Is anyone still getting vaccinated? Or is everybody done?
The last thread got much less action than any of the previous ones, so I thought I should ask.
Tell me which stickers you want, so I can sticker you!

2nd shot this past Monday. I’ll take a Steve.
My “full” immunity day is Memorial Day.
Gvg
1 nephew had his first. He likes all cats.
SiubhanDuinne
My “full immunity” day is this coming Thursday. I’ll be asking for a celebratory sticker at that time, and further observing the occasion by getting a haircut and pedicure in the afternoon, and dining maskless with friends that evening.
WaterGirl
@SiubhanDuinne: Wow, you are going for the hat trick!
Emerald
I’m fully vaxxed. I’ll take the penguin. Chill.
Matt McIrvin
I got my second Moderna shot on Thursday. I think the majesty of Steve is appropriate for this one.
I know the motivational purpose of these threads is probably spent by now, but, oddly, I found myself looking forward to posting here for a sense of closure. I was relatively late mostly because Massachusetts opened up to the general public late, and the Moderna vaccine has a long recommended interval between shots.
And there’s still my daughter’s second shot, a couple weeks off…
Citizen Alan
Right now, even though I’m fully vaccinated, I plan to continue wearing my mask in public for three reasons. (1) I have not had any seasonal allergies (and certainly not of the sort that have brought me to the brink of pneumonia in years past) over the last year since I started wearing a mask. (2) I am conditioned now to think of people not wearing masks as “assholes” and I don’t want to look like them. (3) I have the secret hope that some Trumpist will start some shit with me so I can go on a rant about “my freedom as an American to wear a mask if I want to!”
Bruce K in ATH-GR
I don’t need stickers (I already got MVP and Diamond Joe), but this week I passed the point where the Pfizer shot becomes fully effective. I consider that point another cause for celebration.
And yes, I still wear my mask outside, partly because it’s still required everywhere in Greece, partly because I want to be considerate.
Manxome Bromide
I got my second Moderna earlier this week, with “full immunity” as the month turns.
I would like ducklings.
Omnes Omnibus
@Citizen Alan: I don’t plan to where masks any more than is recommended. I will, however, make sure I have on with me in for the foreseeable future so that I can mask up if needed. Wearing a mask to “pwn the MAGAs” seems dumb.
sdhays
I got my second Moderna shot on Friday. Saturday was tough, but feeling better today. My wife gets her second shot this coming Thursday. We have a dental appointment planned for when we’re both “fully charged” and since my parents are going to be in town and can watch the baby, we’re going to take the day to do things just the two of us. I don’t think we’ve had a full day of just the two of us since our son was born in 2019. I think we might actually eat in a restaurant – not simply take-out!
TomatoQueen
I saw a report in a reasonably trustworthy but still online source (WaPo) t’other day that in addition to its manufacturing woes, J & J has some data showing J & J vaccine doesn’t protect as well, cos fewer than expected antibodies detectable in bloodstream. This is of concern to vulnerable groups (esp old folks), and me, cos my Bubble is all J & J (two front line workers in their 30s with two under-5 kids, my Young Man turned 34 and medically risky, and moi, over 65 with some health issues and a foul temper). I hope that at worst this means booster shots in 6 months, around the time of flu shots. Today I have what I hope is a truly hideous allergy episode , & consider it my just punishment for not saving a link to the WaPo piece.
MagdaInBlack
I had my 2nd Moderna Thursday morning and spent Friday in bed wrapped up like a burrito, shivering, sweating and snoozing. But, all better now.?
I already got my sticker, thank you ❤️
Ken
My full immunity day is Wednesday at 9:20 am local time, not that I’m counting.
Jackie
@Citizen Alan: I’m with you! I’m fully vaccinated, but our bi-county vaccination percentages are only at 37% and 24% currently. I go without a mask outdoors, but shopping and other public indoor activities, I’ll keep the mask on.
RobertDSC-Mac Mini
My friend got her second Pfizer shot Friday. It put her out Saturday. I’m happy she got it as she was a resister early on. Her mother and aunt and uncle getting shots helped change her mind. She has to cook for two weeks, then we can go out again after many months apart.
Penelope, please.
randy khan
Today I hit 2 weeks from my second shot, so I’m fully vaxxed. Hooray!
MomSense
Last family member got her shot. Son’s fiancée got Moderna #2. I’m so relieved.
Kizzmekia please.
rikyrah
@Edmund Dantes: doing the 14 day antibody countdown ????
rikyrah
@SiubhanDuinne:
Yeah ?
rikyrah
@Emerald:
Awesome ?
rikyrah
@Matt McIrvin:
You are on the 14 day antibody countdown ????
I read these threads because they make me happy. Folks are getting beyond themselves to other members of the family. Now, the youth?
rikyrah
@Bruce K in ATH-GR:
14 day antibody countdown done!!!
Yeah ☺️
WaterGirl
@Bruce K in ATH-GR: So you are back in Greece! You were back in the US for both shots?
rikyrah
My hope is that lurkers will post when they get the ??
rikyrah
@Manxome Bromide:
Awesome.
When that 14 day antibody countdown is done?
The sense of relief
WaterGirl
@sdhays: Wow, 2019. What stickers would you like?
WaterGirl
@MagdaInBlack: So glad you are feeling better now!
Bruce K in ATH-GR
@WaterGirl: Yep. Both shots, plus seeing my better half after a year and a half, plus helping my parents prepare for their move to Greece to retire (they fly out from New York for the last time this evening). Just as well, because the odds are that if I’d waited to get my shot(s) in Greece, I’d still be waiting.

