Congratulations to all who have gotten at least one vaccination!
Anyone still waiting for the vaccine?
If you need to find a place to get the COVID vaccine, just text your zipcode to 438829. You’ll get locations near you where you can get vaccinated! Text to VACUNA (822862) for Spanish. (lifted from a tweet by Ron Klein, who should know what he is talking about.)
Or go to https://www.vaccines.gov
For Canadian readers, if you’re looking for a shot, vaccinehunters.ca is doing incredible work to highlight locations with available appointments.
Tell me which stickers you want, so I can sticker you!

CVS announced today that all of their locations are now doing walk-in vaccinations! I’m really excited about that, it’ll help a significant amount of people get vaccinated. This Web site looks good for finding shots, too. https://www.hhs.gov/immunization/get-vaccinated/where/index.html

Today is the magic day! 2 weeks past the 2nd Moderna. Relief for sure. I still find it hard to determine how to evaluate what has risk out there for me, and what I would do without thinking that is more risky. Does anyone know of a chart that compares things like eating out or going to the dentist with everyday risks like driving my car to the dentist?
Still, so grateful! Dolly for me.

Got shot 2 yesterday. Pfizer. Thank you, Diamond Joe.

https://www.vaccines.gov will also work, for us old farts who prefer a computer over a phone.

I literally just walked in the door from Pfizer #2. Very good day!

Done with 2 a month ago! We’ve been hanging with a few friends who’ve been fully vacc’d, well ventilated or outside (mostly). It’s been great!
Oh, I have to shave now ;<( (masks cover sloth)

Waiting for 15 minutes after second Pfizer. May I have a Lily sticker please?
Thanks!
Poe Larity
Got my second pfizer Monday, I presume Melinda gets this chip.
Chills and flu symptoms first morning, now just body aches. I’ll take the Steve.

Here in #foreignspeakingnation the missus gets her second shot Friday and my age group get to sign up for first shots probably next week I think. I can’t really complain (more than usual) since the government did project that’s when I’d get my turn, and, anyway, vax passports won’t become a thing a week or two after (I hope) I’ve gotten my second shot. Yay EU?
different-church-lady
Right this very moment I’m in the observation pen for Pfizer 2!!!!! ????
rikyrah
My skeptic sister, her cynical son and health freak daughter all got their first Pfizer’s yesterday.
Sister had some side effects, but is doing better this morning.?
You don’t know how happy I am ?
May I have a Samwise, Badger, and MVP?
rikyrah
Waiting everyday for the government to announce approval of Pfizer for 12-15 year olds ??????
la caterina
@rikyrah: It should be soon. Then it’s Peanut’s turn, right?

My wife got her shot #2 (Pfizer) yesterday evening. I’ve already had my shots, so by the 18th (which, I kid you not, is our 30th wedding anniversary!) we’ll be as fully protected as we can be right now.
dmsilev
@rikyrah: End of this week or early next week, I think. Soon, anyway.
The local public health folks are setting up vaccination clinics at schools, both for students and for their parents. Once the 12+ approval comes through, extending that from high schools down into the middle school range seems like a no-brainer next step.
gvg
@rikyrah: Yes, me too. I google the news several times a day “Vaccine 12-15”
Canada just approved it, beating us, to my surprise.
I have 2 nephews and no younger relatives at this time, so that would complete my close family. I want it so bad. one nephew has been asking questions about side effects. He was very interested in the report that moving your arms a lot after getting the shot, helped not be so sore (circulation I think) He likes basketball and swimming, so those are now his plan after.
He said he is afraid of shots, but he really wants this one.

Wife and I got the 2nd moderna shot yesterday.
She felt fine, I had sweats all night.
Ironically, I have a planned medical procedure later in the month, and they want me to isolate myself anyway. So no major change in what I can do for several more weeks )-;

Dose 2 on Sunday. I can hardly wait.
BTW, the CDC vaccine health tracker app has reminded me twice to make sure I schedule an appointment. As it happens, the site where I got the first shot scheduled my second shot when I confirmed the first one – very efficient! – so I didn’t have to remember.
rikyrah
@la caterina:
Yes??????
Skepticat
Willing but unable. Still out of the country and, once I return, still at least two weeks away from Maine, where I’m eligible and have my doctor nagging me. I’m feeling very out of it but happy for all those who have been immunized.
rikyrah
@Skepticat:once you return, you will get your shots ????
Another Scott
If anyone got their first shot and is waiting for information about signing up for the 2nd, check your e-mail for a generic-seeming message from the CDC. In my case, I was expecting an e-mail from the county (got my first from the county health department) and glanced at but ignored the CDC e-mail. I finally called the county and got straightened out.
The CDC email is to sign up with VAMS where you indicate whether you’ve already had a shot or not, etc., and enter your particulars. Once that is done, it gives a list of available local appointments for your appropriate delay between shots.
There were **lots** of appointments available.
With so many walk-ins now available, it may be redundant now, but some of us don’t like waiting any longer than we have to. ;-)
My second/final Pfizer is this Saturday. Counting the hours…
Cheers,
Scott.

@dmsilev: I added that to the post up top. thanks.

@LeftCoastYankee: What stickers would you like?

More than two months since we got shot 2, but still glad that the plumbers who’ve been in and out still wear masks in the house at all times.

