Congratulations to all who have gotten at least one vaccination! We are over 50% of the adult population!
Tell me which stickers you want, so I can sticker you!
ruemara’s kitties, Odoroki (first two!) and Himesama:
Dr. Fauci and Nancy Smash:
Samwise, Baby Champ and Henry:
Just got home from getting my second dose. Yippee Ki Yay!
My little babies! About 6 more hours to get my shot & I’m so excited!
I’ll take a Dolly sticker. All done and just went past 2 weeks after the last shot. Yay!
I got my second pfizer yesterday.
I’d like my STEVE TWO DOSES DONE sticker, please.
@ruemara: Oh yay, rue! Very exciting. I’ll give you all your babies now, and you can come back for more stickers in a few hours!
Got my second Pfizer shot this morning! Making choo-choo motions with my shot arm to ward off discomfort. Working so far.
I’ll take a little black kitten and a Madam Veep. Nice combo.
I may be the origin of the error here, given what I posted when I got my first shot, but we’re actually over 50% of the adult population; it’s around 40% overall. Still a big milestone, though, given that under-16s still aren’t eligible (although they should be very soon).
@Steeplejack: I assume you meant Champ and not Mr. Bear, but let me know if that was wrong.
@randy khan: I clarified that up top, thanks!
I got the second shot this morning. Woof Woof!
who this ‘we’ kemo sabe? Sure ain’t in many red states.
Just got my second Moderna two hours ago. Would love to have joe and Steve, please!
I ???these threads
My #2 is not until tomorrow morning, so I’ll wait for your next pass.
Given vaccine supply, we can probably have our 73%* of adults fully vaxxed by end-of-May.
If I understand correctly, Pfizer has already submitted for its EUA for ages 12-15; Moderna is slotted to follow in mid-May for 12-17. We might well be vaccinating ages 12+ starting in July; at least High Schools could get back to ‘new normal’ for fall.
*Ahem. The 27% are crazy, stupid, &/or tribal Republicans.
(Penelope can keep you company while you wait. ~WG)
Vaccinated and inebriated. Wish both were true, but happy the the former actually is.
@catclub: I know, and it’s so unfair. Not to mention wrong. we need competent leaders who are not right-wing crazies.
Got Moderna #2 yesterday evening. May I please have Steve? I’ve got about 5 weeks to go before I see my daughter from San Diego for the first time in over a year.
@rikyrah: You are always so nice to say that!
@Chief Oshkosh: What sticker?
We’re both weeks after Pfizer 2. Tomorrow we’re having friends who are also post #2, well, he is 12 days but we’re not much risk because masking. But OMG WE HAVE TO CLEAN HOUSE!!!! Tired after 30 minutes and seems like there’s 14 hours of cleaning since we also redecorated, new stove*, veggie seeds starting, garden projects, etc. How did we manage with socializing and trips plus projects and socializing. It’s like being 12 months since the gym of life.
*Thank you economic rescue moolah!
Have had several stickers thanks. Throw a neglected one if need be.
Shot #2 done. I am Übermensch.
After shot #1, I felt slightly groggy for a few hours. Arm slightly sore.
After shot #2, no grogginess, no sore arm… nothing.
I want some mild side effects, dammit. I want to know this thing is working.
I hope ????
For the 12-17 year olds
Obvious Russian Troll
Ontario lowered the minimum age for general vaccination to 40 so my wife just got her first dose of AstraZeneca today. I am a year older so I was able to get my first dose a couple of weeks ago.
Now trying to figure out when we can get our second doses.
(Also, I have to go in for a colonoscopy in a couple of weeks. I’ve had one before so I know what to expect but I can’t say I’m looking forward to it.)
I got my second last week, as noted in a prior thread, but what floats my boat today is that my 20 y.o. son got his first (House Pfizer) yesterday, the first day on which he was eligible.
Yippee! We are five weeks away from being a fully vaxxed + 14 household!
I was not as thrilled about the second dose as the I was the first where I walked into an available vaccination appointment while running errands, “Dose of Pfizer back of store. Check in at drop off area.” I had not received a call or email, a reminder for the second dose from the grocery store pharmacy like I should have. I inquired on Friday and was put on hold. I was in the system but not in the system. The elevator music played until someone came on the line to say, “Monday at 3:30 pm.” A bit of a fever and sore arm today. Two doses done now. Part of the apprehension on acquiring came from the fact I had driven to another part of the state the first time and thus a return trip needed. Red counties don’t want the shot I guess. Co-horts receiving Pfizer the same day as I were two twenty-somethings in food service.
What made me decide to vaccinate? Peer pressure same as some other co-workers. “Do it to see your mom again.” One explained. “I want to travel to Texas and be safe.” Another commented on why they signed up for a shot. “Now you can go to Canada whenever they open the border.” The nurse said to me.
