Mr. Doyle’s observation regarding the ease of getting vaccinated versus forging a fake vaccination certificate [not to mention the legal risk] shows the mindset of these thugs and criminals.
They have no respect for the law because they were raised that way. The justice system has molly coddled them from a young age to expect that they would not suffer any consequences for their actions.

I just got back from shopping at a large supermarket in a retail park. The supermarket was busy but not very crowded but clothing and sports goods stores in the retail park had substantial queues outside their door, having re-opened for shoppers in the past week. Going past these crowds made my skin crawl a little. I seem to have become (more) peoplephobic since this whole thing kicked off.

@WereBear:
Enough of us are fools and knaves. Even those folks who take this epidemic seriously will convince themselves that driving fifteen hundred miles round trip to visit family at Thanksgiving is acceptable because they’ll take precautions en route. Dad has said that crazy Uncle Fred will have to wear a mask at the dinner table and not cough all over the marshmallow Jello that antivaxxer Cousin Jeb is bringing along with his five offspring fresh from their megachurch service.
Multiply that sort of thinking by fifty million and you’ve got a superspreader event and there’s no law, no government on the planet that can prevent it, excepting the Chinese maybe.
Here in Scotland we were facing a lockdown over Christmas last year for five days since the epidemiologists were forecasting a big uptick in COVID-19 cases if we didn’t. When it became clear to the government High Heid Yins that this just wasn’t going to work, any attempt to impose a lockdown was going to be roundly ignored by a large swathe of the public because it was Christmas they retreated back to a very much shorter and largely ineffective lockdown. Sure enough we got a big uptick in case numbers and deaths starting in early January that is only now dying down thanks to another lockdown and a big vaccination rollout.

The cartoon opening this post is really offensive to me. Firefighting foams are really dangerous to human health. The fire depicted in the cartoon would not require these types of pollutants by any means and there are alternatives even for where they are required: https://www.usfa.fema.gov/training/coffee_break/021120.html
Please do not make light of a serious problem.
Alabama Blue Dot
Re. the cartoon: Years ago we had a big warehouse fire here in Birmingham, Alabama and we learned about the long-term effects of fire extinguisher foam. It washed into the storm drains and a major creek, and killed a lot of fish. We used the experience to improve firefighting methods and materials. We did not stop putting out fires.