I got the 2nd team Moderna dose 13 days ago, so I’m officially ripe tomorrow. I plan to celebrate with a haircut. I’ll take the black cat, please.
Ninedragonspot
Had my 2nd shot 3 weeks ago, which affords me the privilege of being able to attend on Thursday the SF Symphony’s very first concert since lockdown 14 months ago. They’ll be checking vaccination cards / COVID tests at the door.
I was at the last concert the symphony gave before lockdown (Michael Tilson Thomas conducting Mahler’s tragic 6th), so I’m particularly thrilled to be able to welcome them back.
(I’ll take the sticker I didn’t know I needed)

FYI for fellow Floridians: almost all CVS locations now have walk-in vaccinations (except those not offering any vax) and almost all Walgreens have beaucoup appointments available on same- or next-day notice (go to their website). Walgreens has Pfizer. I don’t know what CVS has. Since you can’t spit in this state without hitting one or the other, these are better options for most residents than dealing with county or state clinics, which can be hard to find, sign up for, and get to.

My wife is a primary care doctor who has been coordinating Covid care for her medical group for this part of WA state. At one point she was supervising about 100 other primary care doctors on outpatient Covid care.
She says they are all beyond burnt out at this point. And God help anyone who rolls into the hospital with Covid after about July. Getting Covid in 2020 was a tragedy. Catching it in the second half of 2021 (at least in the US) is just pure dumbfuckery. They will still do their jobs, but all the above and beyond shit is just completely wrung out of them
She has her own patient panel of about 2500. So far she’s had about 6 of her patients die of Covid. But also about 15 who are serious long-haulers and she says that is a seriously under-reported problem. Heart issues, lung issues, fatigue issues. It can be fucking miserable. Some of them are young. And no, getting vaccinated isn’t a cure for most.
(Henry and Lily send their thanks. ~WG)

Hit my two shots and two weeks mark yesterday. Give me Lily to celebrate!

May 4th was two weeks past my second shot. May I please have a scientist sticker?
WaterGirl
Hey everybody who didn’t say which sticker you want, let me know so I can sticker you if you want one. thanks.

I got Moderna #2 yesterday and I have ALL the side effects. I’m miserable. As bad as I have ever felt in my life. It’s so great!
Katalin and Kizzmekia, please.

I got my second dose of Pfizer yesterday morning at Cal State LA. I had a walk-in appointment, but I don’t think appointments are necessary right now at this city-run site. Los Angeles is currently offering no-appointment walk-ins at city-run vaccination sites while supplies last.
Cal State LA also had its drive-thru vaccination option open again. Maybe the drive-thru handled folks who did not make an appointment.
No side effects today other than mild fatigue and soreness at the injection site. *knocks on wood*
Himesama sticker, please!
WaterGirl
@Ninedragonspot: I couldn’t decide, but I figured one of these 3 would surely like the symphony!
WaterGirl
@Skepticat: These guys wanted to hang out with you while you wait.
WaterGirl
@dmsilev: Students and parents together seems like a great idea.

Mrs. and I got Pfizer 2 this morning! Made me all smiley and goosebumply when I got it. We did VPOTUS and POTUS last time, so about same again, please?

I’ll receive my second dose next Tuesday, oh yeah!

@WaterGirl: It’s all good: Nancy gets my vote, Fauci gets my brain, and Dolly gets my heart. Many thanks!

I am really impressed at the number, range, and variety of stickers available. Good work and many thanks to MazeDancer and Water Girl
ETA: My husband and I were fully vaccinated (Pfizer) on May 1. I have started venturing out a bit more and am trying to get a chiropractic appointment (the first one in probably 18 months). The first big celebration will be driving (in the same car!!) with my fully vaccinated girl friend to the Mendocino Coast to see the heritage roses in bloom at the Mendocino Botanical Gardens.
WaterGirl
@A woman from anywhere (formerly Mohagan): Wow, a car ride with a friend. Who knew at the beginning of 2020 that that would be a big Joe Biden deal? Congratulations.
What stickers would you guys like?

@WaterGirl: I’ll take the mystery sticker!

Got my second Pfizer on Monday! Had a slightly sore arm and a little fatigue (maybe, or maybe it’s just allergies.) Impatiently waiting out my two weeks to human contact!
Sweet Lily for me, please!

@WaterGirl:
Thank you; that makes it easier to endure.

I reported in, late in a thread a few days ago, so I don’t think my request for Nancy Smash was seen. I got my 2nd pfizer on Tuesday, and hope I can get 2 stickers please: Nancy Smash ‘done’ and Biden ‘got the shots.’ Thank you
Gloomyjim
Got the shot monday. Couldnt tell if it hurt as I full on wrecked on my Eskateboard on the way to get the shot…think I bruised a couple ribs on the left side.
Want a Max sticker, but got pfizer. That is one majestic and photogenic beast. Guess I will take the Katalin Kariko one.
WaterGirl
@Gloomyjim: We don’t care what the words say. One handsome Max for you!

Just got Moderna #2. Expecting the truck to hit me this afternoon, but enjoying 2015-like levels of energy and optimism until then. With #1 I got Kamala so please may I have Nancy to make a nice set?

@WaterGirl: Thanks!

Got Pfizer #2 on Tuesday. Wednesday, I was knocked out–woozy, aching, lightheaded. Today I’m not 100%, but my head is clear.
WaterGirl
@Nora Lenderbee: Progress! What stickers would you like?

Got my seond Pfizer shot yesterday. Came home and fixed myself a tuna salad sandwhich. It seemed the thing to do to celebrate the Sinkhole de Mayo.

WaterGirl
@Nora Lenderbee: Hope you are feeling better today.