I got my second Moderna a few hours ago at Gillette Stadium. I have a long backlog of things to do starting in two weeks…
Joe in the ‘Vette for me, please.
You got it right.
I love these vaccination threads. Even though I’m fully vaxxed, I always drop whatever I’m doing at work and scroll through them to cheer myself up. Actually, at this point at the 11th hour and 57 minute point in my career, I drop whatever I’m doing at work for any number of reasons. But these threads are one of the defensible reasons.
I’d like a 2 dose Tikka please, am now even post quarantine! (but on-call so not celebrating til the weekend)
Could I have ducklings and WTF, please? Here’s why: I got my 2nd Pfizer April 10. Yay! Then on the 16th, day 2 of a planned 4 day weekend, I received notice of possible exposure April 11. I tested negative, thank goodness, but health department says quarantine anyway, and I aim to follow the instructions.
Moderation hell again. Why do I bother. Sigh
I’m getting my first one in 48 hours!
(Henry is in your corner!)
Two shots and two weeks and bigod I feel better. I like Tikka, but he looks like he’s contemplating murder in every picture of him I’ve ever seen.
Two weeks after second Pfizer shot. One of my kitties looks a lot like Steve so could I have the Doses Done sticker with his picture?
I wanna Steve sticker! Although I will not be fully cooked until Thursday—two weeks after second dose. Yay!
I got my second pfizer this morning.
May I please have a PELOSI SUNGLASSES & SMILE DONE sticker?
These threads bring me so much joy, too. I’m so happy for everyone. Wishing you all a robust immune response but with mild symptoms from said robust response.
Hey, we’re vaccine twins; me too!
Got my second Moderna shot this morning. Such a relief.
I’ll take a Nancy Smash if you would be so kind.
I got my second Pfizer shot Thursday and it kicked my ass most of the weekend. No fever, so it could’ve been worse. I’d like a Nancy Smash sticker, please.
I got dose 2 yesterday morning. I’m taking the afternoon off to nurse my headache and mild flu symptoms. So, so glad it’s done.
And the snow in Central Illinois is tapering off. Huzzah!
I’m two weeks post-Pfizer second dose. No side effects on either injection.
Anonymous At Work
2nd Moderna yesterday, taking the “Thanks, Dolly!” sticker. Sore sore arm and headache to justify minor mayhem and slaughter, but nothing too bad.
@buggrit: I’m so sorry! How are you feeling?
Our household is officially vaccinated. I just got back from taking my 21 yr old to get her shot.
Honestly my oldest (24) will get vaccinate when she can walk into a clinic and get the J&J shot without an appointment. She had an appointment for her first shot this past Sunday and no-showed. We worry but at the same time we realize there ain’t shit we can do about it.
@Enderville Phantom: Don’t give up!
WordPress remembers people based on a combination of screen name and email address.
Your original screen name was “The Enderville Phantom” and it remembered you for months.
So far in April you posted as:
“Enderville Something I dunno”
“That Enderville person from before”
and today you tried “Enderville Phantom”
Every time you use a slightly different name, WordPress thinks you are a new person, so your first comment has to be approved manually before any of them go through.
Unless you post in private mode or you don’t allow cookies, every device you have posted on should remember your screen name. So maybe pick one of these and make sure you comment from all of your devices with that same name, and you should be good to go.
West of the Rockies
Congrats. I wish Butte had fewer VaccHoles, but we’re getting better.
West of the Rockies
Try to keep tomorrow’s schedule light. Day two of Pfizer 2 was a drag.
@SiubhanDuinne: You go girl!
What Have the Romans Ever Done for Us?
I get my second dose this coming Monday but feel like it’s probable that I’m at least somewhat protected at this point and that feels really good. Once I’m done with shot #2 I will feel even better.
Most of the maps, charts and tables I’ve seen show percentage of total population, where nobody is above 50%, and only a few states are within range of it. (Also, you have to distinguish between the one-shot maps, charts and tables and the fully-vaccinated maps, charts and tables.) And, of course, except for Texas, most of the laggard red states are thinly-populated. New York and New Jersey more than compensate for the Confederate states, and California way more than compensates for Idaho and Wyoming. But no doubt there are red states lagging badly.
@Tom Levenson: Yay!
I love these threads so much! Anyone else get a little teary thinking about what we have all been through together?
These threads are so full of happy! Thank you Water Girl for taking the time to post these threads so regularly and for adding so many awesome stickers to each and every one. It must take you hours each day. You are the best! ?
My husband and I have been fully vaccinated for over a month, so no stickers needed. We got ours in thread #2, I think.