Mrs. coin and I got Moderna #2 on Wednesday.
If there was a gif with Simone Biles sticking that incredible landing yesterday, I’d take it.
Instead, I’ll take a Steve…reminds me so much of my beloved Fredo.
WaterGirl
@randy khan: Happy day!
WaterGirl
@MomSense: I know it’s been harrowing for you with your mom, all the kids, and the assholes/idiots you work with.
Big sigh of relief.
sdhays
@WaterGirl: Oh, I’ll take the lovely mRNA ladies, please!
WaterGirl
@Bruce K in ATH-GR: Congrats to you and your parents on the move.
You and your better half live in two different countries???
WaterGirl
@coin operated: I can’t watch gymnastics, ice skating or ice dancing until it’s a replay and I know everyone did fine.
Otherwise, I am holding my breath and worried and I’m so stressed that it’s not enjoyable. :-)
WaterGirl
@sdhays: done!
Are you going to eat inside or outside? I won’t be eating inside a restaurant for a long time, but I am considering outside. One of these days.
WhatsMyNym
@TomatoQueen: The lastest study (not peer reviewed yet) is indicating J&J’s Ad26.COV2.S vaccine has a efficacy of 76.7%, which is higher than the initial Phase III results, if I’m reading it correctly.
Ten Bears
No sticker, ahm just a coyote (pronounced kai.yot
e), but Thursday, M2.Other than an odd craving (I’m mostly vegetarian) for (bovine) brains and eggs from the Oxford Hotel in Missoula (MT) no undue side-effects. Sore arm, achy enough for an Oxy at bedtime.
My spouse, home-bound and mostly bed-ridden, got the J&J from the traveling nurse and she was even more like a big bowl of jello than usual until just a couple hours ago.
Be smarter than most human brains I might dig into …
Falling Diphthong
My youngest just got his second shot, so the whole family is vaxxed.
WaterGirl
@Falling Diphthong: The whole family… yay!
What stickers would you like?
sdhays
@WaterGirl: We’re only now starting to come to grips with the possibilities. It didn’t even seem real to me until now that I’ve actually received by second shot. The weather’s so nice that we’ll probably eat outside if possible, but if the COVID numbers keep going down, I think we’ll probably feel comfortable eating in doors. We’re talking mid-June here, so hopefully everything continues to go well.
Matt McIrvin
As to whether I’ll keep masking up, I think that’s going to depend on the case counts and positivity numbers wherever I happen to be. The amount of virus around where I am is still substantial but dropping rapidly. When I’m officially fully vaccinated in a week and a half, my town may be green on the map– large swathes of the Boston area already are. Now that it’s hotter and whatever type of pollen bothers me the most has subsided, there’s less incentive to wear one outside unless a lot of people are around.
Benw
my younger teen gets his second on the 3rd. I would pay significant cash to have it approved for the 8-11 cohort so my daughter can complete the family vax. You hear that, FDA!?
ellie
Hubs and I got our second Moderna shot this past Wednesday. Full immunity day is June 2. YAYAYAYAYAY!
I’ll take Tikka. Thanks!
cain
This wednesday is full immunity day! But I am gonna take the khush and lav velociraptor shots- which sadly is not a choice here. :D

We actually went next door yesterday afternoon to have dinner with the neighbors. They actually share the farm roads with us, we sold them a place up on the ridge with great views back when they talked about building n the neighborhood.
T made pizza, 3 different flavors, starting the moment his dough was done raising. One was figs and mozzarella, the last one. He has a little stainless steel wood fired oven he uses, fired with little chunks of hardwood from trees right around the farm. Cooks so fast!
All full vaccinated, and happy about it. We actually went to a for real bookshop on our anniversary last week~!!~

