now. I am realizing that after not being sick a single day for 14 months (hey, masks and handwashing work), I’m like “what is happening” but of course I know and it should be over tomorrow.
Absolutely nothing in terms of side effects that would deter me from getting it again if needed as a booster some day. Totally worth the very minor inconvenience.
Yay, science!
I’ll go Dolly for the sticker, because she is just such a wonderful human being.
HumboldtBlue
I just got shot No. 1. Second on May 1.

I got the shot! I got Moderna #2!!!! Both on the road, both out of state. I can’t believe it worked!!! I’m crying with relief.
Thank you WG for the sticker of Penelope for luck the other day.
I’ll take Dolly, please.
Joy in FL
I had my first Moderna shot yesterday.
I am so grateful to the people who have made these sites happen all over our country. My site was in a huge parking area at a mostly dead mall about 5 miles from my house. Everything was so organized and smooth, and everyone was very professional. I am so relieved to have the first shot as well as an appointment for the second one.
My shot site is pretty sore and warm; if that’s all I have, I will be very happy.
I will enjoy a Baby Champ sticker, please, because I have a very cool Tuxedo cat named Hermes. and he will like that.
TJC
I got my second Pfizer shot today. The first one took me out for days with fatigue and crying. I’m hoping to have a better reaction but who knows.
Can I please have a Badger sticker?
lol chikinburd
First dose, Pfizer, yesterday afternoon, through employer. Arm still sore and immune system definitely knew that something had happened but nothing to cry about. Guess it’s Baby Champ.
topclimber
Had to travel 150 miles for it, but the ms. and I got round one of Pfizer last week. Back in late January, that was the only appointment we could get in upstate-ish NY.
I thought we were being ahead of the curve by scheduling early, but then that durn Joe Biden took over and there is vaccine everywhere. Well, not really. Appointments are still out to next month, so we were right to do what we did. Once the other members of the familial unit finish both doses sometime in early June, we might be in shape for a July 4/Fuck Covid celebration.
Samwise is a ringer for our feline, so send him please.
SteverinoCT
Number two Moderna last Thursday. Waited to see if any reaction, and no: same as first dose, nothing. Not complaining! My wife had a sore arm for both, and spent Friday on the couch with a 99.9degF temp and feeling a little off. Steve me, SVP!
MaryS-NJ
Hi All. I’m a (mostly) shy lurker here at Balloon-Juice but I think this is a great idea and want to share.
I traveled 3 hours round trip from my home to the vaccination center – the only place I could get an appointment at the time. It was supposed to be the J & J shot but the center never got it’s shipment so I got my first Moderna shot instead.
I had headache after the shot – but that could have been coincidental. But the day after, I had flu-like symptoms that lasted a day and a half; fever (100.8), body aches, headache, extremely tired and sleepy, nausea w/ no appetite and a sore arm at the injection site.
That was only my first shot but I wondered if my after-effects were stronger because I had Covid-19 in January.
I feel fine now, 10 days later and am scheduled for round 2 the end of April
.
May I have Kamala please?
Phylllis
Just got home from Moderna jab #2. Stopped at the fancy grocery store and treated myself to a Royale cookie. Trying to remember to move my arm around periodically, as I heard that helps alleviate the soreness. Please sticker me with OHJ in his rocking ‘Vette please.

Hello Juicers –
I got Pfizer #1 yesterday morning at a FEMA-run mass vax clinic in my area. It was an amazing display of competent government. I arrived by 9AM, and by 9:35 I had completed my 15 minute “adverse reaction wait” and was out the door.
My shot arm got fairly sore about 8-12 hours later, but it wasn’t anything I would describe as unbearable.
Today, I’ve had a persistent minor headache, and I honestly would have popped Excedrin and moved on with my day, but given competing information about whether one should or should not take NSAID’s lest they interfere with the body’s ability to mount an immune response…I’ve had a ton of water, and took a short mid-afternoon nap to get it out of my system.
Approaching almost 36 hours since The Jab, and my arm pain is almost totally gone, and my head is…a little irritating, but I otherwise feel fine. I expect to feel “normal” tomorrow morning.
I’m a 35 year old white dude in reasonably decent health, with no histories of any significant allergies, and no specific current underlying diseases I am aware of. Losing weight, but could lose more. Family histories of some things, but I am trying to beat them back before I encounter them (the Beetus, etc).
I fully expect Pfizer #2 to put me on my ass for a day or two, and I am likely going to take a day off of Working From Home to just Lie On The Couch, ha. We’ll see in about 3 weeks!
Samwise is an adorable kitty, so I’d like to have him appended to my post, please and thank you!
K488
2nd shot at 8:10 this morning; Ms K488 (K467) had her second a little over a week ago with mild symptoms. Now to see the kids in person in May!

