Balloon Juice

Come for the politics, stay for the snark.

Innocent people do not delay justice.

Wake up. Grow up. Get in the fight.

Stop using mental illness to avoid talking about armed white supremacy.

When I was faster i was always behind.

We can’t confuse what’s necessary to win elections with the policies that we want to implement when we do.

If you voted for Trump, you don’t get to speak about ethics, morals, or rule of law.

Not loving this new fraud based economy.

Putin must be throwing ketchup at the walls.

The republican speaker is a slippery little devil.

Hey Washington Post, “Democracy Dies in Darkness” was supposed to be a warning, not a mission statement.

A thin legal pretext to veneer over their personal religious and political desires.

White supremacy is terrorism.

Let’s bury these fuckers at the polls 2 years from now.

There is no compromise when it comes to body autonomy. You either have it or you do not.

Of course you can have champagne before noon. That’s why orange juice was invented.

You cannot shame the shameless.

You passed on an opportunity to be offended? What are you even doing here?

The lights are all blinking red.

Every reporter and pundit should have to declare if they ever vacationed with a billionaire.

It’s pointless to bring up problems that can only be solved with a time machine.

Our messy unity will be our strength.

The most dangerous place for a black man in America is in a white man’s imagination.

There are consequences to being an arrogant, sullen prick.

Baby steps, because the Republican Party is full of angry babies.

@mrmoshpotato: I got a pair of lace up sneakers a couple weeks ago.  I liked them so much I bought another pair.  The laces are built in so they’re slip on sneakers.  Who knew?

I bought a pair for my partner who needs arch support.  He wears them a lot.

Interesting note:  My father had patents for the first soft rubber heels and soles back when they didn’t last long and were only on cheap sneakers.  They lasted longer than leather, which was considered the only durable choice.  He developed chemistries for making heels and soles in many different colors plus transparent.

My god, the Republicans really are eating their own.  Tucker went after Frank Luntz and Twitter is swarming with hate for Luntz because Luntz thinks vaccination is good, and doesn’t think that the real crime of 1/6 is that rioter getting shot.

Oh, I find that entirely likely. He doesn’t have what Trump had, though. He can bring in the white supremacists and the truly insane hate freaks, but he doesn’t inspire the misogynists or the Your Racist Uncle block. He’s not stupid or petty enough. The misogynists in particular were a vastly important few percentage points that normally don’t vote Republican and Trump added. The hardcore white supremacists aren’t primary voters, either.

    @?BillinGlendaleCA:

Sure, but again, Tucker’s core are the extreme racists and loons who don’t get involved in the party.  The ones who think the Republican establishment isn’t conservative enough.  That’s not where you want your support in the primaries.  Also, like TFG relied on Twitter, Carlson relies on his show.  Campaigning will take him off of it.  Too many of his supporters don’t tune in for speeches, they watch TV.  He’s the Republican Sanders, but even more so.  His supporters froth at the mouth, but they’re too busy screaming to do the work of electing him.

  38. 38.

    ?BillinGlendaleCA

    May 1, 2021 at 5:29 am

@Frankensteinbeck: TFG was the total package, Tucker’s maybe 2/3’s, but don’t count him out.  A lot of folk counted out TFG, how’d that work out?

Also, keep in mind, TFG wasn’t the party’s pick early on, that was probably Jeb!.

    @?BillinGlendaleCA:

I don’t know about the others, but I knew the evangelical base would adore Trump.  They love stupidity, pettiness, and corruption.  Now, they also like screaming Hitler hate, but like you said, Carlson is 2/3rds Trump, and that isn’t enough.  And everyone who hated Trump will be just as horrified when they see Carlson up close.  I don’t think he can pull it off, and I think the impossibility of doing his show and campaigning will in particular be a giant anchor sinking his main strength.  But, it is very, very early.  We’ll just have to see.  I do agree he’s trying to snap up the Trump base, presumably for political ambitions.

You’d think that the sucess Biden has had so far would dispel that Idea, or here in California with Chairman Jerry, but nope.

It’s eerie to see how TFG is just the same as he ever was. Maybe a little more deflated, maybe not even that. It was never about that guy, it was about him being used as a puppet.
Which means keep an eye out for other puppets, but it’s also real interesting to see how weak and helpless the guy really is. You’d think there would at least be crowds of Proud Boys or something. I see that he’s still useful to Putin as he’d be very easy to hurt in his current scenario: maybe this IS him being hurt, but I think it’s more complicated than that.

Well, if we’re doing parental related footwear boasts, my father was a member of a team that designed and made individually fitted boots for an elephant. They were for a 1960s expedition to retrace Hannibal’ crossing of the Alps. One of the boots he clicked is in our local museum.

BTW Awake from a long involved dream(s?) with a magic filled quest by a young guy to answer questions not revealed in his epic dream about the moon and other things revealing where he was to move to succeed at something like running for president.  Turned ugly when I was identified as the whirlwind by a wide plastic bowl mysteriously spinning and lifting into the windless air.  Then our orange cat began to bite me painlessly but viciously.  Got ugly quick.  Time to roam the web and distract from the creepy feeling.  Reading about Covid Variants in India should distract.  /s

BTW No company believed that soft heels and soles would be durable or marketable.  They were introduced after the patents expired.  Now hard leather soles are rare.

I hope there was better success with elephant shoes.
