Lucky 13!
Congratulations to all who have gotten at least one vaccination!
If you need to find a place to get the COVID vaccine, just text your zipcode to 438829. You’ll get locations near you where you can get vaccinated! Text to VACUNA (822862) for Spanish. (lifted from a tweet by Ron Klein, who should know what he is talking about.)
For Canadian readers, if you’re looking for a shot, vaccinehunters.ca is doing incredible work to highlight locations with available appointments.

adultsresidents fully vaccinated..Geo Wilcox
My daughter got her second shot and was wiped out for a week. I am so glad she got the vaccine because if her reaction to the shots was any indication, she might not have survived getting the virus itself.
Woodrow/asim
Oh! Yeah, second shot done Wed. 9AM — and I feel…better than I have in months?
I would love Tikka, please? Thanks!

Oldest is now pfully pfizerized. He’d like Dolly and Nancy Smash!

My wife and I got our 2nd Moderna shots around noon yesterday. So far so good, mostly just sore arms for both of us. Emailed my association’s scheduler and let him know I’ll be able start working baseball games as of the 14th – can’t wait to get behind the plate again!
Give me the 2 shot Steve sticker please…
SFBayAreaGal
Got my two Moderna shots from my local Veterans Administration clinic. They operated like they’ve done this before. ?
I was fully protected by mid April.
Katalin and Kizzmekia stickers, please.
Thank you Maze Dancer for the new stickers.
beth
Got my second shot two weeks ago so I’m as safe as I’m gonna be which is good because I got a new supervisor at work who walks around with his nose hanging out of his mask. At least I don’t have to work closely with him. I bet he turns out to be a Trumpy right wing asshole.
Surprise me with the sticker!
Princess Leia
Fully vaccinated as of this Wednesday- Moderna rocks!!! Steve please!

Didja mean “Weekend Edition” or “Weakened Condition” – ? At least for the foist coupla daze… :^p

#2 Pfizer on Wed, and I never even felt the injection. I was half worried it never happened, but then I could feel the spot a few hours later, and then my shoulder stiffened and was rather sore. Not unlike tetanus boosters, actually. Kinda hungover feeling on day 2, but could have been for lack of sleep caused by shoulder pain.
All in all, I have felt worse. A lot worse. Wife is due for hers next Friday, the one kid old enough the week after – both #2 and both got Pfizer (in case that is of matter.)
I also need to ask HR whether we have a policy for being vaccinated and in the office. I had a coworker say something to me that suggests he’s not having it, and I don’t know why any of us would need to be in the same space as someone with no medical excuse to decline. We’re looking at late summer opening it back up. Depending, of course..
Benw
My eldest teenager got Pfizer #1 on Sunday and wife is juuuust about recovered from Moderna #2! Can I get a Himesama and Dolly for them?
debbie
The vaccine has really screwed with my preexisting autoimmune issues. Today it’s in my knees. Practice for old age, I guess.

@Benw:
How is she feeling? I had a rough go of it and I made me feel so sad for the people who had COVID.

Just got second pfizer shot. Still chilling in the observation area.

Husband and I hit our two week post-Pfizer point this last Wednesday. When we got our last injection I took one of the “please volunteer to help” fliers and was going to sign up at this point but demand has dropped so much that they have plenty of volunteers and are closing the county mass vaccination clinic in favour of pharmacies and pop up clinics. Unfortunately the pop-up clinic at the local high school this week was marred by antivaxers protesting and hassling the students as they entered the building to get their vaccinations. This town is pretty blue, but on the edge of OR crazy rural red. I was happy to note that this town is carved out as excluded from the proposed state of Jefferson, so we’ve got that going for us.
On the plus side, a recent drive to Mt Hood reveals that all the big tRump signs on various farms and ranchettes seen about a month ago are all gone now. Didn’t see a one!
WaterGirl
@Butter emails: Congratulations! What stickers would you like?

I got my second dose this week while volunteering at a local vaccination clinic. Probably the best part was welcoming back those who were returning for their second shot and seeing their smiles. Got to practice my Spanish too. Have a great day y’all!

Got the second shot yesterday. Now we’re just waiting for the kids to be cleared for vaccination. We’re lucky to live in one of the most vaccinated areas of the country. And we’ve had no problems with anti-maskers. Everyone just wants this over.
What Have The Romans Ever Done for Us?
@Frankensteinbeck: Me too. Only a week and two days to go, although I’m guessing we have pretty robust protection at this point.