My second dose goes back to March 24, and more importantly my wife’s goes back to March 25th. I have more tolerance for house arrest.
I like the hedgehog. My grandson is the one who likes stickers (“likes” is mild, it’s a borderline dangerous addiction from another point of view), but he’s far too young for the current vaccination regime. His favorite animal seems to be cars, maybe dinosaurs after that. But I’m partial to hedgehogs.
KM in NS
I got the first Pfizer last week. Yay! Nova Scotia has 105 days between vaccinations so it will be September before I’m fully vaxxed. Sore arm the day after and a massive headache on day 3. But, way better than COVID!
I’m grateful for all the nurses and public health workers who have kept us relatively safe this past year and a half.
cain
@KM in NS: 105 days seems pretty excessive when you only need 3 weeks – assume it is a supply issue?
SiubhanDuinne
@KM in NS:
@cain:
I have cousins in Ontario, both over 70 and with health issues. They got their first shot April 15, and are scheduled for the second sometime during the first week of August. I think that would be roughly 105 days. It seems to be standard in much of Canada.
KM in NS
@cain: public health’s recommendation. I think it was a supply issue early on. I hope that it will be sooner now that supplies are more reliable.
MomSense
@WaterGirl:
Last week I went out for dinner and drinks with my son, three of his close friends, and one friend’s mom. In the before times we would go to music events together. We hugged and kissed and laughed. It was such an amazing feeling. Thank everything good in this world that we elected Biden Harris because I know that we would be suffering and dying with TFG.
KM in NS
@cain: public health’s recommendation. I think it was a supply issue early on. I hope that it will be sooner now that supplies are more reliable.
@SiubhanDuinne: yes I think it’s the Canadian standard.
KM in NS
@SiubhanDuinne: yes. I think it’s standard in Canada. Here in NS, we’ve been patiently waiting. Good uptake for 60+. We just opened up for 25+. I hope most will take the vax. Our Chief Medical Officer of Health is aiming for 80% vaccination rate.
oops! Sorry for the duplicates.
WaterGirl
@MomSense: We would be in deep shit, far worse than we are, if Biden hadn’t been elected. I shudder just thinking about it.
Lawrence
Got my second dose of Moderna yesterday. And I have barely been out of bed all day. Not sorry in the least. Grateful.
Matt McIrvin
@cain: I think Canada is following the UK’s lead in spreading out shots so they can get more people with limited supply. Osterholm was recommending doing that in the US before it became kind of moot– he also speculated it might make the vaccines more effective, since spacing them out like that is a good thing for many vaccines, to let the immune response to the first dose mature (Shingrix has at least 2 months between doses).
Orange is the New Red
I am a month out after Shot #2. Just coming home from seeing a friend’s new house, which she bought well over a year ago.
Matt McIrvin
@rikyrah: that’s right! And when my kid is at the 2 weeks+ point, that’s the day my parents come up to visit. Everyone fully vaccinated.
Drunkenhausfrau
Finally! I am Fully vaxxed! Adult kids, too. 90 year old mom and MIL. Everyone! Hedgehog me! ?

I hit “fully vaccinated” with Pfizer on 5/15; So I just passed a week of being “fully vaccinated”.
In that time, I’ve started taking walks outside and only carrying a mask in a pocket if need be, I’ve had both my car and my spouse’s car get their state inspections – we both wore masks in the tire center for the brief interactions, and I know I aired the F out of my car by going on a joyride around the interstate with my windows down. It was part “let’s ventilate this sumbitch” and also, I haven’t put miles or speed on my car since December, so, hey, it was “just cause” too. It was quite nice.
She’s been to a few stores and seen mostly masked folks in public still. Living in BidenWorld vs Trump Country I think helps.
I personally am still not planning on a lot of “go do things in person” just yet, because while I do want to trust the science – and the science on Pfizer looks fantastic so far – I do harbor worries about the dreaded-maybe-but-maybe-not Variant that Beats Vaccines™
As of now? To be very clear, all the data I’ve seen actually says that Pfizer is damn good, even against the newest bogeyman, B.1.617.2 – running around the UK and India a lot right now.
Pfizer appears to be a very solid choice, and the side effects I had were very mild. I’d do it again if I had to, or if they ever say “Hey you need another shot” I’d go get it again.
Not sure how much more I can contribute to these threads now. My immediate family has gotten their vax’s – my parents got Moderna I believe, and my sister also got Pfizer – no children who are pending vaccination in this house, and my sister’s kid is like 3 or 4 so they won’t be eligible anytime soon, but more vax’d adults mean the kiddos are safe too.
If there are any holdouts still – I really do recommend Pfizer wholeheartedly.
“The best vaccine is the one you can get” so, if you don’t have it available, don’t wait for it if you’re at risk.
But if you have the luxury of choice, I do highly recommend it.
If case counts continue to plummet, I am legitimately hopeful that July 4th will look great…holidays may look good…
And who knows, 2022 may very well look a lot more like 2019 than 2020.
Barring new evidence of a setback, I am actually thinking that it will.
Any last minute stickers can be surprises, I dig them all!
Go Team Vaccine!