Currently we are in a mad rush to play catch-up on all the in-person medical and dental appointments we have been avoiding for the past year. We are exhausted from the driving to and from all the appointments, plus eye surgeries for my husband. But we are trying to get them all done before taking that sweet road trip to visit our youngest three grandkids. (10, 8 and 3). Soon. Soon. I can hardly wait.
So what else is new?
@Enderville Phantom: check out my reply at #48.
@West of the Rockies:
Thanks for the tip.
WOO FUCKING HOO!!
It’s been about 3 weeks since Pfizer Shot 2. Blissful.
Particularly needed on this visit to Wisconsin (masks, what masks?)
P.S. I’d love the Steve sticker, if possible.
Yeah, all the way back to early last March and Martin talking me out of taking a trip to Philadelphia.
I made buttons: https://imgur.com/KlC68F8
I’m one week out from the first shot and I’m wearing this thing on my arm as I do errands now, because apparently I’m that guy now.
Yay, celebration time! Today is the day I marked on my calendar as “Immunity Day”, two weeks after my second Pfizer shot. Scheduled a massage appointment for Friday (they are also vaccinated) and I am so excited! (Already had my stickers, but if you’re handing out extras, I would love a Nancy Smash).
Will be fully invested in House of Pfizer as of tomorrow. Just this last week as I was waiting to be completely baked, it occurred to me that until now I had not deep down actually believed I would survive COVID-19. Now that it’s highly likely, it feels a little like an existential quandary: Now what am I going to do with the rest of my life?
(Penelope while you wait. ~WG)
Go forth and repopulate the earth.
And fight vampires.
I am out of the two week cooking period for my second Pfizer shot and am back to riding the train to work. Prior to that, I drove every day out of an abundance of caution. I mask up, don’t touch anything, and don’t look at anybody, lol.
@Steeplejack (phone): I’m way over-age for that, but I’m sure I’ll think of something.
My son’s SO is getting her first moderna on Thursday at the UConn clinic. I’m so relieved.
2nd Moderna tomorrow, and then the relieved waiting period. Kind of surprised it has actually happened.
Just heard that there’s already a verdict in the Chauvin trial.
Got darted with Pfizer The Second on Saturday. Sunday was a sluggish day with a sore bicep, otherwise just dandy.
Tikka if you got ’em, por favor!
@buggrit: Ugh. It seems like 5 days to find out you were exposed is longer than it should be!
I will have had my 2-week quarantine tomorrow morning after my second shot. I actually spent yesterday with my bro & SIL (both vaxxed), which the FIRST time I spent casual/social time in 13 months, 10 days and about 2 or 3 hours. (Not that I’m counting, of course).
My bro & sis actually lives next door to their youngest kid, whose spouse and two little ones live with her. Which is hard, given that they are anti-vax, anti-mask, totally pro-party sorts of folks. I haven’t seen the older great-baby since she was.. (see above), the younger one was born on 3/13/20, so I haven’t met her yet EVER.
Talked a bunch with bro & sis, and finally decided to wait a couple of weeks, more or less, to see the babies. Hate that, but given the parents’ lifestyle, it’s perhaps the safest way to go. So didn’t see the babies! Even though they were next door…
Given that, could I maybe have a Champ stamp, just as consolation?
I got my second one with no serious side effects! No ER visit this time, and barely any arm soreness even. I’d love a Biden and a Pelosi, pleeeease! :D
Hooray for doing my part to end the pandemic!
Wait, are there new vaccine side effects? Are we in (another terrible remake of) I Am Legend?
@Princess Leia: Come back for your sticker tomorrow!
In the meantime, I gave you Penelope to hang out with.
I think I sticker everyone who wasn’t just chatting in the thread. If I missed you, or if you want a different sticker, chime in!
@Ken: I’m still mad I Am Legend strayed so far from the story. The original story is really good. There was even a fantastic comic adaptation of it I’d recommend to practically anybody.
Didn’t mention, actually, that I’d done a two-dose thing, plus, now, the two weeks quarantine (I think, anyway).
Know for sure that I didn’t mention that I’d lost my lovely kitty on April 4; she died from lymphoma. Thus wanting Champ.
so once again, THANK YOU!!. I can spend the evening crying much less miserably tonight.
@NineJean: I’m so sorry! I have a 19 year old cat that I’ve had since college, and I really worry about her constantly. We’ve had a couple of near-misses with her, and I can’t imagine how much that hurts.
Hugs for you.
Got my second Moderna yesterday and I am so relieved!
Gimme that brilliant Biden smile please!
@NineJean: I am so sorry about your kitty.
Henry is pretty good about snuggling and giving comfort. My friend used to call him Prozac when he was younger.
Second Moderna on Sunday past – felt a bit wonky yesterday. I would like a Dolly and a Henry if I am allowed! (Even though this Henry is not my Henry (a beagle) Thank you.