Two weeks to the second Moderna. The first was a 3 day ache in the injected muscle, mild but constant. More than han worth it for being able to DO things in another month. I gm tabletop roleplaying games, and I miss the tables.
Yes online does the gaming, but you can’t share snacks or really look at people’s art/figures on discord or roll20 or…

Avalune and I got our second shot of Moderna yesterday. Last night, for me, was rough. Combination of running a fever with cold chills, lot of muscle pain/soreness, spot where they gave the shot is beyond sore; we’re still drinking lots of water, but I’ll be happy to be past this phase.
Dolly please!
sab
@Leto: My stepdaughter had a similar reaction to sevond Moderna shot. Bad night, sore arm, and chills alternating with fever, same the next day, then went to bed and woke up the following morning feeling fine.
currants
YES! Got my second Moderna on Thursday morning. It kind of knocked me down that night and the next day so I sort of forgot about celebrating with a sticker, but I’m here now! I’m here to celebrate Katalin and Kizzmekia, please!
Leto
@sab: I probably need to sleep more as I didn’t sleep all that much to begin with. Or at least just go lay down on the couch.
currants
@Leto: YES. slight headache to begin, but nothing too bad until it was time to sleep. Then chills first (for about 4 hrs) then fever, and my joints were on fire. Still have the slight headache and occasional chill (and a rash on my trunk but that could be strawberries!) and I’m kind of tired, but it’s much much better today. I just kept thinking “tanks gods it’s not actual covid.” Yeesh.
Central Planning
My 2nd, 3rd, and 4th kids got their second shot today. All but one (15 years old) are fully vaccinated. Phew!

I got my first shot, Astra Zeneca. Mild reaction for the first 24 hours. I’ll take a Champ sticker, thank you.
MazeDancer
@SFBayAreaGal:
Thank you for the Kizzmekia suggestion!

I love these threads because they always cheer me up. The day I hit the two week post-second Moderna shot last week, I hopped in the car and drove 1200 miles to see my 88 year old vaxxed mother for the first time in 18 months. So here I am at my Mom’s in a purple city in a ruby red state with gratifyingly high levels of mask compliance as far as I can tell. Anti vaxxers can piss off.
something fabulous
Last night was my 2nd shot + 2 weeks day! To remind myself the exact date, on the day of the second shot I set myself a reminder in my calendar, so yesterday I got the cheerful message (from self): “ENJOY YOUR ANTIBODIES!”
So, enjoy your antibodies, everyone!
If we also get stickers for this landmark, I would LOVE ducklings(nowteens) and Dr. Corbett! Great additions, BTW!

Second Pfizer, about this time yesterday. Some mild fever-y stuff a few hours later and mild headache now, but that’s been it after 24 hours. Steve.
Thor Heyerdahl
Got my first AZ on Monday – Tuesday was a bit sluggish, but since then it’s been pretty smooth. One Badger please.
And for the Canadian readers, if you’re looking for a shot, vaccinehunters.ca is doing incredible work to highlight locations with available appointments.

@Leto: I have found sleeping through these vaccine reactions to be amazingly curative
I work remotely. I slept through two days after my first Moderna. (My second was worse.) My boss was where were you? Sick in bed. That happens.

Got Pfizer #2 on Wed. felt hungover on Thursday. Been tired-headachy, but I’m so happy I don’t care.
Kamala & Joe for me!
Chancellor of my university system said on friday they weren’t planning on requiring students to get vaccinated for Fall because “most of our students are commuters”. WTF?
WaterGirl
@JML: Wow, the cream didn’t exactly rise to the top when they were filling the chancellor position at your university.
Bighorn Ordovician Dolomite
I rarely ever post anymore, and nothing that I did post was ever really all that significant, but I just want to speak up and say that I have now had my second dose! Big thanks to Anne Laurie for her daily updates too BTW.
WaterGirl
@Bighorn Ordovician Dolomite: Congratulations! What stickers would you like?
Also, lurk less, comment more. :-)
JML
@WaterGirl: well, it’s a system position, so it’s one of those jobs that sounds like you’re leading a really big enterprise, but what you’re really doing a lot of the time is playing referee between a whole bunch of independent city-states, but they do get to set broad policy especially in times like this.
I get the answer of “well, we need to have vaccine supply on campus if we’re going to require it”. That’s fair…but also probably achievable, at least for the residential colleges, all of whom have a health services unit. The commuter answer makes no damn sense and screams, “we’re not doing anything that might harm enrollments, and staff who are worried about getting infected can suck it”. (and I do mean staff, because teaching faculty are getting to do whatever the hell they want during this, including taking their courses online at a whim)