@Drunkenhausfrau: You have been hedge-hogged! :-)

@Lawrence: @Orange is the New Red:
Which stickers would you guys like?
WaterGirl
@hrprogressive: I tried to cover all the bases!

I’ve heard that in Australia there are large numbers of people refusing to get vaccinated with the AZ vaccine because they’re “waiting for Pfizer” which they may not be able to get for months. Seems like a bad idea. Now, there’s not a lot of virus about there, but everyone waiting on Pfizer seems like a recipe for disaster.
Chacal Charles Caltrop
My full immunity day is next Friday at which point I should be able to download NY’s Excelsior pass … may we can transition these posts into discussions of vaccine passports?
I asked for baby Champ last time; can I have Tikka now (cats deserve equal time)?
ryan
I’m a US diplomat serving abroad and we just got our second doses last week. And we finally finished negotiating a way to vaccinate our local staff with the host government, so they’ll get their first shots this week. It’s an absolute relief that we can hang out with other vaccinated people again – after a year+ with a toddler and nobody else, we were losing our minds.
Glidwrith
I got my second Moderna shot at the beginning of March, but it didn’t change much for me since family wasn’t vaccinated. Husband got his second Pfizer shot mid-April. Son just got his second Pfizer shot last week and daughter at 15YO got hers as a walk-in the same day.
I must give a shout out to Anne Laurie: because of her Covid threads I knew CVS was federally contracted to allow walk-ins. The pharmacist was not unpleasant but they had a sign still up claiming no walk-ins allowed and verbally denied they were supposed to allow them now. When I pointed out they were now obliged to give her a shot, it required consultation with the manager.
I was glad to clear up the confusion because there was another kid directly behind us wanting a shot as well.
Kitty cat stickers for the whole family, if you please.
Pete Mack
Got the J&J shot at the supermarket last week, once they started taking walk-ins. I was in no rush, since I had the ‘Rona in March, thanks to my plumber. (Really! And I’d been so careful, too!)
It was very much the low hassle way to go.
Grover Gardner
Got my second Moderna shot Friday, had the weekend fenced off for awful consquences, but only felt a bit flu-ish on Saturday. Done!
Lawrence
@WaterGirl: Cats, the animal and not the film, or Star Trek.
WaterGirl
@ryan: So happy to hear that! For you and your family and for all the local staff.
What stickers would you like?
WaterGirl
@Pete Mack: I’m sorry to hear that. I had to have workers in my house twice – my fridge went out in March 2020 and then my washer died a couple of months later.
I, too, was super careful, but in the end having massless people in my house (this was before masks were REQUIRED and they refused to war them!) was very worrisome.
I would have been really pissed, and beyond upset, if in spite of all that time being careful, I had gotten covid because of a plumber’s carelessness. I hope your case was mild and that you are well!
What stickers would you like?
WaterGirl
@Grover Gardner: Yay for the second shot! What stickers would you like?
Boomzilla
Got my second Pfizer dose last Monday. Didn’t feel great for a couple of days afterwards (don’t let that stop anyone! Totally worth it.).
I’ll take Steve. If I can’t have the actual Steve I guess I’ll settle for his sticker.
Thanks.
Boom
WaterGirl
@Boomzilla: The actual Steve was busy tonight. You will have to make do.
Boomzilla
@WaterGirl:
You’re an absolute star, doing what you do.
Thank you.
Boom
Hold on. Steve was busy? Doing what? Contemplating how to make JC feel as naked and shamed as he does after the haircut? I wish we could make Steven understand, John already has self-flagellation and a well-fit hairshirt kit. I wish he didn’t. I think he’s kind of heroic. John, not Steve. Heroic? If not that, at least principled and thoughtful.
I think I’ll stop right here before it sounds like I’m swinging on John’s nuts. Not my intent, at all.
My original point, WaterGirl, thanks for doing what you do. I think it is the best kind of cheerleading.
WaterGirl
@Boomzilla: Thank you!

There is a more recent I Got the Shot! thread in the sidebar.