Got my pfirst Pfizer shot yesterday at the HyVee pharmacy in Brooklyn Park MN (Just north of Brooklyn Center).
Signed up only 3 1/2 hours prior to the appointment. Was in and out in 30 minutes including the 15 minute waiting period after the shot.
I’ll take Samwise.
I do. I think about the stress. I think about the loss??
I am still double ??, but, I feel hope.
For everyone here, the shot means something different, but it’s something tangible that you have missed.
Don’t look while the nurse prepares the shot and talk about something, anything and the next thing you know they’ll be putting a band-aid on your ouchie and you’ll realize you never felt the jab.
So sorry for your loss ??
I’d like himesama, please! Got my AZ on Friday.
Second Moderna dose today – again, I’d like a Lily sticker.
I got the first Pfizer shot last week on 4/14. I crave a Badger as a sticker.
Actually, (I feel John Cole’s exasperated breath on my neck) I was really planning to get a shot back in early March, when the county started making them available for 74 also rans like me, who just weren’t 75 or older and in dire need, but I’d stalled just a bit too long. Shortness of breath, lots of coughs — of course I’ve got COPD so that was kind of par for the course — but also chills, aching muscles, joint pains, head aches (I never get head aches!) … Two weeks of that with two weeks of sluggish recovery. No formal diagnosis, but from what I take from the internet it seems to have been a “light” case of COVID-19. Not something I’d recommend to anyone, but anyhow it’s academic now. Still, I think it rates an extra sticker — a nice picture of an indignant donkey perhaps, or the hind quarters of a horse.
Carry on with your Good Work!
I got the both shots. I need a calico cat.
20- 20- 24 hours to go
I wanna be vax’nated
Just got Moderna shot #1, administered by my mother-in-law at the city’s clinic for residents. I know about half of the people working this joint. Fast operation, no waiting, scheduled my second shot during the post-shot observation period.
Give me the tiny kitty!
My arm has been freshly poked with Pfizer #2.
I’ll take the ducklings, please.
@Fester Addams: I guess we’ll see you tomorrow, then! :-)
Second Moderna dose done this morning in North Carolina.
President Joe would like to show his approval with a sticker. And possibly Dolly too? After all, I did partake of her vaccine.
Hooray! Got Pfizer dose 2 at Six Flags Thursday, Husband got it Friday and youngest got his second at a church today!
Grace me with a Steve, please.
Second shot is done! Joe or Tikka, please!
And Mr. Rudbek had his first shot yesterday as well! So maybe a Kamala sticker for him? (I don’t think that he reads this blog regularly..:)
(Of course he gets a sticker! ~WG)
I’d like Himesama’s sticker, please.
Sister Rail Gun of Warm Humanitarianism
Got my second shot last week. Mild sinus headache the next day, but I often have one during pollen season, so I’m not sure if it was shot-related.
@Fester Addams: Yep. Pfully Pfizerized now! How about a President Joe at the wheel sticker ?
Second shot gotten. Pfizer that is. *grins* Tikka sticker for me and roomie please. :D
#HousePfizer, dose 1, done!
It’s so hard to choose among all these fantastic stickers, but I think for this first one I would like baby Champ, please and thank you.
Give me samewise #1 jab done :-)
Although gonna add my two kitties when I get #2. :-)
I got my 1st one. I choose Baby Champ, please ?
Shot #2 for House Moderna today, for myself and the better half. Looking forward to seeing our son for the first time in over a year. Number two calls for two ducks, doesn’t it?
@TallTom: It does, indeed!
WaterGirl, I love reading through these Got the Shot posts every few days and seeing who all is now immunized, and the stickers they choose! Thank you so much for all your work and creative ideas!
Also, aside from the pandemic, what a difference in the overall happiness level between now and the past four years.
@stinger: I appreciate your kind words!
No One You Know
Pfizer one is done! #2 scheduled!May I have the Samwise sticker? The household cats approved it.
A little over an hour ago I got my second Pfizer shot. No side effects so far, obviously.
While I was in the ‘waiting room’ for the 15 minutes post-vax I saw a soaring bird that looked like it could be a young Golden Eagle, which in my county would be remarkable in winter and even more so in late April. Sadly I didn’t have binoculars but I did spend some time standing in front of the windows hoping it would circle back.
I’d love it if you could give me the duckling stickers, WaterGirl.
@stinger: I agree (happiness level)!
Got my first dose of Moderna this week! Side effects were a sore arm at the “pulled a muscle” level of pain for a few days, and three nights of disrupted sleep schedule (sometimes insomnia, sometimes out like a light for 12+ hours).
Baby Champ, plz!
There is a newer I Got the Shot! thread up.