Hello Juicers –
Pfizer #2 achieved this morning. I have been hydrating, keeping moving, and so far I am mostly just tired. But I got little sleep last night, and have a terrible “energy drink – sleep supplement – energy drink” cycle on non-vaccine days, so, honestly, I feel like “Day Ends in Y” for me.
My sister got Pfizer #2 and I don’t think had any real side effects at all. My parents got Moderna and felt like crap the next day, but after that, nothing.
I am preparing to spend a day or two on the couch if need be, but I am crossing my fingers I may avoid that.
Steve would be greatly appreciated!
RobertDSC-Mac Mini
Ex-girlfriend got her first Pfizer shot yesterday. She was a vax skeptic, so hearing the news that she was getting the shot was a load of worry off my shoulders.
Penelope, please.
A lady friend who does a lot of contact with people won’t get the shot when I asked about it. Very disappointing.
Nancy
I got my second shot on April 1. I’ve waited to see family and friends until they are able to unmask with me. Haven’t seen my son and his wife since forever. Lunch planned for May 15. So excited.
I’m partial to Steve.
Quilted Anvil
2nd Pfizer dose for my better half and me was yesterday. Feeling bright-eyed and bushy-tailed today after a brief headache 2 hours after my dose. Woke up yesterday thinking about all the people around the world (esp. India and Brazil) who would give almost anything to be in my position.
I am very lucky. I wish everyone could be so lucky. Thank goodness for our President. Can I have Biden for my better half and Kizzmekia for me.
HumboldtBlue
I just got jab No. 2!
WaterGirl
@HumboldtBlue: Congrats! Which stickers?

I finally got the 2nd shot, I’ve been in love with the Rosie and Thurston since you published it, so sticker me, please!

@WaterGirl: if you’re still reading this, 3x Steves would be great.
WaterGirl
@Central Planning: I hope I interpreted your request correctly.

I acquired my second Moderna shot this afternoon. So far, so good. Last time, my arm did not get sore until the second day. I would love to have a Nancy in the red coat sticker. Thanks, Watergirl.
Feathers
Got my first shot (Pfizer) last Friday. No side effects at all. Not even sore. I did rub.
Another amazing technology: the red Walgreens bandaid they put on. Left it on expecting it to fall off. Finally took it off on Friday, having showered every day. Had to pull it off. Am going to ask if this bandaid is available for purchase when I go back.
ETA Joe in the convertible sticker please!
Comrade Colette
I got my second Moderna dose an hour ago. My arm is already starting to hurt, despite repeated applications of donuts and cappuccino. I have my work calendar blocked off tomorrow in case of side effects and I plan to take the day off regardless.
Thanks, Dolly!
TomatoQueen
We are all vaccinated in this pod, A Young Man on April 1, his weekend caregiver two weeks ago, his main caregiver today, and me, today, at 5:20 pm. We done, all J & J-Janssen, and nobody has any side effects or eccentricities beyond the usual.
Dr Fauci sticker when you have a moment, please.
TomatoQueen
Oh thank you for Dr Fauci sticker.
Sigh, I’m sad to say that the J&J Janssen One and Done hit me like the proverbial <insert proverbial thing here> yesterday, approx 24 hours after the shot. SPLITTING headache, chills, exhaustion, all of which are trending away now, but that’s after a most unpleasant day and a sleepless night. Too wiped out and shaky to do any w*Rk today. My Young Man’s caregiver experienced the same thing, but a bit later and for a shorter period of time, and he’s fine today. At least we won’t have to do this again.
WaterGirl
@TomatoQueen: That sounds distinctly unpleasant, but it’s so good that you are heading in the right direction. Dr. Fauci approves.
eddie blake

I got my 2nd Pfizer jab yesterday. Today, I felt lethargic and a little achy, but it wasn’t too bad. I used my symptoms as an excuse to take the afternoon off and buy ice cream.
Could I have me some Tikka please?
WaterGirl
There is a more recent I Got the Shot! in the sidebar.