I got Moderna #2 yesterday after a rainy walk to a drugstore on 57th Street. I was tired last night, but I think it was worse after shot #1 when I was just not capable of anything more demanding than lying in bed watching television. And I feel perfectly normal today — arm is a little sore, but again, I think it was worse with shot #1. (I did stretches and moved my arm around during my 15 minute wait, and that may have helped.)
I had Kamala for shot #1, so I’ll take Joe for #2, please.
Sister Machine Gun of Quiet Harmony
Just got my second Pfizer. I would like the Steve, please!
Soprano2
Got my 2nd Pfizer shot this morning. Yay!!! The woman who gave it to me said that last year in March she was retired when her physician son called and told her she needed to stop going places and seeing people. At first she thought he was overreacting; now she’s come out of retirement to give vaccine shots to people. I asked her if she had ever had the experience before of people being happy to get a shot, and she said “No!”. I want Steve 2 doses, please.
Redshift
First shot this afternoon, yay! I thanked everyone at the health department office; I get the sense not a lot of people are doing that. Not that they’re unpleasant, they’re just getting their shots, waiting, and then going.
Kamala, please!
The Lodger
Got my 2nd Pfizer last night at the Oregon Convention Center. Lots of walking through the rope line, but hardly any stopping and waiting. Like the previous visit, no real side effects other than tiredness.
Tikka please.
NeenerNeener
Just got my 2nd Moderna shot. I’m not looking forward to the side effects but I am looking forward to having a professional fix the mess I’ve made of my hair by cutting it myself.
As for stickers:
I…love…little baby ducks
But I’d also like to give Rosie and Thurston some love so I’ll take either.
Bufflars
De-lurking a bit late to say I got my 2nd Pfizer vaccine on April 10th. Did not really experience much of anything in the way of side effects – just some tenderness at the injection site. I’ll take a Steve sticker.
Catherine D.
Just got my second Moderna! I’d like Penelope, please.
eddie blake
just got the first shot. pfizer.
super disappointed my x-gene didn’t activate.
no super powers at all. maybe after shot #2?
Gravenstone
Moderna #2 in the bank. Darling Lily in memory of my grandparent’s beloved Taja of the same markings.
Bruce K in ATH-GR
One down (Pfizer), one to go. I had to travel almost halfway around the planet to do it, but given the current spike and vaccine situation where I normally hang my hat, I’d have to say it was worth it.
Feelin’ like an MVP shot sticker, so hopefully in three weeks I can get a Diamond Joe sticker, because I absolutely give Biden credit for my being able to come home for my shot. (Credit TFG? If no legitimate banks on Planet Earth are extending him credit, why should I?)
MisterForkbeard
I got my Moderna shot this morning, super happy about it. Since there’s no Kamala choice for getting the first shot only, can I get a Samwise, please? :)
Nora Lenderbee
First dose of Pfizer today, and second dose scheduled for May 4.
Kamala, please. Or Dolly. Heck, they’re all nice.
TerryTime
Shot #2 of “Funky Cold Moderna”. Thanks Dolly!
MizPurple
2nd Moderna done – thanks, Medical Center of the Rockies, for a well organized and executed operation.
Tikka please!
Yet Another Haldane
First dose of Moderna, woo-hoo!
Does “Three-hour drive from restive city into increasingly rural-red territory to get a free injection at a store called ‘Thrifty White'” sound like the rejected elevator pitch for a Jordan Peele script? (They were friendly and professional, and no elder gods appeared, so I guess it’s okay. And “Thrifty White” probably sounded better back in the day, at least to the target demographic.)
Samwise, please.
WaterGirl
@MisterForkbeard: It was a nice idea for the stickers to distinguish between shot #1 and shot #2, but this is Balloon Juice. So people are just picking the pics they want, screw the words.
So you get both. :-)
WaterGirl
@Bruce K in ATH-GR: Glad to know you are on the path to safety. Are you staying in the states for shot #2, and then heading back?
Bruce K in ATH-GR
@WaterGirl: Roughly speaking, yeah – there’s other business that needs to be tended to, like an MRI that’s a year overdue thanks to the lockdowns, and assisting my parents in decamping for their permanent move to Greece to spend their retirement years, which will keep me here for at least a month. A lot of my colleagues back in Athens are still waiting for slots to open up for them. I’m staggeringly fortunate to have had this chance.
WaterGirl
@Bruce K in ATH-GR: It’s so great when things work out.

There is a new I Got the Shot! thread up.
