Our zoom with all 7 states to talk about strategy was on Monday at 8pm. If you are working on this project and you missed the zoom and want to catch up, please send email and I will send you the link.
In the meantime, here’s the promised post. Please use it to add the reports from your states and anything else that is useful: thoughts or ideas that came up in the meeting that we don’t want to lose track of, things you have thought of since, etc.

I will be adding more information up top, but I wanted to get this up before we all forget the things we wanted to add. :-)

To add to@sophronia: ‘s info on AZ, today’s “On the Docket” newsletter from Democracy Docket says, re the ballot measure that Republican’s are attempting to get on the 2022 ballot in AZ:
There’s info on that in @sophronia’s 3rd link – wanted to mention that current actions include the ballot measure as well as the lawsuit.

Last week meetings were held throughout Ohio during which citizens voiced their support for the new fair mapping process and demanded that the Commission’s process for drawing maps be transparent and give citizens the opportunity submit maps and comment on proposed maps. Per Common Cause, here is the result of our efforts:
Hello Kathleen,
A HUGE THANK YOU to all of you who attended and testified at the regional hearings of the Ohio Redistricting Commission last week, or submitted written testimony! The hearings were packed across the state, with extra chairs and overflow rooms required. The Toledo hearing was moved to a larger venue — and it was still packed!
The testimony was powerful! Speaker after speaker made it clear to the mapmakers that we are watching them, and that we expect fair maps that keep communities together. (You can read — and be inspired by — testimony submitted to the Ohio Redistricting Commission HERE.) Ohio media wrote story after story about the hearings. See a list of articles in the PS below.
We wanted to make sure you got the news: The co-chairs of the Ohio Redistricting Commission have announced their next meeting.
When: Tuesday, August 31 at 1:00pm
Where: Room 313 of the Ohio Statehouse, Columbus, Ohio 43215
The meeting will focus on adopting rules. At the meeting, the Commission will set a schedule for subsequent meetings. You will not have a chance to testify, but you can still attend to show your support for fair maps. FYI, the meeting will be live-streamed on the Ohio Channel and a recording of the meeting will be posted soon after the meeting has concluded.
The Ohio Redistricting Commission should be presenting proposed maps very soon. Please stay tuned for information about additional hearings where the public will be invited to weigh in on proposed maps.
Many thanks for all you do,
Catherine Turcer and the Common Cause Ohio team

Arizona’s group that focuses on state stuff (Civic Engagement Beyond Voting – CEBV) is co-sponsoring an event, Rural Arizona Summit, on tactics to “empower rural voices in state and local government…” on Sept 18. Not sure if that is of interest here.
